Chapter 0220

FEYRE

I feel pain in every part of my body.

That is the first thing I notice when I start to regain consciousness. There is a woman standing over me but I can't see her through my blurry gaze.

The pounding in the back of my head is back, and it is worse. I feel every slight movement I make there. And seeing as I'm not moving a lot, it means shit.

I'm really battered up and extremely weak.

I force my mind to relax, trying to remember the events that made me end up here. Everything else is a fog in my head but I remember one thing most more vividly than anything else.

The feel of Zade. I could have sworn I saw him and he touched me.

I was at the gates and he was there.

The only problem is, I'm not sure if that is a memory or just my imagination. As much as I didn't want it to be, I couldn't hide the fact that there is a high chance it is.

I am no doctor but I know I probably have a concussion from how much I got battered.

"Hi," a soft female voice says from above me.

Her shadow looms over me, and something about her presence has my heart race slowing. Not in the dangerous way that someone worried, but in a calming way. A way that makes someone feel...at home?

I'm not sure what that means even though it was literally my thought.

Yes, I definitely have a concussion.

would get

"Hey, can you hear me?" I feel a hand on my neck, my forehead before the shadow moves. "She is still weak. Tell Jenny we need more of her potion. I don't think she'll make it."

I think my eyes widened, which couldn't be humanly possible seeing how my eyes were closed. I tried to speak, but before I could, all the noise around me stopped and everything went black.

"She should wake up anytime from now."

I recognize that voice from earlier, before I passed out. I don't let my eyes fully open as I force myself to sit up. A small gasp leaves my lips as an unimaginable pain makes stars dance in the line of vision.

I snap my eyes open, regretting instantly when bright lights make them burn. But I don't close it out of stubbornness.

The sudden need to know where I am and who I am with born from all I went through with that crazy doctor. The last thing I want is to end up with another crazy doctor.

I blink a few times, looking around where I am. It seems to be some kind of small tent or something like that. There is a woman at the end of the room and she hasn't noticed I'm awake yet.

I try as much as I can to not move so she wouldn't know I'm up. I need to regroup first and make sure I can defend myself. Someone yells out something and she runs out of the tent. Now alone, I feel more comfortable and I sit straighter and stretch my hands over my head. It makes a sound as my bones release and I huff out a relieved sigh, relaxing instantly.

I feel slightly better than when I first woke up. I could remember a few things from then, but mostly it revolved around the woman that I saw. I don't think she is the one that just walked out now, though she is all I can remember.

They said some things that are lost to me.

Debating with myself to either get up and walk out to see where I am, or stay in here and wait for them to come. In the end, I got up, paying no attention to my sore body as I pushed myself into standing up. I stretch some more, releasing my sore muscles.

I looked down at my body and saw I'm wearing a t-shirt that is too big for me. My knees feel weak when jagged memories of a man pulling the shirt over my head flits through my mind.

But this shirt is clean which makes the memory inaccurate. I know I was bleeding within an inch of my life. I remember thinking I was going to die. I saw Zade and I was happy he would be the last person I saw at least.

Was all of this just a dream? I am here though, that should mean something, right?

My legs are fully healed, which has to be the most shocking part of this. I knew I got shot, twice. There is no way I would have healed by now. It couldn't have been that long.

'Healing potions are strong, though with their side effects.' Naya explains. I nodded. That made sense.

'Do you have any idea where we are?' she makes a sound I couldn't decipher. 'I'll take that as a no.'

I guess, I just have to go outside to see what is going on.

My knees feel a little weak, nothing too major that I can't walk. I notice a small limp to my step.
