Chapter one hundred and fourteen: The Confession.

“Mom, I am home. We have a lot to discuss about Dad,” Jane said.

Mrs. Louis Andrew smiled and a tear dropped out of her eye not because of what Jane said but because she was delighted to see her daughter again.

“Can I come?” Jane asked politely. She held her handbag with both hands, with a smile on her face.

“Sure... Sure, you can come in, don't mind old me, I just lost, you know, old age,” Mrs. Louis Andrew said. She chuckled as she let her daughter in.

Miss. Jane walked into the house, she admired the place. She saw a picture on the wall of her bd her mom when she was five years old, Jane smiled. She saw several pictures of her and her mother but there was no picture of her and her mom, when she is now a grown woman, because Jane's parent got divorced for an anonymous reason before Jane grew up into a woman.

“You have a nice place,” Jane said. As she looks around.

“Thank you, it is just my humble abode, I will let you take it or in, while I get you something to drink, have a seat,” Mrs. Louis Andrew said. She smiled and went to get Jane something to drink.

“Thank you, mum,” Jane said. She felt like a child again when her mom, was going to get her something to drink.

Shortly, Mrs. Louis Andrew came back with a cup of freshly squeezed fruit juice which was Jane's favorite when she was younger. Jane took a sip and it took her back to the good old days because fire money, greed, and power ruined it. Miss. Jane quickly finishes her drink.

“That was fast,” Mrs. Lois Andrew said. She was surprised how her daughter finished the drink so fast.

Jane smiled as she wiped off the smile on her lips, “sorry but it had been long, I had such a good fruit juice with such joy and peace,” Jane said as she dropped the cup.

“Do what have they been feeding you?” Mrs. Andrew asked. She finished her drink and she dropped the cup on the table.

“Lies, I think. And that is why I am here. I just wanted to know why you and Dad, are separate. And still date you don't talk to each other, what happened?” Jane asked.

“Umm... I don't think this is the right time to talk about this, maybe dime another time, right now, we need to do some catch-up with each other, like… like how has life been?” Mrs. Louis asked. She smiled, she was concealing something.

“Mom, life is confusing, I just wake up in the morning and repeat the same routine and I have missed a lot of things from my childhood ever since, you left, so that is the only catch-up, I want to do. Please answer the question,” Jane said. She was serious but emotional at the same time.

Mrs. Louis Andrew exhaled and looked down for some seconds and she looked at Jane and said, “What you are about to hear, I am not supposed to say it but, I think you are of the age to hear it, you did a lot of bad things and hurt a lot of people,”. She coughed, and she adjusted her wig.

“Okay but Mom, you look sick, is everything okay?” Jane asked. She noticed that something was wrong with her mother.

Mrs. Louis Andrew gave Jane, a sign with her finger to hold on. “I am not too strong, I will get to that at the end of our discussion. As I said before, you did something terrible to many that I was afraid of what he has become and what might come after us if I stayed longer. Because of greed and power, your dad changed into a blood-sucking monster, all because of wealth, he usually says he is doing it for our daughter's future but I asked what kind of future of guilt? But he drains people dry, even the poor,”.

“Even Mike's dad?” Jane asked. She cuts in and she looks straight into her mother's eyes. There was silence.

Mrs. Louis Andrew gasped and she rested back on the chair and she looked at Jane without saying a word.

“Tell me, is not true,” Jane said. She looked at her mother for answers.

“I am sorry but it is true, and I am not proud to say it but I had a hand in it. You framed him for stealing the diamond necklace, but it was never stolen, he hid it, in the underground room. He got the insurance money,” Mrs. Louis Andrew said.

“But you sent a man to jail for the rest of his life for what he did it do, GOD! I can't believe it,” Jane said.

“We were getting broke okay?! You could have been out of school if we didn't do that! Your dad didn't want to sell the necklace because he knew that it had value in the future but after that, we had to keep the game up, we lied, we had help from police commissioner Reynold and his colleague then, Mr. Matthew, they were just corrupt officers that can do the job well, so that was his everything went,” Mrs. Louis Andrew said.

“So didn't you try to at least grant him bail, so he could be free because you guys have already gotten the insurance money, didn't you try?” Jane asked. She was shocked and she felt guilty because of the reason.

“I could not do anything, my hand was tied. I realized what I had done, I visited him daily, and he requested a book, and I gave it to him, when I was talking to Mike’s father, he would usually highlight some words. There was a commissioner of police who was trying to crack down on the case but your dad saw him as a threat and he set up allegations and that man is Mr. Parker, he became friends with Mr. Jack, Mike’s father in prison. I tried getting bail for Mike but the only condition, he was given by Officer Reynold at that time was, to let him plead guilty and he will serve a little time in prison and be set free,” Mrs. Louis Andrew said.

“Did you agree?” Jane asked.

Mrs. Louis Andrew gasped and said, “his action said no, I got the news that he was dead, he committed suicide, and he wrote that he would rather, die than serve a sentence for what he didn't do, and be called an ex-convict in the society, I was heartbroken,”. She looked down, and she coughed hard again.

“What hearing all this, It is discouraging me from, going ahead with Dad, for my charity program, I don't know what to do,” Jane said.

“Don't stop, go ahead, you might save lives,” Mrs. Louis Andrew said.

Jane stood up and sat beside her and she asked “What happened after that?”

“The remaining part is so Mike, tell him that I need to see him,” Mrs. Louis Andrew said. She coughed again.

“Mom, you are not feeling well,” Jane said.

“You are right, help me get my pills on the fridge,” Mrs. Louis Andrew said.

Jane rushed to get the pills.

After the long day at her mom's place, Jane decided to go back to her mansion. She made sure she ignored her father as she walked into the house, she didn't feel like talking to him.

Jane was approached by the butler, “Good evening madam, I accomplished your task, do you like to arrange dinner or inform your father that you are home?”.

“No...no, please don't do that, don't inform him that I am home, please. And I am full, thank you for everything, I appreciate,” Jane said.

As she was about to go up to her room, the butler said “Madam, the secretary job vacancy, you asked me to put out, someone applied, and from the application, I think he would be a good fit,”. The Butler said.

“Wow, what is his name?” Jane asked the butler.

“Rob…”.
