Chapter 221: Chapter 0221

Chapter 0221

I walk to the door of the tent, my forehead creasing in confusion when I see a couple of more tents like it all around. There has to be about five or six. A lot of them are open, letting you see the inside unlike the one I'm in. That already has my mind coming up with multiple different scenarios.

I started walking forward, with no direction in mind. The people that walk past me don't even turn to look, and I start to think of me being a ghost and that is why they don't see me. But I see them dodging me and moving out of my way.

That is somehow worse than being a ghost.

"Are there any more free beds? More people are coming and we need space." A loud voice says, the words coming out in a rush.

A body pushes me and I start walking in the direction of the voice, determined to figure out what is going on.

A thought occurs to me and that has me stopping mid-step. I don't know who these people are or what they want from me. Maybe they helped me but this seems all too familiar with Drugal and his pack.

Just because people are nice doesn't mean they are good. It is something I have never thought about until recently.

I change my route and follow the little space between the tents, I don't see anyone staying there which makes in between them.

The chaos I see in front of me has me grounded to where I am again.

What the hell is going on? I voice in my head when I see what is going on.

easier for me to move

There is an ambulance that is dropping people off. Some are in gurneys and others are walking on their own, and others with help from other people.

There are many nurses and a few doctors running around with medical supplies, treating those that are injured.

I'm in the middle of the place with my mouth almost reaching the floor, when someone bumps into me.

"Hey, what are you doing standing over here?" the person says as they pass.

They don't even wait for me to ask what is going on before she walks off. Or I think it is a she, I'm not sure.

"Hi." A hand is placed on my shoulder, which makes me shudder.

I snap my head back and come face to face with startling green eyes. I blink and move back.

"I'm sorry." The woman says, giving me a small reassuring smile.

She looks to be around my age, maybe a few years older than me. She is wearing a white doctor's coat, and her red fiery hair is pulled into a bun.

"I didn't know you were awake. How do you feel?" she looks over at me, her eyebrows pinched in thought.

I scrutinize her as much as she is looking over me. She looks put together with a stethoscope peeking from inside the pocket of her coat.

I take an instinctive step back, recalling the crazy doctor. I never had a problem with them. We were taught healers were traditional doctors, chosen by the moon goddess so I have always had a relationship with them but now, I wanted nothing to do with them.

"Are you okay?" she snaps a finger in front of my face, pulling me from my reverie. Her smile seems nervous now as she speaks. "I'm Raya and I was looking after you. If you would please come with me, I don't think you should be out he-"

"We need help over here!" someone yells, cutting her off.

She looks between me and the people running and she runs for them, leaving me behind. I follow her without stopping to think, just in time to overhear part of their conversation.

"-the alphas are down there. We don't know what happened." A man is speaking, he sounds hysterical.

The doctor who introduced herself as Raya shakes the man's shoulder. He has a bone protruding out of his leg and he has blood on almost every single part of him. The terror in his eyes is a different story and it shakes me.

"How? What do you mean? Where is Joel and Zade?" she asks, shaking him some more when his eyes start rolling to the back of his head.

"Zade?" I don't know when I ask.

Zade is here?! Well, he is not here, here. But he was here.

I wasn't dreaming and it wasn't my imagination. He was here. I saw him, I felt him.

"Yes, where are they?" she asks again.

The man shuts his eyes, coughing loudly.

"I don't know. We don't know. There was so much gas and rubble and the whole place looked destroyed. They had called for backup but when we went there, it was all in ruin, like a bomb exploded with them."

My breath hitches. The ground shifts and I lose balance. Someone screams something but I don't hear what they say. All I register is my body hitting the ground and I see nothing but white.

Was that the sky or my life flashing before my eyes?
