Chapter 86: Surprising the Attackers
Jake’s POV
I didn’t want Evie out here, and she was adamant about helping us. I am so thankful that her parents also shot it down too. Evie was learning fast, but she was not going to be able to defend herself against Karla just yet. Karla had been fighting for a long time. She trained with her father, who was an excellent fighter, and her brother, who excelled at fighting too. We were going to have our hands full out there today. We do not know what we are up against just yet. I couldn’t fight properly while trying to look after Evie too. I can’t let anything happen to her. She is my everything, and I plan on making sure none of them leave here.
Lane had his friends set up at 1 p.m. to be lookout on the three perimeter fences. He knew that they wouldn’t just drive up to the gate. We knew exactly when they arrived. We were told that they now had a total of 21 people in their group. Which that honestly wasn’t a lot, but it was sufficient when you have a known target. They were planning on getting in and out of here, after killing Evie. I was not going to allow that to happen. I had spent several sleepless hours last night trying to figure out what Karla was going to do here today. Why she was willing to take the risk?
I know Steven was with them. He was angry that both Beau and I refused to just demote him, and allow him to stay at Dark Marsh. It wasn’t going to happen. He had told Karla about our finding Evie and what had happened out there. I didn’t want that spreading around the pack. Evie was having a hard enough time with jealous she-wolves giving her problems every time she turned around. She didn’t need the pack, who had already leaning towards Karla’s side, to have another reason to not like, or trust her. Evie got their respect as soon as she stood up for herself. The pack realized that Karla was a liar, and they swiftly changed their minds after the trial.
I can see from this attack that Karla was never going to give up. I was almost positive that she was killing Evie to try to become my chosen mate. What she was not aware of, was the fact that if she did manage to kill Evie, it would be her blood spilt next. I would not allow her to live if she hurt my mate in any way. I was currently sparring with Savannah who was a really strong fighter. She was dressed in Evie clothes, and had her hair in a ponytail to look like her. At a distance she does, so we had her sparring with her back to where they were coming from. They were not going to know it wasn’t her, until they were right on top of us. Lane was nervous, but they both were firm on Evie not being out here with us. They lost her once, they were not going to lose her again.
Karla was going to be outmatched with Savannah. She was tough, and had landed some really good kicks on me. She would grin at me, and bring me back to the present, as I was nervously watching the area that they were in. Thankfully, Mike had gotten a lot of much needed information for us, so we all knew that the sound of the Lamborghini starting, and revving up, would be when they would show themselves. Lane was standing nearby, but hidden from view, with about 15 warriors with him.
Some of them were mine, and were filled in on what was about to happen. Lee had kept us informed of what was going on as Lyell and Ashley had run into the packhouse together. We could not share a mindlink, as we were different packs. So, having both packs there, they could only relay the information verbally to each other. They were after his car keys, to get his car back. We already had people waiting for them inside the office when they got there. I am sure that it will be a surprise for them. Mike was in the Alphas office to help us because I knew it would be too hard for him to see his children be killed. He knew why, but it is still goingto be hard for him after the fact.
When that car started, it would be a warrior inside it, not Lyell. They would never know it wasn’t him because of the window tint. He was going to drive it to the gate like Lyell would. It was obvious that Lyell was going to be the bait to draw us off the training field. We do not belong here, so we would not be involved in the mindlink for us to go to the gate. Lee and his team were waiting as they knew that nineteen more people were still here, waiting in the trees. They were just waiting until their group were almost to the training field. Then he and his men were going to start taking them out. We didn’t want anyone getting away, and this was the best plan that we had come up with this morning.
We were ready and prepared, even if some of them did manage to get back over the wall. All of their vehicles were about to be boxed in when they leave the area that they are hiding in, to come over the training field. Whoever does manage to make it back over the wall, were not going to be going anywhere. They would be dealt with by my warriors who were currently waiting on the other side of the wall. We all heard the vehicle fire up. The warrior must have heard Lyell do this a hundred times, as it was clear that someone loved to hear the roar of that powerful engine revving up.
It was time, and people started running from the training field towards the gates, just like they were instructed. We didn’t know if any of their people were going to attack at the gate or not. Mike had been shocked by what he had overheard and bumped into something on the ground as he backed away. They had just moved into a rental home, and he had been taking the trash out, when he heard them plotting in the garage. He was so disappointed in his children, and their friends for doing this. He had told Karla and Steven both to leave it alone, to stop trying to get petty revenge. Karla had basically caused this whole thing. Yet she showed him who she was last night. He honestly had no idea just how uncaring his children were to what he told them. He knew after hearingtheir plans that they were never going to stop, so he had to stop them. Apparently things had fallen apart in his family now. His only request was when this was done, could he return back to Dark Marsh, alone.
If this isn’t a set-up, which we have also planned for, I am going to let him come back home. His family was terrible and he had no idea who they were, until now. I kept my eyes on Savannah as she threw a punch, and when I straightened back up, I see the first of them heading out of the tree line. They were not running. They were strolling, like they had all the time in the world. But we knew it was to keep from drawing attention to themselves. We didn’t smell rogues, so they must be using a spray to hide their scent. That in itself was a tip off. Everyone has a scent, so we knew that a lack of scent was a red flag.
I see Karla’s blonde hair from a distance, and she is heading right towards me. I keep seeing more coming out of the trees behind her. She wanted to kill Evie, she had clearly called who she wanted, and that was no surprise to us. I was just glad that now that they were banished, they did not have a pack mindlink anymore. If they did, then Ashley could have told them to run, that it was a trap. But it too late for all of them now. I was counting them and I knew that once the last person in their group left the tree area, that they were going to start picking them off once they got to the halfway point. We wanted to get them between the trees, and the training field before they let them know that we knew they were here. I see Steven heading directly for Beau, and linked him a warning.
Steven had always been jealous of Beau. He always wanted to challenge Beau to spar, and fight against him during our trainings. He just seemed like he always had an issue with him. After I banished Karla and her family. I had several people come to me and tell me several things I hadn't known. Like the fact that that Karla had told Steven she would make him the new Beta when she became Luna. I knew he went along with her for a reason, he just didn’t want to admit why he did. He was arrogant, and talked down to most of the warriors. He was a strong fighter, but he was not going to beat Beau in a fight. That was why he could never challange him. He couldn't beat him in a fair fight.
All of them were out of the tree line now, and heading straight towards us. I am not going to lie, a lot of the rogues they had with them, looked tough. I told Lee to give them a few more meters before we let them know that we knew that they were here. Lee had 3 men with him on the roof. Each of them were to choose 3 people out of the group to deal with. Most of the members of their group would already be dealt with, by Lee and his team. We were going to be fighting the other 9 of them ourselves, as Savannah was going to deal with Ashley, and Lane was going to deal with Lyell. Savannah was going to be dealing with Karla first though. I can see the smirk on Karla’s face as I pretended to be surprised at seeing her.
“Kiss your mate goodbye, Jake, because she is about to go meet the Goddess,” Karla called out from less than 50 feet away. Savannah froze in front of me like she was scared, but the expression on her face was scary. Karla is going to be getting her ass kicked in a matter of moments.
“Do it now, Lee,” I linked him, and several shots rang out from the roof of the packhouse.
It was my turn to smirk at Karla, as they suddenly realized that we knew they were coming. Karla shrugged off the surprise and started running towards us. I could tell that she no longer cared if she was killed here today, or not. She was going to take Evie out with her. When she reached us, and reached out to grab Evie’s arm, she was surprised to see Savannah standing there instead. The look on her face was priceless, as she knew that she wasn’t just going to attack a novice fighter anymore. Karla started backing away to run back in the direction that she came from, as she clearly no longer wanted to fight anymore.
