Chapter 73: Book Two- Her Alpha Savior- Chapter Twenty-Five

Chapter Twenty-Five

Josephine

I come around again, and I hear more voices, but they are louder and more recognizable this time, The voices I hear sound mad, and I take a deep breath or what I think is a deep breath, I’m not sure exactly what I am doing right now, I can’t move my arms or legs and I am having a hard time opening my eyes. I try to calm myself down so I can focus on the voices again.

“What do you mean, she was attacked? Who attacked her?”

That voice sounds familiar but the way they said ‘her’ was like I am not worth the time or effort to go through so called being attacked. Wait a minute, what do they mean ‘attacked’ who was attacked, they couldn’t be talking about me.

After I hear everything, they are talking about I try to stay calm, but I need to wake up, I need to open my eyes. When I am finally able to open my eyes and I have to shut them again because of the bright lights.

I let a groan come out and all the voices stop, and I then try to open my eyes again and this time I manage to keep them open, and I look around and I see my parents and I see Sarah, and I see heather. I begin to feel a bit scared because I look around and I see that I am in a hospital room and I see my parents and Heather and I can tell by the looks on their faces that they are not happy to be here, I know I am going to be getting for punished for this later. Then I look over to a woman who I notice is checking the iv’s in my arm and looking back and forth between a screen and me.

“You need to calm down dear; your heart monitor is going haywire. I need you to stay calm.”

I give her a nod and I close my eyes for a moment to try and calm myself and when the beeping slows down, I open them again, but when I see the one person, I wasn’t expecting to be here I can’t help but feel calmer than I was a moment ago. I look away for a moment to the nurse checking me over and I have to know what is going on. Before I get a chance to say anything she opens her mouth to ask me something I may not know the answer to.

“Can you tell me what you remember dear?”

I pause for a moment to think back to the last thing I remember.

“I remember being at school with Sarah and when I went home after school, I did my usual chores and went to rest then I woke up and went back to school for something, but I can’t really remember why I did that.”

I look to Sarah for help, but she just gives me a warm smile and I know she knows just by the way she is looking at me, but why won’t she help me remember.

“That’s okay dear. It will come back to you when you are ready. How are you feeling? Does anything hurt?”

“I feel okay, I just have a headache…”

I try to reach up to touch my head to show the nurse exactly where, but I can’t seem to move my hand up to my head.

“What’s the matter dear?”

“I…I can’t move my hand.”

“Are you sure dear?”

“YES! I’m sure! If I could move my hand, I would!”

Crap, I didn’t mean to yell at her. I just can’t move my hand and now I can’t move my toes either. What is wrong with me?

“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to yell at you, I just…I. What is wrong with me? Why can’t I move my hands or toes?"

"You can’t move your toes either sweetie?"

I shake my head from side to side to show her I can’t move them, and when I do I feel a wave of dizziness come over me and I have to close my eyes to let it pass so I don’t throw up all over myself and embarrass myself even more in front of the future alpha.

“It’s okay dear, don’t worry we will figure out what is wrong. I’m sure your wolf is just trying to heal you more so she is keeping you from moving around too much, but don’t worry I will let the doctor know and we will figure it out. Don’t worry. I will let him know right away and I will come back in a while to check on you. Get some rest honey.”

Then she turns to leave the room but before she gets all the way out my mother has a question; she feels the need to ask.

“What do you mean her wolf? She has no wolf.”

When the nurse turns to answer her, she rolls her eyes at my mother.

“I’m not sure exactly, the doctor will be in soon to answer any questions you may have.”

And then she turns to leave the room and I’m wishing she would have stayed to make sure my parents don’t do anything. I know they won’t do much in front of Max, but the way they are looking at me I know I may get a few choice words at the most. For now. But the nurse is gone again.

When I meet her eyes, she looks at me with such hate and shame that I can’t look away fast enough. When I hear a growl come forth, I look around to see who it came from and I feel my face heat up and the thought that he could be defending my honor, but I must be crazy to believe that. I am a worthless she-wolf, nobody will ever want me.

I keep my eyes down because I know I am nothing worthy of anyone and I will never have a mate to call my own.

“You are not even worthy of the energy to beat up on. I know you did this to yourself. Or the very least you had someone help you do this just to get the attention of the Alpha. You have always been an attention seeking misfit.”

My mother may be right about me being a misfit, but I would never do this to myself.

“You watch your tongue, Tanya; you will not speak to your Lu- daughter that way.”

What was he about to just say? It sounded like he was going to call me Luna, but that is crazy, I can’t be a Luna, I’m not worthy to be Luna. I need to get out of here, this is going to cause me more problems with my parents. Especially since Max is showing me attention that they think should be directed elsewhere.

“I’m sorry Alpha, I meant no disrespect, but I am only trying to understand why the nurse says this, because Josephine has no wolf, she hasn’t had a wolf in two years. Why now would her wolf come forth.”

“That is not for us to wonder, the Moon Goddess has a plan for us, and we do not question why she chooses to do things the way she does.”

When I look up to see what my mother does, she looks down and tries to bow her head in respect to Max and I can’t help the small smile that crosses my lips at this, my mother always tries to be so tough and its quite funny to see how quickly she loses her nerve to Max.

“What are you smiling at you worthless piece of garbage?”

Heather marches over to me and wraps her hands around my neck trying to choke me, but she doesn’t have a grip on me for long before Max rushes over and grabs her by the neck and holds her against the wall. I hear a growl come from deep in his chest and I feel the blush come over my cheeks at him defending me in such a way, but I scold myself for thinking such a thing, he is only doing it because I am a regular pack member, he doesn’t tolerate violence of any kind towards any pack member. We are taught to treat each other with the same respect, and we are taught that bullying is not okay, no matter what rank you are.
