Chapter 45 CHAPTER 45

KYLE XANDER SILVERBACK

The second my hands come in contact with her skin, heat rushes into the palm of my hands. But that’s not the reason I let go.

I let go because of the voices in my head. Her voice to be precise.

It’s like a song I can’t get a hold of, weaving webs and occupying my thoughts. Something doesn’t feel right, and yet, everything tells me this is where I want to be.

That’s until the wildflower parts her lips and speaks about my brother, as I try to fight that alluring scent pouring off her skin.

There’s no way in the seven realms this wolf-less Omega will have my wolf pacing within me.

“What do you know about Echo’s captivity?” I ask, and the Raven-haired Omega tells me her dead sister, the one I and my brothers stopped from raising the entire academy to the ground, showed it to her in a vision.

I want to believe that the girl in front of me is playing a joke on me, but the stable heartbeat thudding softly within her chest tells me she isn’t lying.

But if she isn’t, and has no wolf-spirit, then what else is she?

I don’t have a second to confirm my thoughts when a low growl rumbles softly behind me. I don’t need anyone to tell me who it is, I know it’s Domenico.

But why is he growling?

I turn my head to see his eyes glowing red, and his claws puffing out of his fingernails. His fangs are protruding out of its case, and I know immediately what is happening to him.

So does Lucian.

As a matter of fact, the look on his face tells me he knows exactly why Dom is losing control to his wolf.

And there’s the matter of him keeping Lyra a secret from the rest of us. Something I will get out of him when the whole matter is being resolved.

I put both hands on my brother to try and restrain him from acting out of control, but he seems not to be responding to it.

This isn’t the first time Dom has lost control over himself. Mum usually says its because he has the strongest wolf amongst the rest of us, but that was when he was little.

“Talk to me, Dom. What’s going on?” I ask through the mind link, when I can fully hear his bones cracking.

My brother doesn’t speak a word. The direction in which his eyes trail to tells me what is going on with him.

He’s losing control over his wolf because his dick is reacting to… her!

The wolf-less Omega.

Dom has always been the most resistant to pussies amongst the rest of us, but him this vulnerable makes me question who she truly is.

Or maybe, easier to accept the truth I’ve been hiding from myself, right from the moment I laid my eyes on her during the opening of the session.

That she is…

I clench my jaw and place both hand on my brother’s head, trying to get through to him like I used to, and this time around, it is working.

I can finally connect to his wolf, and even though I can sense the power in his wolf, being an older brother makes it much easier to get the beast to listen to me.

“He doesn’t have more than tonight, your brother.”

Her voices breezes into my ears, and by the goddess I want nothing else than to stick my hands in her chest and rip out her heart the way I did her sister.

But the minute I turn my gaze back to her, the green colour of her eyes acts like a suppressant that has me wanting to lick the tip of her paws for comfort.

“If what you say it’s true, Lyra, why then would you want to be of any help to us? Considering what we did to your sister,” I feel the air leaving my lungs as I ask the question, and that’s because something else is occupying the spaces in them.

Something I refuse to name.

“Because she told me to,” Lyra replies. “Not because I forgive you for what you did to her, or what have my revenge on you.”

I knit my brows together, allowing my silver-grey eyes wander over her.

Does she know her uncle sits on the throne of the high court?

Does she know she is the true heir of Rivelton?

I take a second to collect my thoughts, before making the next decision.

“Fine,” I retort. “And what is it you’ve seen?”

“Four dead wolves, three lying in a vault, and one in a basement,” she responds. “There’s a girl behind a man with two circle marks on his right arm.”

“Culdron?” Lucian retorts, and that’s the first time he’s said something since we left our rooms.

If the man she is seeing is Culdron, then the girl must be…

I raise my chin, and widen my eyes when I realize who she must be.

“Calista.”

My voice shoots out of my mouth, and fury burns within my veins. She plans to teleport us directly into the Lion’s den.

I lift my eyes back to the girl, but there’s something in her eyes. Something that has me calling towards it. The wolf-less girl is a seer.

But one thing I cannot bring myself to understand is why the black book is in her custody. And also, why she went looking for the crown of the seven?

I want to ask her about it. Rip the truth out of her tongue if she refuses to divulge the answers. But the minute my phone chimes in, every thought about her evaporates from my mind.

Looking at the screen and watching my brother’s relentless torture makes me want to squeeze the phone in the palm of my hands, but just as I’m about to do it, a thought comes into my mind.

If Echo’s location has been moved, then getting inside and out of the castle shouldn’t pose a problem for me and my brothers.

If Echo has been taken to the basement, then there’s an easier path we can follow that will lead us right into the basement without needing Calista’s help.

But all these can only be effective if they still believe we are going to fall right into their trap. And that means getting Calista what she wants.

And that’s the black book right on their shelf.

I never really guessed right why Lyra would want access to that book, but looking right at her makes me believe there’s something else going on.

Something way beyond seeing visions.

The Morparma is a book of power. And only powerful beings like blood witches, and Dark elves can utilize the full content of that book.

Just like the half Were-fox, and half-elf of a sister.

But does that mean Lyra is one too?

I walk towards the shelf and pick up the black book, giving one last glance before leaving her and her friend’s den. The kind of look where it tells you that this is far from over.

“Let’s go rescue our brother,” Dom says as we walk back to our dens.

Yet, something in my mind won’t let me have a brief moment of comfort. And that’s the real reason why I had released my hand from her neck in the first place.

The fact that in that brief moment, I had connected with a memory of her.

A dream rather from when I was younger.

One I never thought would actually see the light of day.
