Chapter 78: The Final Blow
Kael’s POV
The night was thick with tension, the moon peeking through the clouds above. The world felt as though it were holding its breath, waiting for the storm that was about to unfold. The rogue pack had become a threat too large to ignore, and now, after weeks of preparation, it was time to end it once and for all.
Kael stood at the front of his warriors, his gaze sweeping over the gathered ranks.
His pack—Nightclaw—stood tall and resolute behind him, the shadows of the trees shifting as the wind whispered through the leaves. Beside him stood Alpha Theron, the leader of Moonfang, his eyes dark with the same focus and determination that burned within Kael.
Tonight, they would end it. The rogue pack had been feeding off the weakness between the two packs. Their betrayal had nearly torn them apart, but now, as allies, they would strike back, together, once and for all.
Kael’s Beta, Elias, stood slightly behind him, his posture stiff with the anticipation of battle. Elias had always been a strong and steady presence, but tonight, even he couldn’t fully hide the tension in his stance.
Ryker, Alpha Theron’s Beta, was at his side, his face set in grim determination. Ryker was a seasoned warrior, and Kael trusted him completely. He and Elias had become close friends over the years, and their bond was evident as they exchanged brief nods of acknowledgment.
Aria was not far from them, her presence a quiet force. She had insisted on joining them tonight, despite the dangers. As the Luna of Nightclaw and a healer, her instincts were sharp. She was a part of this battle, not as a fighter, but as someone who would tend to the wounded and keep them all grounded.
Her soft eyes met his briefly, and the weight of their connection pulled him in. It was a reminder of everything he was fighting for. Aria was his mate, his heart, and he would protect her at all costs.
"Everyone ready?" Kael’s voice was low but firm, cutting through the silence of the night.
Elias and Ryker both nodded. Kael felt the weight of their gaze. He could see the loyalty in their faces, the trust they had in him. The same trust that had made them all capable of standing side by side tonight.
“We move on my signal,” Kael said, his voice carrying. “We move fast, hit hard.”
Alpha Theron‘s eyes met Kael’s gaze. "We’ll show them the strength of two packs united," he said, his words ringing with authority.
The rogues had been a thorn in their side for too long. They had manipulated and betrayed. But tonight, Kael and Theron would bring the hammer down.
The plan was simple—strike fast and leave no room for the rogues to retaliate. The highest-ranking wolves from each pack would move in first, sweeping through the rogue’s camp in the dead of night, when they would be most vulnerable. The rest would follow in just a few hours, after they had ensured the rogues were scattered and overwhelmed.
Kael turned to Aria one last time before the strike. Her face was calm, but her eyes reflected the storm inside her.
“You’ll be ready when the time comes?” Kael asked, his voice a low murmur just for her.
Aria nodded. “I’ll be here, Kael. Stay safe.”
He didn’t say anything else, but the way he looked at her said everything. She had never been afraid to fight for those she loved, but tonight, her place was with the healers, tending to the wounded and ensuring that their victory was secured.
“Let’s do this,” Kael said, turning away from Aria and signaling for his warriors to move out.
The camp was just ahead, a series of crude tents and makeshift shelters scattered through the trees. There was a flicker of firelight up ahead, and the scent of the rogue wolves carried on the wind, sharp and sour.
Kael’s breath was steady, every muscle in his body coiled and ready. He moved silently, every step measured, every sense on high alert. Elias was at his side, Ryker and Theron a few paces ahead. The tension was palpable, the air crackling with the anticipation of what was to come.
They were nearly upon the rogue camp when Kael held up his hand, signaling for the others to stop.
Wait for it… he thought, with a rush of adrenaline. The rogues had no idea what was coming. They were about to find out.
The wind shifted, and Kael could hear the sounds of conversation, they were relaxed, believing they had the advantage. They had no idea that two of the most powerful packs in the region were about to crush them.
“Now,” Kael whispered.
In an instant, they were on them. Kael and Theron led the charge, moving with the speed and precision of wolves trained for moments like this.
The rogue wolves barely had time to react before they descended on them. The clash of claws and teeth rang out through the night, but Kael didn’t hesitate. He fought with all the fury of a man who had been wronged, of a leader who would not allow his pack to suffer any longer.
Elias and Ryker were right beside them, their bodies moving in perfect harmony.
The rogue wolves fell under the force of their combined strength. Every swipe, every strike, was a message—a declaration that this would be the end of the rogue pack’s reign.
Kael’s eyes scanned the chaos, seeking out the leader of the rogue pack. He found him quickly—a large wolf, who was barking orders to his remaining warriors.
Kael wasted no time. He lunged, his teeth sinking into the rogue Alpha’s throat with a savage growl. The rogue Alpha struggled for only a moment before he fell, blood spilling into the dirt.
With their leader down, the remaining rogues faltered. The Nightclaw and Moonfang warriors moved quickly, overwhelming them. It was a slaughter, but it was necessary. The rogues had endangered too many lives for too long.
Within moments, the camp was in disarray. The remaining rogue wolves were either dead or fleeing, scattering into the woods.
Kael stood over the fallen rogue Alpha, his breath heavy as the adrenaline began to fade. He could feel the weight of the battle lifting. The victory was theirs.
“Done,” Theron said, his voice low as he approached Kael. His face was smeared with blood, but there was no triumph in his eyes.
Kael nodded. “It’s over. For good.”
Elias and Ryker approached, their eyes scanning the battlefield. The rest of the Nightclaw and Moonfang wolves were regrouping, securing the area, making sure the rogues couldn’t come back.
“We did it,” Elias said quietly, his gaze meeting Kael’s.
Kael’s heart swelled with pride for his pack, for his allies, and for the future that was now possible. It had been a long time coming, but tonight, they had taken back what was theirs.
Kael’s his voice steady. “The rogues are no longer a threat. We’ve won.”
Tomorrow, the world would be different. They had struck the final blow, and the rogues would no longer haunt them.
