Chapter 58: Incoming clash
**Oliver's POV**
I got back into the car with just one bodyguard after leaving with two bodyguards this morning. I had to tell the others to go get my car fixed immediately, I can’t be seen driving a cracked car on the road that would be a shame to my name.
We got to the small town and I was just feeding my eyes with the environment of the people, indeed it was really a small town and the conditions of the people weren’t appealing at all. I got to the supposed place where I was to have my discussion with the head of the town.
He was an old man living in a small portable house, but he had little or no furniture.
“Hello, Mr. Brentwood.” he greeted in his old man's voice
“Hello, sir.”
“Please have a seat.”
I took a quick look at the supposed ‘seat’ he pointed at and I knew I was definitely not sitting there.
“Um, sir? How about we talk in my car?”
“Okay, sure”
We took a short walk to my car, but though this man was old, he was very agile in his steps, unlike some people his age, which left me impressed.
“Wow, Mr. Brentwood you really have a nice car.”
“Thanks. So, sir. I'm guessing you already know my reason for coming here?”
“Yes, I do, I was told. And I'm really honored to sit beside the most powerful man in North Hill.” without even saying, the excitement on his face alone tells me that already.
“Okay then, without wasting much time, what do you think your people need the most?”
“Um, sir, actually we need a lot of things.…”
“I'm not here for you to preach to me the whole chapters of what your people need, I just need the most important ones. And the ones that's going to generate for me, lots of money. ” I said sternly
“Oh, okay, sir. Well, I think a good hospital with quality doctors in it, would be very nice, and also a good restaurant or cafè would also be nice.”
“Hmm, I think I’d work with these two ideas, I’d make the doctors available, but the hospital would be free of charge. Your people won't have to pay for their treatments, because I know how it feels to have a loved one who is sick.”
I said with a sad expression on my face, dealing with my mom’s condition over the years made me make this decision. It would be cruel for me to make them pay for getting treatments. So this was my decision.
“It's Okay, I understand how you feel.”
“As for the restaurant, I’d also make that available, but that wouldn't be free, I’d bring in professional caterers from the city to give exquisite services.”
“Okay, that’s fair. I'd really appreciate that, sir. Thank you so much sir, and thank you for visiting my small town today.”
“It's okay, so how about we go take a look at the perfect spot where I could build this so that the work can begin immediately?”
“That wouldn't be a problem, we can go right now if you want.”
“Okay then, let's go. Driver? Please take us to wherever he says.”
“Okay, boss.”
We took off from there and took a tour around the town, my car was tinted so people wouldn't recognize me. Sometimes when they see me they disappear into thin air because the mention of my name, or my presence has instilled fear in their hearts. I know it's not their fault, I was never like this.
Valerie being in my life made me so soft that I started hating being treated that way, before now I always enjoyed the show, but suddenly I began to change. That's more reason I never wanted to get attached to her. I also noticed that the old man wasn't even too comfortable sitting next to me, excitement and anxiety could be seen in his face.
His hands were shaking for no reason and his legs were crossed tightly, then I began to think to myself. Am I this bad? I know I've done some terrible things to some people, but I'm not all bad, why are they this scared?
I was so touched looking at a man old enough to be my father full of anxiety and trying so hard to make it hidden. It was like a father who was scared of his son.
We got to our destination and I could see that they had a good landmass that was able to accommodate the project. We saw two different sites the hospital was a little bit far from where I had in mind to build the restaurant but it was okay. I guess hospitals and restaurants aren't supposed to be so close after all.
Soon I was done with him, so I dropped him off and headed back home.
******** Adina’s POV *******
We got home and Ma’am Savannah and I were in the kitchen preparing lunch. So I thought this would be a great time to bring up the issue of owning a restaurant.
“Ma’am?”
“Yes, dear?”
“You know it's just been a few weeks since you took me in.”
“Yes, dear and you’ve really dealt with me for those few weeks.”
We both shared a laugh when she said that.
“I'm really sorry Ma’am”
“It's okay, my child, I can do anything just to make sure those babies come out strong and safe.”
I felt so warmed by her words. She’s my guardian angel in the form of a sweet woman.
“Thanks so much, ma’am, but um… I have a small request from you.”
“And what could that be?”
“Um, I'm not someone that likes being idle, so I’d like to open a little something for myself. You know I mentioned to you that I had worked in a restaurant before right?”
“Right?”
“So I was thinking what if I make one available here, I noticed there's barely any infrastructure more here.”
“That would be great. But you're pregnant, don't you think that would be too much for you?”
“What? Not at all, Ma’am, I think it would be a form of exercise for me, and my babies.”
“But…!”
“There's no need for any buts right now, ma’am Savannah, I just really need you to take me to the appropriate authority so I can make the necessary payments and start construction.”
“Oh…. Okay then. We'd go after lunch.”
“That would be great.”
After making lunch I quickly ate and rushed to get dressed I was so eager to finally have something in my name. Soon Ma’am Savannah was done also, so we took a cab to a certain old man known to be the oldest in the town and the one in charge of anything or any investment coming into the town.
We went in and told him our reason for coming. He was reluctant at first because according to him someone had already acquired a large portion of the available land for the same cause. So I told him not to worry that I really didn't need a very large portion, I could work with anything available.
He later agreed after much persuasion, so we all went to the site, and I made all the necessary payments and left so excited.
Though the thoughts of the anonymous buyer crossed my mind, but I didn't think much about it. I just know for sure that mine would be ten times better than him or her. And my meals would be exquisite
