We messed Up
Chapter 87
Karla’s POV
The plan was working perfectly. I was so happy to see Jake look up and notice me. The look of shock at seeing that I was inside the Moss Point pack, and about to end his mate, was etched on his face. I couldn’t stop the smirk I gave him. Little does he know that he will be accepting a new mate soon. He will have no choice in the matter. I was mentally patting myself on the back when shots started to ring out behind me. Now I see Jake smirking back at me, and I know that I was right about someone overhearing us last night.
I knew I had heard someone outside. I am furious that our plans were found out, and that we might not survive this. I just need to get this done. Once I kill Evie I will make Jake accept me. I can get past this, I just needed to push and move through this. Worse comes to worst, I can run back to my car and get the hell out of here. I am glad that we can always leave if we needed to, as this was just a spur of the moment plan. I ran at Evie with my hands already extending into claws. I am going to kill Evie by cutting her throat. I am then heading for the closest tree line to escape.
I feel bad that the rogues were killed, they had been fierce fighters and they were going to help us out a lot in this. I see my brother fighting Beau, and he seems to be holding his own. I knew that Aria and one of her brothers were supposed to take on Jake. Just to keep him off of me, while I end Evie. We had planned it all out, and they are still right behind me. I hear another couple of shots ring out, and I heard Aria gasp out in pain. I turned to see that her brothers had been killed, along with Ashley’s. They will both be feeling the pain of losing them, and it will make them weaker. We finally arrived where Jake and Evie had been sparring.
I hate that they both had the feeling of loss right now. Aria will be weak, and not able to hold Jake back for long. The rogue that had been behind her, had been shot as well. At least Ashley was seated in the car with Lyell when this happened. I am glad that I already had my claws out. Jake will weaken when I kill his mate. I smiled again, and then the hoodie that is on Evie is flipped back as I stepped up to her. It was not Evie, it is her mother Savannah. I am shocked to see her standing here. I had watched her train at Dark Marsh. I watched her sparring and she had even beat Steven. She didn’t train with the women, she trained with the men, and I didn’t see her get beaten. She was a great fighter, and I no longer wanted to fight anymore. I just need to get the hell out of here. My claws retract and I turned to run away with Aria, when I noticed that we are now surrounded.
No one had been around before, they had all run off towards the front gate. So where the hell had they been hiding? I know now that we will not be given an opportunity to leave on our own. I am sick about them finding out that we were coming. The element of surprise was taken away from us, and they were able to be prepared for us when we showed up. I am furious, and I watch as it hits the rest of the group that we will not be leaving here. Even if we do manage to kill the person we are fighting. I still want to hurt Evie, so I decided to taunt them. If I can’t get out of here on my own, I am going to make sure that Evie knows exactly what I think of her.
“So, I guess that your mate is still too weak to fight. You got me Jake. I fell for it, I thought that you were sparring with Evie. We both know that I will not make it out of this pack. How about you stop hiding your mate, and at least let me get a chance to fight her. She has had one-on-one training for at least a week, she isn’t a novice anymore. I heard that she was even getting to be a pretty good fighter. If I have to die, I want to at least get a shot at fighting her before I do,” I challenged, calling out loudly so my voice would carry. Knowing that she was probably close by, and I was right.
“You came to kill me, and you have been training hard for over 12 years. How would that be a fair fight? You act like you deserve a shot at me, well I refuse. I have only been training for about a week now. It is not worth my time, or effort, to fight you, Karla. It is wishful thinking on your part. If I were you I would take the easier route, and try to run back to your car. It would be a much quicker death for you to try that. But I can assure you that none of your group will be leaving Moss Point ever again,” Evie told me as she stepped up next to Jake. Watching him slip his arm around her and bend down to kiss the top of her head set me off. That is supposed to be me.
I am almost shaking in anger as I thought that this was going to work. The circle around Beau, and Steven are watching their fight. I can tell that Steven is starting to lose very badly. We thought that it would be easy for him to defeat Beau. Clearly when they sparred before, Beau had always taken it easy on him. He is not doing that anymore. Beau is furious, and he was not holding back. I almost wished my father were here to help us, like he did at Dark Marsh. I wanted to cry for Steven, but we both had wanted to do this. He will die before me, and I will be weakened from feeling that loss.
I see more people heading our way. Lyell and Ashley were handcuffed with silver cuffs and being lead towards us. I can tell that they will be receiving the same punishment as we will be getting. I can see their shock at seeing all the rogues that we had conned into helping us, lying on the ground, dead. I know we were all cocky and thought that we could get in and out of here in ten minutes, and be home free. We would be able to go anywhere we wanted after that. I doubt that Jake would have had the energy to find us after we took Evie away from him. None of us expected that we would get caught, let alone punished over this. We all thought that having the element of surprise, plus our being well prepared, would have resulted in success.
Right behind Ashley, I see my father heading our way. It hits me why I didn’t scent anyone. It was because it was my father. His scent wouldn’t have tipped either of us off. He must have been shocked hearing what we were planning. I can see the disappointment all over his face, and I think that he is mad enough right now to allow Jake to kill us both. I need to try to save us all, because I didn’t want to die. I just wanted to get her back for costing us so much.
“Dad,” I called out to him, “Please, I was wrong. I was just so angry and Lyell told us where she was. I just wanted to get some revenge for our family. Please save us. I swear to the Goddess I will never approach Evie, or Jake, again.”
“I told you to leave them alone, Karla. You just cannot do it. I will not be helping either of you. I will be hurt by this, but you need to be punished for what you have done. You got me involved in it at Dark Marsh, by begging for help. If I knew then what I know now, I would have stayed at Dark Marsh like Jake originally offered, instead of trying to take care of you all. None of you are grateful, you just keep trying to use me, and I just can’t anymore. I just can’t, you have earned this punishment from your actions previous. You were given a second chance, and this was what you did with it. You will be dealt with today. I will not be helping you,” my father told me.
I cannot believe that he is just going to allow us to be killed like this. He had a responsibility to us both to take care of us. Out of all of us, he was the best fighter, plus Jake liked him. If he refused to help than we are both as good as dead. I can see that Steven is tired, the fight is drawing to an end, and it is not an end that has good result for him. Beau is not tired, and he is not toying with him either. Beau wants this fight over with, and Steven is losing a lot of blood. I am horrified at the thought of seeing my brother killed. I do not want to see it at all, I refuse to watch this play out.
I see that most of the group in the area were watching the fight between them. It was a bloody battle, and I watched as my brother phased into his wolf in a last ditch effort to try to kill Beau. The circle around them widened as their wolves required more room to be able to turn around and fight. I took advantage of them watching the fight to lunge at Evie. I will definitely die today, but I will make sure that she does too. If I don’t kill her then all of this will just be in vain.
I made it about two feet before I was knocked to the ground. I looked up and I saw Savannah growling at me, as she had been watching me and not the fight. She knew what I was going to do, and managed to slow me down, but this was not over. I was going to kill Evie today. I could not allow her to live out the good life that I have wanted for so long. It wasn’t fair, and I just couldn’t allow it. I extended my hands back into claws again and made another attempt. Savannah had expected it, and stopped me again. She had taken off Evie’s hoodie that she had been wearing earlier, in an effort to keep me from identifying her. She was in a sports bra, and leggings now, and she was ready to kill. I could see it in her eyes.
“I didn’t get to end the others like I wanted to, the Council ended up doing it. But I will be damned if I let you get away with with trying to kill my daughter,” Savannah growled out.
“So be it,” I replied to her like I was not concerned about her at all. “I will be glad to kill you, and then I will kill your precious daughter.”
