Chapter 240: CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND FORTY : HUMILIATING

I had no idea I was crying till a lone tear fell on the note in my hands.

Then, a soft laugh slipped out of my lips.

I must be mad for crying for the piece of paper he sent.

What did he think this would do?

It did nothing but reopen old wounds!

Rage filled me, and I held the paper right before my eyes, picking up the envelope alongside.

The loud sound of the paper tearing into two echoed loudly in the silent room.

I tore it into two, then into four, then into eight, till it was nothing but little crumbs of papers that could never be put together again.

The room was filled with nothing but the sound of my heavy breathing.

The words I read on that paper refused to leave my head and it annoyed me.

He was seeking forgiveness!

Forgiveness!

Was he even worthy to utter those words, let alone ask for something as big as that.

Everything I suffered was little compared to my babies.

I lost two of my children because of him.

Two, not one.

If only he had believed me just once like I always begged him to, then Jennifer would have never had the upper hand in our relationship.

I fought every single day just to stay by his side while he did nothing for me.

He never cared about me, not for once.

And now he wants my forgiveness.

Even in death, I’ll never forgive you, Ethan.

And Jennifer.

The same woman who had tried so hard to destroy me the very day I met her.

She was the number one thorn in my life.

Every single pain I faced was always associated with her.

And Ethan, he got her arrested so easily.

I could have done that too, but I wanted to make her suffer before I did that.

But now, she was behind bars.

Did Ethan think he was doing me any good by doing this?

Another tear slid down my cheeks and I wiped it away.

Maybe it was better this way.

After all, I was moving on with my life with Killian and my children by my side at the end of this month.

It was good to know that Jennifer would never be a problem for me.

And as for Natasha.

She hates my guts for reasons I do not know to date.

And she completely disappeared after I put Vivian in prison.

So how did Ethan get a hold of her.

Well, I don’t care.

From this day onward, I have no reason to associate myself with my past life anymore now that all my problems are gone.

But I have to do something first.

Picking up my phone, I typed a message to the secretary along with the video I’d kept with me for five years now.

The same one of the accident.

My mind flashed back to that night Killian had rescued me from the accident.

He had come to me with the evidence begging me to lay a complaint on them that he had gotten the CCTV footage.

But I had wanted a fresh start.

I had just lost my child all over again, and the pain was unbearable.

I did not care about not getting my baby Justice at that time.

All I cared about was my other two children’s survival.

I had to protect them.

There was nothing left for me in this city again.

Everything was destroyed, and I wanted to disappear alongside it.

But I couldn’t, not with my children in my stomach.

I had begged Killian not to lay a complaint because I felt it was useless.

I did not want them to know I was still alive.

So I begged him to take me far away from there.

And he did.

He gave me a new life.

He even went as far as helping me delete the clip of where he rescued me from the car from the CCTV.

The memories felt overwhelming, and I took calm breaths to stabilize myself.

My hands tapped on the video as I played it.

The two figures in the video were as clear as day as they stood over my destroyed car.

Even their voices could be heard clearly.

And Jennifer’s name leaving her lips could not be denied.

This should be enough to keep Jennifer away from me forever.

“Submit it to the police anonymously.”

And the moment I saw her reply I turned off my phone.

But why did l still not feel the peace I wanted even after all these?

‘It was a good thing that I was moving on with Killian.’ I said to myself.

The next day, I walked into my office to see a single rose on my desk with a small note beneath.

My eyes flashed with rage as I turned to face my assistant in anger.

“Who sent this?” I growled, already knowing the answer.

“Mr Blackwood did, young madam,” she answered, and I took a deep breath, counting to ten in my head to calm myself.

What was Ethan playing at!

I left the rose and the note idle on my desk the whole day, doing everything I could not to pick it up and trash it.

But then, I could barely get any work done so I finally succumbed into my temptation, as I picked it up.

Unfolding the note, my eyes read through the words.

“I’m sorry for sending you sixteen thousand flowers yesterday.

My secretary told me it was too much when I told her about it today.

So I decided to send only a single rose this time.

But then, I hope it’s not too small this time.

I’ve never been perfect at doing things.

You never sent me the names of your enemies yesterday.

Not that I expected you to, seeing that you blocked me on your phone.”

“My dearest Leah,

I’m so sorry for having sex with you that night only to disappear after leaving a bundle of money on the bed the next day.

I treated you like a hooker, and it was very wrong for me.

I’m so sorry, Leah.”
