Chapter 110
CHAPTER 109-LOST STARS
"It's okay, dear." Tessa lets out softly as the waiter tries to clean it off, shivering and shaking in fear. "It's fine." She muttered; she didn't mind if it was heard or not. She just knew it was human to make mistakes, wasn't it?
Eyes were watching, to some, it was just a cup of wine splashing on designer wear, but to others, it was a mistake well handled, by Tessa, a woman who carries herself with grace and poise.
Unknown to Tessa, the organizers of the event had organized this test to confirm if she was fit for the role they were about to bestow on her. Her reaction to the incident shunned all naysaying and raised her chances of being chosen.
The MC's voice began. "And now it is time. The time we've all been waiting for is finally here. We are honoured to call up the two contestants for the position to be awarded the best Humanitarian CEO, 2025."
Tessa's heart was beating so hard that, for a second, it felt like she wasn't the only one hearing her heartbeat. Tessa was a very generous person; she ran a humanitarian arm as well. She stood out quite alright, but she still had rivals.
"The award goes to no other than Miss Tessa -" the MC said, before being cut short by the crowd. They were overjoyed; they didn't let him even mention her last name. She was indeed the woman for the job. She was so kind-hearted and couldn't overlook a person in need.
Tessa went home feeling like a queen. She had added another award to the shelf. She was overjoyed and glad, and couldn't wait to share the good news with Julian. She was presented with an award. Pictures were taken.
But these pictures didn't stop there. The internet was on fire. Tessa was trending; it was a good trend. 'The kind-hearted fashionista', that was now what she was fondly called. She didn't even know.
It was when other persons who knew her had shown it to her that she then realized how far her good deeds had taken her. Soon, and in no time, brands began to call her for endorsement and deals. Her good turn had yielded so much in return.
She made her way home, after the glitz, glam, and buzz, she returned to the quiet. At times, the silence was too loud, but she had come to a point where she knew it was okay to need the things one wasn't comfortable with or used to.
She sank into her bed after a warm bath. Her thoughts were soaked in buckets of Julian. But now, she wasn't calling him. She needed to get a hold of her emotions before they got the best of her. She picked up a book and began reading, drifting off to sleep a few seconds into reading the book.
One couldn't cheat nature after all. The next morning was swift, like overturning pages. Tessa made her way off to work as usual and was surprised by what was waiting for her at the office.
Julian had decided to surprise her. A mini party, exquisite and elegantly beautiful, was thrown in her honor for winning the prestigious award. Julian might not physically be with her. But he is, almost every instance, good at making unforgettable statements, mostly not with words but with actions.
"Hey!!! You!!!! Thank you!!! You're the best anyone could ever ask for. You see me, understand me, and at times it even seems like you know me more than I know myself. I'm really grateful for the gift of you. You don't know how lucky I am to have you." She praised.
"Shhh... I'm the lucky one here. I'm not even making this up. You are indeed a huge blessing... To the world, to me, to yourself, and everyone who cares to listen." He said, his voice shaky. Tessa could already guess he was getting teary-eyed over the phone.
"I love you, Julian. Never forget that." Tessa let out. For the following seconds, there was silence on the call. "Hello. Julian, are you there?" She asked, "The stars, the moon, the universe, the cells in our bodies. Everyone knows how much I love and cherish you, Tee. Please don't break this fragile heart of mine." He let out.
Tessa had no words, just tears. They were in love, but they needed more brace, for what was coming.
