Chapter 169: Contract Wife Morning, My Darling CEO
Third Person POV
Cassidy’s heart raced.
Since the news of her and Adrian being a couple took the whole internet by surprise, a lot of women, both old and young has taken to the internet to express how heartbroken they were.
So, listening to Jasmine now, she thought of the worst.
“Are you serious? I had no idea that Adrian was also your idol. I’ve never heard you say it,” Cassidy exclaimed.
“What?” Jasmine shouted over the phone as she swiped at the tears rolling down her cheeks angrily.
“No! I have nothing to do with Adrian Moss. I am talking about Nelson … Nelson Nolan,”.
Cassidy sighed in relief and also wondered at Jasmine’s confession.
“You and Nelson? I thought he was avoiding you. When did both of you get close so much that there’s even a heartbreak now?”
“It’s a long story, Cass,” Jasmine sighed “C-Can you please come over? I think I’ll need some company tonight?’
“Oh, like right now?” Cassidy played with her fingers. “I just want to be home in case Chad shows up and…”.
“Please, Cass,” Jasmine sobbed, “I think I might just die,”.
“Fine, I’m coming,” Cassidy rolled her eyes and hung up the call.
When the call ended, Jasmine dabbed her eyes with the sleeve of her shirt as she scanned her surroundings with a puzzled expression.
Her mind flitted to the time when Linda had dragged her out. She had thought it was to get her beaten but it turned out differently.
“Y-you, let me go,” Jasmine stuttered “I was just rambling, I didn’t mean it. Why are you taking it seriously?”
Linda sneered but eventually let her go.
“I wasn’t going to do anything to you, but just a gentle reminder, Mr Moss comes from one of the most prestigious families in Wellspring. Both him and Mr West can dine at the same table. I don’t ever want to hear you belittle him or try to compare him with Chad West. I’ll make sure you get canceled from the entertainment industry…forever,”.
Her words didn’t sound like child’s play, which made Jasmine grow pale with fright and she reluctantly nodded her head in agreement.
Thinking that everything was settled and she was free to leave; however, Linda scrutinized her from top to down and suddenly said.
“You should keep in touch with me from now on,”.
If Jasmine weren’t a woman, she might have mistaken Linda for an overbearing president. She immediately covered her chest with both hands…
“I am not a lesbian,”
Linda threw her head backwards and laughed and even her lips relaxed into a smile that didn’t reach her eyes. The gesture sent chills down Jasmine’s spine.
“Don’t worry, Miss Pierce, I am not after your body or your tattered virtue. What I mean is; if you follow me from now on, you will make and have more money than you do now and you’ll start mingling with top talents not only in the entertainment industry but from every,,, work of life”.
Being someone who was easily moved by offers like that, Jasmine couldn’t help but ask.
“What do you mean?”
Linda closed the space between them and leaned in with a mysterious glint in her eyes.
“Have you forgotten your old job, Miss Pierce?”
Jasmine’s heart skipped a beat as she tried to mask the nervousness that coursed through her body.
“I do not read books backward, Linda. My past and what I used to do are all in the past where they belong. However, I appreciate your kind offer and goodwill but I’ll have to reject it,”.
Linda’s brows shot up in amusement as she grabbed Jasmine’s hand in such a way that it would be difficult for her to break free.
“When I like you, you really don’t have any option in things like that,”.
Panic and resentment surged through Jasmine and she quickly retorted.
“Is it because I have no power and connections to back me up? Is that why you’re acting like a crazy bitch?”
“Don’t force my hand, Jasmine Pierce?” Linda growled.
“Am I telling the truth, Linda?” Jasmine chuckled dryly “For instance, you wouldn’t dare try this nonsense with someone like Cassidy, right? She already meets all the criteria of your stupid offer,”
Immediately the words left her mouth, and Jasmine regretted it. She didn’t want to involve Cassidy in any way.
“I am not trying to shift your attention to Cassidy. Don’t even think about it,”.
Linda sneered and grabbed her hands again as she dragged her towards a car and tried to stuff her inside. She obviously didn’t want to continue the conversation anymore.
Seeing what was going on, Jasmine decided to cry for help.
“Help, please,” she cried out, “This woman is trying to kidnap me. Please help me,”.
At this point, Jasmine didn’t mind if anyone recognized she was a celebrity, she just wanted to get rid of Linda.
A lot of people turned their heads in their direction.
Linda smiled at them, adopting the air of a rich, spoiled girl just having fun.
“This is my best friend and she was kidding,”.
Most of the people either rolled their eyes and moved on, or they ignored them and went back to what they were doing before. At this point, Jasmine was getting alarmed. Linda’s strength superseded hers and there was no way she could take on her by herself.
The disturbing images from her previous encounter flashed through her mind, making her shiver with fright. She couldn’t afford to be in that place anymore.
Suddenly, a familiar image caught her eyes.
“Nelson?”
The figure turned. It was truly Nelson.
“Please help me,” she yelled desperately.
Nelson was just coming out of his car at that moment. When he heard his name being called, he looked in the direction but when he discovered it was Jasmine, he turned his face the other way and tried to walk away.
Jasmine was more desperate now. She looked at Linda’s mocking gaze and knew she had to act fast. An idea suddenly struck her.
“Nelson, come take care of your ex-girlfriend now, or else, I’ll call the police,”.
Linda and Nelson looked at her in surprise. Ignoring them, she raised her chin a notch higher as she continued to shout without missing a beat. Her intention was to catch everyone’s attention.
She knew that Nelson hated what she was doing.
But her plan worked because Nelson started in her direction.
“When did you become close with the Nolan family?” Linda’s eyes registered surprise.
Jasmine snorted coldly.
“You think I don’t have powerful connections? Well, if you’re interested in finding out more, you had best let me go see this instance,”.
Linda smiled; her eyes were full of amusement. At that moment, Nelson finally reached them and his brows arched in annoyance.
“Jasmine, what do you think you’re doing?” he asked.
“Waiting for you to be my hero and save the day,” she replied, giving him a sweet smile before pointing to her wrist which Linda had clung to.
Linda smiled brightly as she straightened up and turned to Nelson.
“I hit it off with Miss Pierce some minutes ago and I was surprised by how amazing she is. I was going to ask her to come to have a drink or two with me. I didn’t expect her to make such a ruckus,”.
“All lies,” Jasmine shouted “You clearly want to sell me,”.
Then she turned her attention back to Nelson as she continued sweetly.
“Senior Nelson, I really can’t reach anyone else. Please can you save me this once?”
A trace of disgust flashed through Nelson’s eyes, but when he remembered that he had to kill her, guilt crept into his heart. He closed his eyes as if struggling to make the right choice, then turned to Linda.
“You can have drinks with her some other time. I just remembered that we were supposed to meet up today to discuss something important. So please, can you let her go?”
Linda didn’t want to disrespect any member of the Nolan family so she slowly lets go of Jasmine’s hand.
“You’re right, Mr Nolan. There’ll be plenty of opportunities in the future for me to drink with her,”.
Jasmine immediately ran to Nelson and pressed herself close to his body; anyone who saw them would think they were lovers.
Linda gave them a curt nod before she moved away and Nelson was ready to leave the scene so Jasmine had no other choice but to follow him.
“Thank you so much, Nel, for saving me. Can I treat you to dinner?” she asked pleasantly.
Nelson stopped in his tracks as he chuckled, turning to her.
“Are you trying to shamelessly seduce me like last time?”
Jasmine flushed red and felt slightly embarrassed, but she raised her shoulders in defiance.
“I admit I was a bit forward and impatient last time, but I did all of that because I like you. I’m not usually like that with people I don’t like,”.
That didn’t mean she was not going to take advantage of any opportunity to be with him when it presented itself.
Nelson was no longer in the mood to talk to her anymore, so he turned coldly to her.
“I have something to do so I won’t be joining you for dinner, Miss Pierce. Goodbye,”.
As he tried to move away, Jasmine grabbed his shirt, stopping him from going. There was a determined look on her face.
“Where are you going to? Can I come with you?”
Nelson stopped and searched her beautiful face. The disgust in his eyes was obvious.
“Jasmine, what do you want?” he asked steely.
Jasmine bit her lips and her expression softened. Her voice became tiny and charming.
“I thought you could feel it too, Nelson,” she lowered her gaze shyly “I like you,”.
She then paused and looked up at him with soulful eyes and a serious expression.
“I really like you, Nelson Nolan. I have liked you for so many years now,”.
At that moment, Jasmine felt like a heavy load had been lifted off her shoulders. She had finally put out the secret she had kept hidden in her heart for years.
She’d had a crush on him since she was young and she never confessed because she felt inferior and didn’t think someone like her deserved him. However, the moment was right and she decided to speak the truth.
Although she had lost count of the number of times she had confessed to some men how much she loved them, this time around it was genuine.
Nelson laughed as his features wrinkled with disdain.
“I must be really unlucky to be liked like a woman like you,”.
“Nelson, I…” Jasmine tried to speak.
“Don’t even dream about it, Jasmine. I am not interested in you and please stop pestering me. If you keep this up, I’ll make sure you never thrive in the entertainment industry,”.
“Nelson…” Jasmine’s voice croaked with tears.
Ignoring her tearful expression, Nelson pushed her away and brushed past her. His handsome face which was once sunny and handsome was full of ridicule and disdain.
Jasmine’s affection had not only failed to move him but it seemed to repel him like he was some kind of insect.
He just couldn’t bear it.
