Chapter 170: Overflowing Love
Arden's POV
I held Lana in my arms in bed. I didn't want to let go of her, I didn't want her out of my arms, not even for one second. It was a rainy evening. My hand was resting on her flat belly. When she told me the news, I had a mix of happiness, being terrified due to what had happened in the past with losing babies. I also had anger in the mix. Anger at myself that I caused this because it could result in a life and death situation with an ectopic pregnancy. I chose to be positive and I also didn't want to not put my heart on this baby because if I did that, it could come true.
"While you were in the shower earlier, I called doctor Conrad's secretary. I made an appointment for tomorrow morning at 9am. I just pray that everything will be okay with you and the baby," I said as I placed a kiss on the top of her head.
"Me too," she moved her hand on top of mine and just stroked my hand. "I have found the perfect place for our elopement."
I smiled, the room was dark except for the moonlight that was shining through the bedroom window. We kept the curtains open at times because we are on the fourth floor. "Where is this place?" I asked.
"Zanzibar. The Paradise Boutique Resort. It is beautiful and peaceful. It is perfect for us. I am excited," she smiled, which I could see.
"I cannot wait to marry you, but we first have to see what is going on with you and the baby. If everything is okay, we can go. I also want to purchase a bigger place for us..." I stopped myself. Perhaps it wouldn't work to purchase a bigger house.
"What?" she asked with a chuckle as she noticed me trailing off.
"I just remembered that it might be a bad idea. We only have one baby on the way and I was thinking of having a big house for more kids. I got carried away," I let out a breath. I never moved my hand away from her belly. It felt like I was protecting my little angel from any harm.
"Maybe in the far future we can try for more kids," she shrugged.
"I would prefer only one. As much as the idea of more kids sounds amazing. I have to settle for one. Your life matters to me. Let us do everything that we can to make sure that you and our angel are perfectly healthy." I said, my heart fluttered further.
"Angel?" Lana asked with amusement.
"Angel. The name just feels natural at this point. So I am calling him or her an angel as an endearment." I smiled.
"So Professor Moses, tell me what is the meaning of angel then?" she asked as she moved to have a look at me in the partial darkness.
"I believe that our little angel is a fulfillment of God's will for us. Although angels are messengers even through human form and being kind and helpful, I feel that it is more than just that. I believe that God knew our hearts and what we desperately wanted and that was to have a baby. He fulfilled that for us. Forgive me when I am more attentive and always around you, because as I am lying here with you, my heart is pouring with an overflow of love that I actually never had before with the other babies that I have lost. It's like I cannot contain this joy or happiness and love that is within me. I cannot describe it further," I said as tears stung the back of my eyes. I am so happy that it seems to be uncontainable.
"You will be an amazing father. I have seen it before with how you were with Charl and I have no doubt that you will be the best father," she smiled as she removed her hand from mine and she leaned closer to me, placing a chaste kiss on my lips.
"I wish that I could make love to you now, but I just want to hold you like this for the entire evening." I said as she pulled inches away from me.
"I'm totally fine with that," she smiled. I moved my hand from her belly and I pulled her closer to me.
"I want to have s^x with you at least after the doctor's appointment," I was too afraid of doing anything that could harm Lana and the baby.
"I'm okay with it. We have to be careful with everything, right? This is a pregnancy that will be monitored, so being safe will be a priority and I'm happy that you are thinking about safety over your desires in bed," she smirked.
"Ever since I f^cked you and ruined you...I decided to learn self-control and I am no longer going to be drinking alcohol. I have had a lot to think about since you went on vacation. I decided to make the right decisions because I will be a husband soon...again. Adding a baby to our picture makes it all worth it. I stand by my decision to be better and to handle things better. I want to be an amazing man to you and I don't want to resort to old ways, so I am a work in progress, but I am more than happy at this point," I said.
"I am proud of you and us. We have come a long way through everything and I think that this baby will bring so much joy into our world. But...I do have to work after the appointment tomorrow. I have no choice and I need to see what is happening. I have my shoe line sketches ready, so I need to have a meeting tomorrow," she said.
She laid her head on my chest and I continued to hold her closer to me. I wanted to stay like this forever. I didn't want to let go of her. I needed this. "Just remember to take it easy and listen to your body because you have another person growing inside of you to think about," I replied.
I loved every moment of this. I will always be here to take care of her when she needs me. I won't take this pregnancy for granted. I will do everything it takes for nothing to happen to them.
