Chapter 772: Marc's Setback

When Kimberly saw Howard, she was momentarily stunned. Then she reached out and ruffled his hair with one hand. "What are you doing here? I'm fine."

Lexine sighed and scolded, "He overheard me talking to Mrs. Watson at home and insisted on coming. Looks like Mrs. Watson couldn't keep an eye on him."

Hearing this, Kimberly felt both touched and amused. Her eyes stung with unshed tears. "Thank you, Howard."

Howard turned his gaze to the group outside and shouted fiercely, "You bunch of jerks! I always knew you were no good when you came to my house, eating, drinking, and making a mess. Now you're bullying my favorite Ms. Sanchez! You're all just a bunch of bullies!"

As he spoke, Howard pulled two raw eggs from his pajama pockets and threw them at Austin and Marc, hitting their legs perfectly.

The eggs exploded on their pants, leaving both men stunned. Marc, especially, was furious. "You're just a kid, and you're already this bad! No wonder the Watson Family can't raise decent people!"

"You're just a bastard! What right do you have to talk to me like that? You think I don't know what a bastard is? What do you mean, your brother? That's my uncle, not your brother! Great-grandma hates you, and so do I. Don't come to my house anymore!" Howard's words hit Marc's sore spots like a machine gun.

Even a thug would hesitate to hit a child, but Marc was genuinely tempted to beat Howard up.

He stepped forward, reaching through the railing to grab Howard, but Lexine quickly blocked him. She pointed at Marc and scolded, "What do you think you're doing? Trying to bring your bad behavior into the Watson Family? You have some nerve! You're going to hit a child? Are you even human?"

Marc's face turned livid with rage. "Let me tell you, even if I'm a bastard, I'm still my brother's half-brother! We share blood! By that logic, I'm part of the Watson Family too!"

Laughter rippled through the crowd, like poison seeping into Marc's pride.

Although Austin and his group had been hanging out with Marc recently, they only respected him because of Vincent. In their eyes, Marc was still an illegitimate child, and Olivia had no real power in either the Murray or Watson families. She only had Vincent's occasional support, and without it, she'd be cast out of the business world.

The same went for Marc. Everyone knew he'd be abandoned sooner or later, though they didn't understand why Vincent was helping him now.

Howard put his hands on his hips. "You're a grown man, and you don't even have as much sense as I do? You're not Uncle Vincent's father's son; you're Olivia's son with another man. How can you claim to be part of the Watson Family? That's ridiculous. Did you even go to college? Your IQ is lower than mine, and I'm just in elementary school."

Kimberly couldn't help but chuckle. She hadn't realized Howard could be so sharp-tongued.

At that moment, the door of the Bentley behind them finally opened, and Vincent stepped out, surveying the scene like a king. His gaze settled on Laura's so-called friends.

Seeing Vincent, Marc's eyes lit up as if he'd seen his savior. He hurriedly complained, "Vincent, did you hear what they said? They look down on me!"

Austin chimed in, "Yeah, isn't this just mockery? Even if Marc isn't related to the Watson Family by blood, so what? Mr. Watson, you're the future head of the Watson Family. As long as he's your half-brother, that's enough. Look at Howard and Lexine, they don't know their place."

Vincent's expression was unreadable, like a mask, making it impossible to discern his true thoughts.

Everyone waited for Vincent to speak.

Lexine turned to Vincent and said, "Mr. Watson, you saw what happened. Laura's friends tried to bully Ms. Sanchez, chasing her around and saying all sorts of vile things. I'll check the security footage later, and everything will be clear."

Vincent glanced at Austin and his group, then at Marc.

Marc, not understanding Vincent's intentions, continued to complain, "Vincent, these people are bullying me, saying I have no blood relation to the Watson Family. But I do have a blood relation with you! They even said your grandmother ordered that I can't come to the Watson Mansion unless you bring me."

Marc expected Vincent to defend him, but Vincent said, "That's right. The Watson Mansion is my grandmother's domain. You're not part of the Watson Family, so I have to bring you in. Otherwise, you can't come in. My grandmother is right."

Marc's mind reeled as if struck by lightning. His eyes widened in shock. "Vincent, what did you say?"

"I said, isn't it clear? This is my grandmother's domain. Marc, if you're going to act out, this isn't the place. If you don't respect my grandmother, how can you respect me?"

Vincent's words left Marc speechless. His face turned ashen, but he didn't dare challenge Vincent.

Kimberly felt a pang of pity for Marc. He was born innocent but had never been treated well by the Murray Family. Even Olivia used him as a tool to gain wealth and respect. Lacking familial love, Marc desperately sought it from Vincent.

This was Marc's tragic flaw.

Austin, still focused on Kimberly, looked around for Laura. Not seeing her, he asked, "Mr. Watson, where's Laura? Why didn't she come with you?"

"This is the Watson Family's domain. Some matters don't require her involvement," Vincent replied, his face expressionless.

For some reason, Kimberly felt Vincent had deliberately kept Laura out of this.

Was she overthinking it?
