Chapter 243: Feeling unsafe

For a moment he remained in silence, like he was thinking, but soon, he took a deep breath.

"They are living with their parents, I guess. Why do you ask this?"

To hear that they are living freely, even if I imprisoned them, made me angry. However, before I would have answered him, I felt Nyco's discomfort in my mind. He wanted me to remain quiet. He sent me the thought of their parents. I saw them fuming because I revealed the truth about them, and I was afraid they would want to take their revenge on me. I was afraid that they would rush the happenings, and that meant I put Aiden in the risk of kidnapping.

"I was just thinking. I need to know who I have really lost, so I can organise my pack for the future." I said, and it seemed like my answer satisfied Xavier. He gave me more information about the betas living with him. I thanked him, and I hung up.

I sighed, then I called William.

"Olivia? Is there something wrong?" He took the phone like that, and even if I knew the number belonged to Olivia, I felt a little frustrated because he was so worried about my mate.

"It is Asher. I have no phone yet."

"Oh. How are you?"

"Much better. Thanks. I am home now. Well, I am still in York."

"I am glad to hear that. How can I help you?"

"I actually would like to ask you for some help."

"I am listening."

"I feel Aiden isn’t safe. As moving is still painful for me, I would like to ask you if you could help me with some guards."

There was a little silence on the other side of the line.

"Why do you think he is at any risk? His wolf is the strongest werewolf I've ever seen."

"Yes, Flint is strong, but not stronger than wolfsbane." I said, and I think my frustration was obvious.

"Asher, we caught them and believe when I say they are locked well. There is no way they could escape."

"I know that, but they also had a few people who helped them."

He sighed again.

"I thought Olivia told you about Irene."

I rolled my eyes.

"Yes, she did, but that still doesn't mean they aren't planning something against Aiden."

"Look, Asher, I will give you guards, if that puts you at ease, but I don't think you should worry so much. I think you should focus on your health. You need to get back in health, as their lawsuit is coming soon. You better be fit to attend that."

I sighed. There was so much to say, but I held myself back from speaking.

"So, will you send some guards?"

"Yes. They will be there in an hour."

"Thank you."

"You are welcome." He said, and he hung up. I put the phone down next to me, and for a few minutes I stayed motionless. I just stared at the wall.

However, in a minute, the door opened up, and Aiden stormed in the room, followed by Olivia.

"Dad? Why don't you believe Flint would take care of me?"

I rolled my eyes.

"Aiden, why is that if your mother, or I ask you to leave us some privacy, you don't give a damn about it?"

My words made Aiden stop suddenly, and his face showed his embarrassment. However, soon he shrugged his shoulders, which made me frown.

"I can't do anything about my hearing. Or do you want me to move to another town so I can not hear your conversations?"

"There are many ways to make yourself deaf, and Flint knows that well. And this is the first, and I hope the last time, I ask you to obey us when we are asking you something."

My anger was obvious, but I didn't even want to hold myself back. I was worried that later that would cause serious problems in the future.

Olivia just stood there. I knew he didn't agree with me. She thought my worry was absolutely unnecessary, but she agreed that we needed to teach Aiden to listen to us.

She walked closer, and she sat down next to me.

"Asher. After Irene told me about what had happened to her, I was talking to Walter, and we both made sure the members of the community were safe. We also have guards around York, and they won't let anyone get close to us."

I looked at her, and I think my gaze showed my frustration again.

"Why don't you understand Walter is probably helping them?"

Olivia rolled her eyes, then she shook her head, and Aiden frowned.

"What are you talking about, dad? How could Walter help them? That is insane. He is helping us."

"Aiden, I don't want you to join this conversation."

"It is about me. You are worrying they will take me. Why wouldn't I stay?"

I sighed. I really wanted to shout at him, but I swallowed instead. When I thought I would die, I made a deal with the Moon Goddess. I told him I will be a better father and mate, so I held myself back.

"Asher. After what you have been through, I understand your concerns, but I think that is absolutely unnecessary. Walter would never harm us, and he would never let us be harmed. I know why you think that, and I understand that as well, but please get this out of your head." Olivia told me calmly. She held my hand, and I looked at it first, then I looked back at her.

"I am sorry Liv, but till we don't have all the culprits, I can't be at ease."

I looked at Aiden.

"Alpha William is sending some guards. They will be around York, making sure of our safety. If anything happens, just know that they are there."

Aiden shook his head, and he was about to say something, but this time Olivia looked at him meaningfully.

"Aiden, until you aren't an adult, your safety is our responsibility, and you must do what we say."

"But mum, that is insane."

"Aiden! You don't argue with us. Okay?"

Aiden sighed again, then he lifted his hands up before he left the room quietly.
