Chapter 33
ANDREI'S POV:
"Relax man," my friend Daevon said as he tapped my shoulder. It looked like he just arrived with his wife, traces of concern on his face while looking at me.
I fainted looking at them. "It's been one hour since I brought her here. The doctor is still not coming out." I said as I looked in the operating room.
I just leaned against the wall and slowly slid down. I cried and looked up, and closed my eyes tightly.
Please...don't leave me again...please...
"W-what did the doctor say?" Ayesha stammered in an anxiety-filled tone.
I slowly opened my eyes. "They said she was not critical, she just had to undergo surgery to remove the bullet from her stomach." I explain.
I need to see my wife awake to calm me down.
Cassandra's other friend also rushed in. Like Ayesha's face, it was also full of worry and fear.
"How's Adrian?" I asked, because she was looking after him.
"He's fine, he's with Cassandra's mom together with Daeshaia," she informed me.
All I could do was nod, and I looked again at the OR door.
"How is she?" Azaia asked.
"The doctor said it's not that critical, they just need to remove the bullet that hit her." Ayesha answered for me.
"I'll just get something to drink." Daevon simply said. He did not wait for my answer and walked away.
"How about Rozz? What happened to that asshole?" Azaia asked stubbornly.
I felt angry again every time I remembered that man. I gasped and looked at them emotionlessly.
"Dead," I simply said which stunned them for a moment, yet a little later I saw them smirk.
"Good for him," the two said at the same time and we all looking at the OR.
A few minutes later, the doctor who had operated on my wife came out. I immediately met him and asked about her condition.
"The operation was successful. The patient is stable. We will move her to her room. We will just wait for her to wake up," the doctor said.
Somehow my system calmed down a bit, but I would only calm down completely when I could talk to her.
The nurses and doctors quickly processed her transfer to a room. Of course, I chose a room where even if many people visited her, we would all fit.
We watched her together and waited for her to wake up. They were on the sofa, while I was next to her hospital bed. I watched her as she slept like an angel. I gently stroked her hair and kissed her forehead.
"Please don't leave me again baby." I whispered softly.
"It was then that I noticed Rozz's obsession with Cassandra, but I never thought it would reach this point—the point that he would kill my friend just to be with him, even in the afterlife." Ayesha said.
I could see the anger in her eyes. Daevon caressed her back, which calmed her down.
"Good thing I shot him first," I said and sigh.
His car was not bulletproof, so I knew the bullet of the gun I fired would penetrate. While they were busy arguing in the car, I simply walked over to the police and grabbed one of their guns. The police were shocked, but did nothing when I fired it, because I saw Rozz preparing to shoot my wife.
Good thing she was not shot in the head, but Rozz was still holding the trigger of the gun, which made me very nervous. Especially when I saw Cassandra's head leaning against the car window, a sign of her unconsciousness. His companion even tried to take her mother, but the police shot him immediately. Like Rozz, he was dead on the spot too.
I hurried over and opened the car. I saw my bloody wife. I immediately picked her up and took her to my car before I rushed to the hospital.
"Everything will be okay now, dude." My friend said to me. I replied with a simple smile before returning my attention to my sleeping wife.
I grabbed her hand and gently squeezed.
"Wake up, wife... Please wake up. I'm going crazy already," I whispered softly.
A few hours later, they all said goodbye and promised to come back when they had finished what they needed to. All I could do was nod, and led them to the door.
Daevon came out of the room last. He tapped me on the shoulder, and smiled sparingly at me. I just took a deep breath and looked at my wife.
"She'll be okay," he mumbled before finally walking away.
I closed the door and went back to the chair next to her bed.
I held her hand again and gently kissed it. I caressed her face in tears.
"Baby want to hear a story?" I tried to smile.
I straightened up and touched her hair, continuing to caress it.
"One day, a good old man brought a boy to his house. His house was very beautiful, but that was not what got his attention so much. Instead of noticing the furniture and design of the house, he focused on the girl inside. She was very beautiful, but that was not what he admired most; he admired her character." I continued while looking at her gentle face.
"The boy saw the girl's innocence. He found the girl talking to one of their maids. She asked about the housework, saying she would help do it, or not make the maid more tired." I laughed.
"The old man took the boy to his house for a few days, but the girl never noticed, because she was often focused on a book. The old man planned to introduce the boy to his daughter, but the boy immediately objected to it. Even though the old man was surprised, he just let it go," I continued.
"From then on, the boy really liked the girl until she grew up. He thought it was just a simple crush, so he tried to have a relationship with others, but he couldn't stop thinking about her." I said. I leaned back in my chair and looked at the ceiling as if I was watching the scenes I was telling.
"Until one day, the woman's father asked him to marry her. He immediately agreed, not because he was so indebted to him, but because he really wanted to be tied to the woman." I giggled.
"So...you already liked me back then?" a faint voice uttered.
I shuddered as I sat down and slowly lowered my gaze to her.
I dropped my jaw looking at her, and started to cry when she smiled at me.
"Hey baby," she greeted and caressed my face.
