Chapter 71
Chapter 71
Matt's little wildcat must have been truly exhausted.
So much so that while Matt was bathing her, she fell asleep right there in the bathtub.
After washing Susie clean and lifting her out of the tub, Matt gently wrapped her in a towel to dry her off, then laid her on the soft bed.
Susie rolled over, draping one leg lightly across Matt's body.
In her sleep, Susie made a couple of soft sounds and even smacked her lips.
"Are you dreaming about eating something delicious?" Matt reached out and gently stroked Susie's nose.
Probably feeling a bit ticklish, Susie wrinkled her brow and randomly brushed her hand across her face.
The next morning, Susie even slept until ten o'clock.
When she saw the time displayed on her phone, Susie scrambled out of bed in a panic.
"You're awake?"
Matt had already made coffee for Susie.
Looking at Matt, who was watching her with a smile, Susie frowned slightly. "Why didn't you wake me up? The alarm didn't go off either, and I'm almost late for my appointment with a client."
Hearing Susie's complaint, Matt was straightforward. "I wanted to let you sleep a bit longer, so I turned off your phone alarm."
"Oh God, I think you must be messing with me on purpose," Susie said through gritted teeth.
"At least have a cup of coffee first to wake yourself up. I've already had Sim start the car downstairs," Matt reassured Susie.
"Sim's driving skills are the best. Trust me, he'll definitely get you there on time," Matt comforted Susie.
"Forgive me for not being able to trust you again."
Susie took Matt's coffee, casually tasted it, and said dismissively, "Not bad, but I think I really need to get downstairs now."
Looking at the coffee in his hand, Matt's expression showed some disappointment.
Still, he quietly grabbed a coat and went downstairs with Susie.
"Miss Susie, getting up so late today, didn't sleep well last night?" Gian looked at Susie with a mischievous smile.
Then his gaze couldn't help but fall on Matt, asking knowingly, "So, Matt, did you sleep well last night?"
"Quiet down. I don't think now is the time for jokes. I've already missed my appointment time with the client," Susie shouted at Gian.
She even raised her fist threateningly to make Gian shut up.
"Okay, okay, I'll keep quiet."
Gian had experienced Susie's punches before and knew her strength was not to be underestimated.
The car sped along the road, and Susie pulled out her phone, planning to call the client first.
"Looks like this client must be pretty important to you."
Seeing how nervous Susie was about meeting the client on time, Matt's face darkened.
He seemed to be jealous.
"So, what's the client's name?"
Matt just wanted to figure out the client's gender through their name.
"Sam," Susie said slowly.
"What an ugly name," Matt said.
He remembered this name—one of Susie's regular customers.
It seemed like every time Sam came to see Susie, they would chat in the shop for a long time.
"You've never even met Sam, yet you're attacking his name. I think that's pretty rude," Susie reminded him.
"So, my little wildcat, are you taking that outsider's side?" Matt asked.
"Sorry, I need to go to work."
The car slowly stopped in front of the shop. Susie jumped out and saw Sam waiting at the door with two senior classmates.
"Sorry, I'm late. That's on me," Susie apologized.
"I think your tardiness today wouldn't have anything to do with that guy in the car, would it?" the senior asked Susie.
Of course, this little wildcat could take a joke.
She quickly shot back calmly, "So, which one are you talking about, senior?"
"You really are something," Maddie said, lightly tapping Susie's forehead.
"Alright, the shop is yours now. You know I have a date," Maddie said with a smile.
"Oh, looks like your schedule is pretty packed lately," Susie said to Maddie with a laugh.
"Thanks for the good wishes. After all, I'm also in a hurry to get myself married off," Maddie joked.
Watching Maddie leave, only Susie and Sam remained in the shop.
The atmosphere became strangely awkward.
To ease the tension, Susie started a conversation.
"Actually, this motorcycle doesn't need to be serviced this often," Susie said to Sam.
"If Miss Susie would agree to meet me privately, I think I probably wouldn't need to service the bike so often," Sam said with a smile.
Not far away, Gian was watching the situation in the shop with binoculars.
"Boss, if I'm not mistaken, that man in the shop seems to be trying to hit on Miss Susie," Gian said loudly.
He had learned lip-reading before, so even from far away, he could understand what the man was saying.
"Are you sure?" Sure enough, Matt's face visibly darkened.
"I think that guy at the repair shop is in trouble today," Nick said helplessly to Mark beside him.
Mark nodded. "I think you're right."
Opening the car door, Matt prepared to get out, but was stopped by Sim. "Matt, if you just go over there like this, wouldn't that be beneath your status?"
"I think at this moment I can't worry about my status," Matt said to Sim.
"At least wear a hat. That way, other people won't recognize you."
"Fine," Matt accepted Sim's suggestion and jumped out of the car.
In the motorcycle shop, Sam was still chatting with Susie, occasionally throwing in some cheesy pickup lines to flirt with her.
Susie seemed to have all her attention on the motorcycle in front of her, only occasionally giving the man a few perfunctory responses.
"My little wildcat, I think it would break my heart if you didn't eat breakfast, so I specially brought you some," Matt said, placing a sandwich and a cup of coffee on the workbench.
Susie looked up and saw Matt wearing a hat, slightly stunned.
"Oh God, why are you dressed like this today?" Susie stared at Matt in shock.
In her memory, he had never worn a hat before.
"Let's call it a little spice between husband and wife. This way keeps things fresh between us, right? My little wildcat."
