Chapter 10: I Met Him Again
Yvonne
I entered the house but I was very quiet. Where are they? I was about to go upstairs to my room to check on my son when I saw Samuel coming downstairs.
"Where is Ryan?" I asked softly.
"He is asleep, he got tired of swimming." He smiled but then furrowed his eyebrows and came towards me when he noticed my expression.
"Did something happen?" I looked at his worried expression and my tears automatically rolled down my cheeks like an unstoppable tsunami. The pent-up emotions for the past eight years and fear of losing my son came crashing down at me.
"Gosh, Yvonne you are scaring me. What happened?" He cupped my face, wiping my tears.
I hugged him and sobbed, I cried for my past self, I cried for the days I kept waiting for my husband to come home. I cried for the nights I spent alone shaking in fear, I cried for my past self who kept waiting for someone who never came. I cried for the days when I saw Ryan sadly staring at complete happy families but putting a smile while looking at me. I cried for those few good days that I spent with the only man I loved and I cried for losing the love of my life who never loved me back.
Samuel hugged me tightly and kept kissing the top of my head while stroking my back.
"It is okay, I am here now. It is okay.
"I…I m..met him, I saw him today, Samuel. He won't take Ryan away from me, right? He must be married and has children now but I only have Ryan. I don't want to lose my son, he is everything I have. I would die without him." I barely spoke between hiccups and sobs, I felt him stiffened before he made me look at him.
"Hey, hey look at me. I won't let him take Ryan away from you, okay? No one can take him away from you, I promise you that." I looked at him with a blank expression.
"I promise you, trust me okay" he reassured me again and again until I nodded, calming down a little. He made me sit on the couch before bringing water for me.
"Thank you," I took a few sips of water and he sat beside me.
"Are you feeling better now?" He stroked my hair gently, I nodded and looked at him.
He seemed really worried and I felt sorry for making him worry. This is the first time I have cried like this in front of someone.
"I am sorry, I made you worry." I said softly.
"Worry my ass, you scared the shit out of me. You were crying so hard, I nearly pissed my pants thinking I can't do anything to make you stop." He replied dramatically.
I laughed and slapped his arms, he chuckled and stroked my head.
"You finally smiled."
"How can I not when I have a joker friend?" I mocked him jokingly.
"Although I don't like that joker word,I will still take that as a compliment." He wiggled his eyebrows, making me laugh again, he turned serious after a while before asking.
"Would you tell uncle about this?" He asked, referring to my father.
"No, no, I don't want to make him worry. He has a blood pressure problem and if he knows about this, I am sure he is going to stress himself out. Please promise me that you won't tell him, I want to handle this on my own." I assured him and he thought for a while before nodding his head.
"But on one condition, you won't keep anything from me and especially you won't stop me this time. Uncle and I didn't do anything to him back then because you begged us not to and we kept your decision as our priority but this time we can't do that. I can't let him hurt you again and again and keep quiet about it. Your parents entrusted your safety to me and I won't ever let them down." He said seriously.
"Okay, I promise." I smiled at him and his expression eased.
"By the way, I have something to tell you." His face brightened as he said those words.
"Really? What is that?" I asked curiously.
"I found her," I looked at him confused for a few seconds before my eyes widened in excitement and surprised before I hugged him.
"Really, you found Chichi? Where is she? Here in Australia? I want to meet her, when can we meet?" I bombarded him with questions and he chuckled.
"Calm down, Yvonne dear. She is not here but I know where she is at least. You can meet her later when you go back home. He responded.
Chichi was my best friend and Samuel's childhood sweetheart. We all grew up together until high school when she suddenly moved out of the country without saying anything. Samuel and I were so hurt that she didn't contact us to inform us where she went but we understand. Her life was not easy to start with, we tried to find her but it was to no avail.
"So are you going to get her then?" I asked.
"We will see," he muttered.
Seriously? I wanted to say something more when I saw Ryan coming down the stairs. I opened my arms and he immediately wrapped his small hands around me.
"Are you okay, mother?" Did you cry?" He asked worriedly.
"I am okay, my prince. I just talked to your grandparents so I cried because I miss them." He nodded to my lies.
"I miss them too, mother." He pouted and I ruffled his hair.
"Then we can talk to them tomorrow again, okay?" He nodded obediently.
The rest of the day went by quickly, Samuel stayed for the night because he was worried about us. He seemed restless since I told him about my encounter with Nathan.
Samuel and I are not just best of friends but we are also like brother and sister. He was like a brother I never had and same goes for him. There is nothing we don't know about each other, oftentimes people mistook us for a couple but we never explained because it didn't matter until he fell in love with my best friend, Chichi. I was the happiest when I found out about his crush on her, the thought of my two best friends becoming a couple was too exciting and I was their biggest shipper. I really hope they will settle their differences and find their way to each other's hearts again, I really need to send him to get her.
It is high time he starts thinking about himself, has a family of his own and stops worrying sick about me and my son. I am no longer weak like I used to be in the past, I can protect myself and my son, including that cheater coming into view now after so many eyes.
I am the only child and the heiress to the Beckett Group of industries, I can handle myself and face any difficulty by myself now.
