Chapter 180 Rise
Chapter 180 Rise
Samantha's Point Of view
Right after Nicholas parked the car, another car drove through the mansion. I suspected it was Cassandra but I wasn't sure yet. My suspicions were confirmed when the door was pushed open and she stepped out of the car and stormed towards us.
“Don't interfere..” I whispered to Nicholas who was ready to make his say towards her.
“Samantha—”
I cut him off. “I can fight my own battles.” I snapped. I didn't want to sound rude but this was my fight and I want to fight it alone. I didn't need his help.
She exhaled deeply as he lifted his hand in surrender. I shifted my attention to Cassandra.
“What the fuck did you do?” She panted, her breath heavy.
I crossed my arms over my chest, posture straight. “Are you feeling the heat?” My voice was calm—too calm given how angry she was.
Cassandra let out an angry chuckle as she shook her head. “You–”She shook her head as she pointed her finger at me. “How dare you—do you have an idea of what you did?”
She stood before me, giving me a full view of her face–flushing red.
I shrugged.. “I didn't do anything.” I muttered. “You started everything and I just finished it. I don't understand why you are so worked up..”
“You—” She lunged at me, her hand raised to slap me but I swiftly grabbed it before it could reach my face. My grip was tight as I lowered her hand down. Her whole being trembled as she glared at me..
“Don't try it..” I released her hand and took a step back. “Get out of here before I call the security.”
“You've messed with the wrong person Samantha Ross.” Her cold voice sliced through the tensed air. “I will make sure you regret it.”
I scoffed as I stared at her for a few seconds. Trying to understand where she got the audacity to threaten me. “Bring it on.” a smirk tugged the corner of my lips. I didn't have anything to lose. I was ready to face her. I didn't give her a chance to utter a word as I walked towards Nicholas. I interviewed our hands together before we made our way inside the house leaving her outside.
“Are you okay?” Nicholas’s voice was soft as he asked.
“Umm.. I'm okay.” I lied. “I just need some sleep to recharge. I'm exhausted.”
“Samantha—” Nicholas stopped walking, still holding my hand but I didn't want to hear anything right now.
“I really don't want to talk right now.” I tried to sound as nice as I could. “I'm really tired.”
Nicholas nodded. “I understand.” He broke eye contact. “You can go to sleep. I have some work to study.”
“Good night.” I removed my hand from his and started making my way upstairs without giving him a chance to utter a word.
As I walked through the hallway, making my way to our room, the door to Sam’s room flung opened and he stepped out..
I let out a deep breath. I wasn't in the mood to deal with him and by the way he stared at me, he seemed to be wanting to talk to me.
I put on a straight face, ready to walk past him but of course he wouldn't let me. “Are you okay?” His voice was low.
“I'm fine.” I averted my gaze from his.
“I'm here if you need someone to talk to.” He walked towards me but I took a step back. I didn't want him to cross the line with me–i can't have that. I loved Nicholas and that was that.
His brows wrinkled as he stared at the space between us. He parted his lips to speak but he seemed to have decided against it. “Good night.”
“Umm.. Good night.” I forced myself to swallow the lump in my throat. I was pushing everyone away because I wanted to deal with this alone—I got so used to dealing with my own pain that it was hard to open up to someone without feeling like a burden—especially to Nicholas.
Before I could take a step forward, Sam stopped me again.. “Samantha..” I didn't like how soft his voice was becoming.
“What..” I asked curly.
“You are not alone in this.” He muttered calmly.. “You don't have to face it alone. I might be no one to you but to me you are everything and I will always be there for you.”
I wanted to force a smile but my lips wouldn't move causing me to just nod. “I appreciate it… Good night.”
This time I didn't wait for him to utter another word before I made my way to my room. I was fully aware that people change but his change was too sudden and too true to be real—I still remember when he used to pretend to me mentally unstable but now he was becoming someone I couldn't recognize and I hate the questions that are rising in my mind… I had to force myself to remember that I love Nicholas and that was it.
As I reached the room, I pushed the door open and started in Noah's room. My boy was sleeping soundly, his chest was rising and falling in a smooth rhythm. Just the sight of him, it felt as though a huge rock was lifted off my shoulders. On the edge of the bed and stroked his hair gently.
Cassandra made me lose my job and my source of income—and now I won't be able to provide my son with everything he needs.. That was so wrong of her and I need to make sure she regrets it for the rest of her life. My son can't have a poor mother because of Cassandra. I am not becoming that helpless Samantha ever again.. I will rise again and I will make sure I defeat her in her own game. This was my story and only I decide who stays and who leaves.
