Chapter 100: Wedding Day
Jake’s POV
**One Month Later**
Today is the day of our wedding. I wanted for Greyson and Gracie to be able to be included in our wedding, but Gracie wanted to stand up for Evie. Plus, although she was fine with the fact that we were werewolves, her family would be less welcoming about it. Gracie had already decided that she was going to become a werewolf too. We had already got with the elder’s to get that started. Gracie actually took it better that Evie did. But Gracie knew more about the supernatural. She liked it, and had read up on it. She thought that it was awesome that she was going to become a she-wolf. She was so happy that she had met Greyson.
The police did show up here, and several of us got questioned about if we saw or heard anything that night. We are a few miles away from Victoria's land. We told them that we had heard the shots, but just assumed someone was out hunting. The local police were well aware that some did illegally hunt out here. How were we to know the difference. Most stay to themselves out here in the bayou, and the police had nothing to connect us to what had happened. The story did make national news. It was a shocking story and just like Lane said, the Coleman's business suffered greatly when the story was exposed. Victoria did not come out of it in a good light. Lane was just messing with Victoria about buying the business. But it was picked up for a steal after this.
Rhett did go to college. He had actually left early and was on campus when this whole thing all went down. Evie felt bad for him, because she knew he didn't chose to encourage, or support, his mother in this. James had to end up selling off her car, and their house. Buying a much smaller home and getting a job working for another company. You could tell he mourned the loss of his wife. He seemed to age ten years in a months time from this. They did find her body, and had to do a closed casket because of her wounds. From what Evie told me, James did love her. But she was not a good person. She might have been when they first met, but he should have been the voice of reason when she came up with her crazy plan. She would still be alive today, if he had. We do not talk about at anymore here at Dark Marsh. It just makes everyone upset.
It was a struggle to realize that Victoria taking Evie like she did, had brought not just me and Evie together. But Gracie and my Delta Greyson together as well. So something good did happen from tragedy. I was happy to stand with Beau, as he married my sister, Sarah. She looked stunning, and elegant, as she came down the aisle with our father. My mother could not be happier about it. Both of her children had found their mates, and she was just waiting on her grandpups now. I don’t know who will be pregnant first. I just know that I cannot wait for Evie to one day grow large with our pups. Everything that I ever dreamed of, what I wanted in my life, was now in place. I knew exactly how lucky I was.
Luckily one of our pack members, a mated she-wolf, had a business in wedding planning. Usually this is not something that we do, she has a lot of human clients. I just want everyone who sees my mate to know that she is claimed in every way possible. So no matter if we are with other wolves, or with humans, they know that she will never be theirs. She is my mate, and I will never give her up. The wedding went quickly, and my parents stayed here and just switched to the opposite row to watch mine. We have this planned to the most minute detail. My parents will go and take their photo’s with Sarah and Beau, once our wedding is complete. Sarah and Beau will get the rest of their pictures taken before my parents come to them.
My mother, and my soon to be mother-in-law Savannah, have taken the planning of these weddings very seriously. They have three photographers, and two videographers. The best part was that since all our friends and family are here. After we get our weddings and receptions done. We will be there to watch our parents do this too. Just not with the officiant. They are just exchanging rings, and speaking to each other. It gives them time to get ready after they eat. I think that Sarah and Evie are more excited about our parents doing this, than they are for themselves.
I already knew that Lane and Savannah were going to have Evie stand between them when they did theirs. They wanted to include her in every part of this. They had been so happy to find her, and they spend a lot of time with her. I had talked Evie into getting a beautiful second dress, so she could change out of her wedding dress for when she was going to go stand up their with them. Savannah was going to tell her that the tiffany blue dress that I had bought for her, was for her to wear tonight. We had strung up lights that ran all around, to amp up the lights we already had in place. Our mothers had gone all out to put this together. The backyard looked beautiful.
I was happy when I finally got to move up to take my spot as the groom. Watching as my smiling sister, and my Beta left to take their pictures. I can see why this would be a good thing to do. These pictures will last a lifetime. they will be a loving tribute to when they found each other. This also meant that we were close to my wedding starting. I was not scared at all, I was excited and couldn’t wait to see Evie. I waited until the music started and couldn’t stop myself from immediately turning around to see her.
My heart was in my throat when I did. She was stunning. I can’t see anything but my mate walking towards me. I have always known that she was beautiful. Seeing her today, I just cannot take my eyes off of her. Her dress was completely different from Sarah’s. Evie looked like a real life princess in her ballgown. She just seems to float towards me. I have never seen anyone in my life, more beautiful than my mate. I completely get why the humans do this. I have never seen Evie wearing makeup before, but she was utterly gorgeous.
I wanted to run to her, but my feet wouldn’t move forward. I was awestruck as I looked at her. My whole body was frozen as I watched the love of my life gliding towards me, with a big smile on her face. I can see the smile on Lane’s face too, when they stopped in front of me. I couldn’t wait to step forward and take Evie’s hand. As far as I was concerned, she already belonged to me as the mate bond was very strong between us. What we are doing today is merely a formality. I was happy to do this for my mate. She had grown up in the human world, and this was the norm for them. I am all in on anything that binds her even closer to me, than she already was.
I didn’t realize that I had tears on my face until Evie reached up to brush them gently away with her thumb. Her smile up at me was brilliant. I have never seen her so happy. I will do anything in my power to make sure she has a reason to smile like this every single day. I was so caught up in looking at her, that she was having to squeeze my hand to let me know that the officiant was waiting on me to speak. I don’t think that I will ever forget how her eyes were sparkling at me each time she had to nudge me. I didn’t care that everyone knew that I was so taken with her.
The night just flew by for me. I did everything that was done in a traditional wedding with my mate. I loved every moment of it. Even standing to take the pictures which I am normally not patient for, was fine. I was already making mental notes of where I was going to be putting them in both my office, as well as Evie’s office.
Everyone present probably knew how strong the mate bond was. If they didn’t know now, then hopefully they would be finding their own true mate soon. I just couldn’t take my eyes off of Evie all day. She looked beautiful, and I know how happy her own parents were over this. I have never seen Evie so happy before. She was more radiant than she ever had been, she was clearly coming into her own. She was a great fighter. Her mother was one of the very best trainers that I have ever seen. Between her and Beau, Evie was one of the strongest fighters in the pack now. She never failed to surprise me with how quickly she learned to do anything. Her mind was always looking to improve, or streamline something, to make it better.
She was actively looking for ways to cut costs in the pack, as she knew that I wanted to buy more land. She knew that I wanted to either add on to the current packhouse, or build another one on the additional land. I was holding her in my arms during our dance, when she looked up with a smile. I smiled back down at her, and was so glad that she was so happy.
“I had been feeling off for the last two weeks and had gone to the infirmary to get check out this morning,” Evie told me. I stopped dancing to look at her as if I could tell what was wrong with her myself. Evie giggled and said, “I am fine. Trust me daddy.”
It tool a moment for me to realize what she meant, “I, I, am going to be a daddy?” I managed to get out.
She nodded and said, “It was so hard not to tell anyone. They knew I was happy, but they just thought it was because of the wedding. I didn’t want to tell anyone before you found out. Our pups will be here in less than four months. I am almost one month pregnant.”
I do not know what to do first. I am so excited that I wanted to yell out and announce it to everyone here. Before I realized what she said. She said pups, as in more than one. I am crying again, this had truly been the best day. I cannot believe that we are going to have pups running around here soon. I reached down and hold her tight. Everyone knew that we had stopped dancing, but didn’t know why, as we were talking quietly with each other on the dance floor.
“Twins?” I had to ask to clarify. Still stunned at this wonderful news.
She nodded at me and said, “The doctor told me that he could hear multiple heartbeats. I had to tell him to let me tell you. He wanted to announce it to the whole pack. But I wanted you to hear it first. I just thought that my nausea was from something I had eaten, but I couldn’t shake it. I didn’t want you to worry, so I went in today to get checked out.”
“I have to let everyone know,” I told her and motioned for the music playing to be turned down. I wanted the whole world to know that my mate was going to have my pups, but I will start with my pack. I had Evie tell them all after the room got quiet. The celebration really ramped up after that. I kept an eye out for her when I didn’t have her wrapped up in my arms. She has been the best thing to ever happen to me. I could not believe how much my life has changed in less than two and a half months.
