Chapter 85

Cecil groaned as she tried to fit into her dress. Not the legs or the thighs, just the sudden bloating that had her angry and out of shape.

“Fucking period!” She cursed under her breath as the stylist she called tried to drag the dress up her stomach. “Just had to come at the wrong time.”

I focused on twirling the teabag inside the cup of hot water for her, trying my best not to say any wrong word.

I did feel pity for her, being super excited about the festival and her mate, and then suddenly having her period. I couldn't even suggest staying home because I knew that would hurt more than the period cramps did.

I mean, she really prepared for it, she brought the idea of going to London to pick out a dress for me because she wanted me to be as excited as she was, she knew I wasn't that thrilled about the festival because surely, I wouldn't fuck Damon just because the religion and festival demanded it.

Every fighting couples were expected to mate on the heat festival, it was like a ritual or something, but it was said to heal, mating during the heat festival brought healing to those broken relationship, it was like the wedding night stuff.

“Maybe we can find another dress?” I suggested cautiously.

She shot me a glare that could have melted ice. “No. This is the dress. I’m wearing it.”

The stylist, a very, very patient woman called Sarah, nodded sympathetically. “We can make it work. Just need a few adjustments.”

Cecil sighed, rolling her eyes. “Fine, do whatever you have to do.”

I dropped the teaspoon and handed her the cup of tea.

“Here, this might help.”

She took it with a grunt of thanks and sipped it slowly, her eyes closing for a moment. “I'm sorry about all this”

“I know,” I said, standing next to her. “It’s really bad timing.”

She nodded, taking another sip. “I just want to enjoy this stupid. I’ve been looking forward to it for months.”

Sarah continued to work on the dress, making small adjustments here and there. Cecil watched her in the mirror, still frowning but a bit more relaxed now that she had the tea.

After what felt like an eternity, the stylist stepped back and smiled. “There, try it now.”

Cecil stood up, carefully sliding the dress back on. This time, it fit a bit better, though it was still snug around her middle. She turned this way and that, examining herself critically.

“It’s okay,” she said finally. “It’ll do.”

I breathed a sigh of relief. “Good. Now let’s finish getting ready. We don’t want to be late.” I took back the empty cup from Cecil before sending Sarah off with an ‘i'll call you later’ smile.

We were not at Cecil's house but mine, inside my room since almost every body going to the festival must stop at the house to greet the Alpha and Luna as a form of respect, which is something I wasn't really into, but it'd be odd if they came to say hi and I wasn't in, on the day of the heat festival, I was not with Damon as I was expected and supposed to do. That would be a big news.

“Goodness” Cecil threw her head back with loud sigh as Sarah left. “I'm sorry I'm just being grumpy and sad and stupid, but tonight was supposed to be my best night and this stupid period just had to ruin everything. Now I can't have sex with my mate, that's if I find him or if he doesn't reject me...” She bursted into tears. “I should just stay home, that'd be the best”

I sighed. “or we could just steal food and drinks then sit at the Parkhouse rooftop and rate all the hot guys down there.”

She sniffed. Wiping the back of her hand over her eyes to clean the tears but smudged the mascara and eyeliner instead. “Really? But that would mean you wouldn't have your perfect night with you lover”

Ahhhhh!

“Okay, can we drop this ‘Lover’ thing? You've been on it since last week”

She rolled her eyes. “Like you don't think about him but than I talk about him.”

“Well, Damon could hear you” I stated the obvious.

“Right. The Damon who just dropped a very loud knock that almost made me deaf on your door to tell you he's leaving and he's possibly taking the best car in the garage.”

Okay.

“You make me look stupid when you say it like that.”

She groaned. “I hope he's not going to ask his human woman guard to seize all the car keys a d make us drive to the festival in crappy cars or cab. Anyway, shut up and just tell me how I look, I'm tired of standing”

I gave her attire another long look, the dress was sewn like three to four times so I guess Sarah just loose some of the threads, that I hope wouldn't cause a problem. “You look gorgeous. Now excuse me, I need to bath”

I took another shower after I was done putting her into her clothes. I was too sweaty to dress up without taking a shower because Cecil didn't feel good with the AC on.

I came out of the bathroom just after she finished applying her makeup, which looked very simple, you'd think she didn't have anything on.

I stopped watching her when she threw me a glare and I began to quickly dressed up.

You know the feeling you get when you test a dress and it fits you perfectly like it was made for you, but then it's the d-day, then you wear the dress again and if just makes you feel like a star, like you're definitely going to steal the show.

That was what I felt, that was how I felt.

The heat festival was one of the biggest festivals held by berry-woods pack every year, all border would be closed so no outsiders were allowed to leave and all visitors surely understood the rules that guide the pack, so they either closed themselves inside their houses or left before the occasion started.

I knew that every enemy and friend I ever had would be there, so it was best to leave an awesome impression.
