Book Two-Her Alpha Savior- Chapter Twenty-Six

Chapter Twenty-Six

Josephine

When I continue watching what Max is doing, he leans closer to her and says something to her so quietly that only she can hear him and whatever he says to her suddenly makes her turn white as a ghost and I see her nod ever so slightly and then he drops her to the ground.

When she looks to me, she seems to regret ever saying anything to me and I want to smile and give her a smug look, but I refrain from doing so because I know that once I am home, they will punish me severely and I am now afraid to go home, especially with the look she is now giving me.

Max then walks over to me, and I can see a look in his eye but I’m not sure what it means. It confuses me a little and I don’t know what to make of it.

“Are you okay Josie? How are you feeling? Other than not being able to feel your fingers and toes of course.”

“I’m doing okay, I guess. I’m feeling a bit sleepy after all this excitement. Does anyone know what happen? I can’t seem to remember what happen and how I got here.”

“We know what happen, but the doctor wants us to wait to tell you anything to see what you can come up with on your own, he thinks it has something to do with your wolf, and that maybe you trying to remember on your own, will help bring your wolf out. Why don’t you try to get some rest and I will come by later to check on you?”

“O-Okay Alpha, thank you for coming by to check on me. I appreciate you coming by today and coming back later, although you don’t have to, I know you are probably busy.”

“It’s not a problem. Really I want to come by and check on you.”

He says this with a megawatt smile, and I can’t help but return the smile. He is sweet enough to come by to check on me and I don’t want to be rude.

He makes his way to the door and stops; he turns back around and looks at my parents.

“I almost forgot Tanya, Thomas; my parents need your help with some stuff around the packhouse. They are expecting you right away. And Heather Stephanie has something she wanted to show you, I’m not sure what, probably something girly. Whatever. But they are expecting you all right away, I wouldn’t keep them waiting.”

He says all this with a roll of his eyes and when he looks to me, he gives me a wink and turns to leave my hospital room.

When Max finally walks out behind my parents and Heather, I finally let loose a breath I didn’t realize I was holding. During all the excitement I’m surprised Sarah hasn’t said anything, she must have been hiding away in the corner of the room, because once everyone is gone she steps forward and grabs me in a tight hug that I can feel all the way to my bones, I may not be able to truly feel it but I can feel it in my heart, I can feel how worried for me she was and still is, I can feel the love she has for me and I can feel the support she is giving me.

“I’m so glad you are okay, I was so worried when I found you, you weren’t breathing very well, and we thought.”

She stops mid-sentence like she was scared to say it, like saying it would make it a reality.

“I’m okay, Sarah. Don’t worry. I’m okay.”

I say this and I try to give her hand a squeeze, but it doesn’t work, I can’t make my hands do what I want them to do, and I hate it. This is terrible. What if I never get the feeling back in my hands. What else could go wrong. I haven’t shifted into my wolf in awhile and now I am unable to move my hand or feet.

“Don’t go their Jo, the doctor is going to figure out what went wrong, and he is going to fix this. Don’t’ go there. Please. We love you and we need you, Jo.”

“We?”

She has a look of shock on her face like she just realized she said something she shouldn’t have.

“We, yea. Like me, Alpha and Luna, the whole pack.”

She is trying cover up for something and I am going to find out what she is hiding. She never says we unless it entails, she and I never her and someone else.

“No, Sarah. You only ever mean we as in me and you. What are you hiding from me? We don’t keep secrets from each other. Tell me what is going on.”

“I wish I could, but I can’t right now, but soon you will find out, please don’t make me say anymore. I promise everything is going to get better. Please just trust me on this.”

What could she be hiding from me? She and I don’t have secrets, we don’t keep anything from each other. But right now, I can’t really do much except take her word for whatever she is trying to tell me.

“Fine.”

She gives me a smile and I know she is up to something.

“But I will find out what you are hiding. I know you have your reasons but not telling me whatever it is your keeping, but I will figure it out.”

She stands back up straight and gives me a smile, and I know she is most definitely hiding something. Which now makes me even more determined to figure out whatever it is.

“I’m going to go grab us some dinner and I will be back soon. You take a nap or something and I will be back with some food.”

“Okay, I’ll be here. Bring back something yummy.”

When Sarah leaves, I turn my head away from the door and try to sleep. I hear Sarah walk to the door and I hear it click shut, Before I can drift off to sleep, I hear the door to my room open again and when I crack an eye open to secretly see who it is, I’m surprised to see Max back soon. I pretend to be asleep so I can see what he will say or do if he thinks I don’t know that he is here.

“Josie, are you awake?”

I don’t say anything. I want to make him think I am sleeping. I also try to stay calm and keep my heart rate slow, so he doesn’t hear it pick up its pace.

“I guess you are sleeping little one.”

Little one? Why would he call me that?

“I can’t wait for tomorrow, Josie. I have prayed to the moon goddess for the last year now that you would wake up tomorrow and realize what I have known for the last year. It has been so hard to keep my distance and to keep my wolf under control.”

What on earth is he talking about. What is tomorrow. I need to remember to ask the doctor when he comes in later. This statement also makes me wonder how long I have been asleep.

“Josie, I hope after tomorrow you will give me a chance. I know you have had a hard last couple years, but I want to be able to make it up to you, and I want to be able to show you that you are truly worthy of all that could be given to you.”

What is going on right now, Max has been acting strange the last couple months and everything he is saying right now makes everything he has done lately seem even more strange.

“Josie…my little mate. I can’t wait to show you all that the world has to offer, I just hope and pray that you will give me the chance to prove to you that I can be everything you want and need in a true mate.”

MY WHAT NOW?!?!?

Did he just say what I think he did? I can’t be his mate, I’m not a worthy she-wolf to be Luna. I need to stay calm and wait until he leaves, then I need to get the hell out of here. If my parents, or Heather find out. OH MAN! If Tiffany finds out, she will kill me. I need him to leave so I can get out of here. I try to remain calm and tune back in to hear what else he has to say.

“My sweet little mate. I need you to get better so that I can help you. I promise you that I will never let those horrible people hurt you again. I have made sure my parents keep those people busy and Stephanie has done a great job so far. But I can’t help but feel responsible for what has happened to you now. If only… I kept a closer eye on her, she never would have done this to you. I’m so sorry my little mate. I promise to make it up to you. I will spend forever trying to get you to forgive me for this happening to you.”

What is he talking about now? What does he mean he feels responsible? What happened to me. I wish someone would just tell me what happened.

Before I can listen to anything else Max says I am pulled into the darkness I was in before and I start to hear a voice that I heard before and I don’t feel worried or scared. But I can’t help but feel tired. So, I let myself fall into the darkness listening to everything the voice tells me. The last thing I remember is feeling something warm touching the top of my hand and a second voice telling me sweet dreams.
