Chapter 87 88

Chapter 87 88

Cecil came down to join me on the carpet as I picked my phone out of my purse to check the cause of the vibration. It was a message from both Victor and Damon. Damon was asking me to hurry up because he wanted to get the speech over with and have a fun night, and Victor was telling me I looked gorgeous, probably killing any men who saw me on my way here.

I tried to fight the smile and blush as I looked up to the rooftop. The fairy lights strung across the edges of the building illuminated their faces as they were both on the rooftop, holding a glass of wine each and staring down at the people

I avoided looking at Victor because I know I might just burst into a blushing mess, so I just gave Damon a curt nod and turned to Cecil.

”Who's making you blush?” Cecil teased, peering over my shoulder.

“No one,” I quickly replied, slipping my phone back into my purse.

“Lover, huh?” She smirked. “You should have seen your face.”

I nudged her playfully. “Damon is about to have a meltdown. We'll be giving our speech now, you can wait in the car or upstairs, I'll have them vacate a room for you”

“Oh, Sure, I'll greet some familiar faces and wait in the room” She smiled. “Can I order room service? Is it possible? I can't relax at the beach because it's also crowded and there's almost an entire pack here so the risk of me blowing up the pack house is high”

I laughed and ushered her to the big bar outside. “I'm sure there's room service. You can relax inside the bar if there isn't, I heard it's less crowded in there.”

“Okay, go on. If you don't see, just know I'm getting fucked by a guy who has a period kink” She gave me a slight nudge before disappearing into the crowd.

Gross.

As I entered inside with Zara following closely behind, I spotted some of the council members near the front, discussing, they bowed when I walked past them to the end of the room. Halfway up the stairs I asked Zara to vacate one of the rooms in the pack house, clean it up and arrange it for Cecil. She nodded and walked away and I resumed my journey to the rooftop.

Damon was pacing slightly, looking clearly anxious to get the speeches out of the way. When he saw us, he gave a big wave, relief washing over his face.

Okay, weird alert!

“Finally!” He exclaimed as we approached. “I was about to start without you.” He said, giving him a quick hug and that was when I saw them, three council members on dark red seats facing front and discussing with Victor who was also sitting and on their right was Penelope, hair in bun and wearing a tight midi, off-shoulder black dress that has transparent flowers all over it.

That was what the pretense was for.

The member greeted me and Victor gave me a nod with a smile. Selene —it's been long I even saw her—in a casual attire of mildly ripped jean and a t-shirt, she bowed and cleaned one of the empty dark red seat for me to sit.

Penelope on the other hand had to overdo it, she gave me a slight hug and asked why I was late, she freaking called me bestie.

I just gave her a tight smile and returned my gaze to Damon.

He nodded and made his way to the few inches podium set up at the front of the roof, where he and Victor was standing earlier. He tapped the microphone, and the entire crowd gradually quieted down. Everyone turned to face him. I could even see familiar faces and Cecil throwing me kisses when Zara walked up to her, she must have finished preparing the room.

“Good evening, everyone,” Damon began, his voice booming. I just croseed my legs, relaxed my head on my palm and watched him did his thing.

“Thank you all for coming tonight, this wouldn't be a thing without you. This festival is a celebration of our pack, our bonds, and our future. And if course fo those who are yet to find their mates.”

I glanced around the crowd, seeing nods of agreement and smiles of appreciation.

Meh!

“We have faced challenges, but we have faced them together,” he continued. “And we celebrate not just our survival, but our growth and our unity. Tonight is the night we bond with our significant other, we love each other the more and thank the goddess for the love we get and give...”

...

...

When he finished, the crowd erupted in applause. Damon stepped down from the stage and waved me over to say something. I had absolutely nothing in mind, but I nodded and walked to where he stood. As I looked through the crowd, I couldn't help but notice people pressed against the walls, already getting horny and shoving their tongues down each other's throat.

Now you know why kids weren't allowed.

I reached the stage, tapped the mic twice to make sure it was working so as not to embarrass myself, and I prepared. “Please try not to wander too deep into the beach,” I started, my voice echoing slightly in the large space. “There will be lifeguards and medical personnel around in case of emergencies. And just a heads up, there are no more empty rooms left, so you might either build a tent or have sex in the open. No one actually cares. And please if you brought your kids, take them back home. Enjoy the festival.” I waved once I was done, and the crowd erupted in applause again.

I turned off the mic and stepped down from the podium just in time to see Victor wishing the council members a great festival as they left. He caught my eye and gave me a small, approving nod. Damon also left with Selene following closely behind.
