Chapter 45: Be Mine

The next morning, Alexa helped Norman park his stuff at the hotel, and they decided to have breakfast before he took his flight.

“Thanks for everything, Alexa,” the kid appreciated. He felt bad that they would be separating, but he didn’t want to show it.

“Don’t forget me, okay?” Alexa smiled at the kid, then she saw Mr. Williams being wheeled to the restaurant by Caleb.

“Uhm, I will get your suitcase downstairs. I am sure the driver will be here soon.” She didn’t know why she was nervous, but she didn’t want to see Mr. Williams.

She fled immediately, and Hance frowned before Caleb pushed him to Norman’s table, and he left. “Thank you for honoring my request of having a last meal before I leave,” the kid smiled. He had sent him an email but didn’t think he would read it or even take it seriously.

"Hmm,” he nodded.

“So what business questions do you have for me now? I need to leave soon.”

Norman shook his head in denial. “I don’t want to ask you any business-related questions.”

Hance raised a brow, confused. “So you want to waste my time, huh?”

“No, not that. Well, maybe.” He walked and stood beside Hance and said, “Alexa is going through a lot; I can't help her because I am still a kid. But can you do me a favor and help her? I will make sure to refund you once I become rich.”

Hance chuckled “So you called me here for that? Well, tell me what she is going through, and I will decide whether to help you or not.”

“Promise not to tell anyone about this; don’t let her know that I snitched.”

Then he leaned closer and whispered some words to Hance. He clenched his fist and then released it.

It’s like he was feeling two emotions at once and couldn’t tell which one overcame the other.

“Is that so?”

Norman nodded before Alexa hurried to them. “The car is here; let’s go.” She quickly grabbed Norman’s hand and dragged him out of there.

“Why are you running away from him?” Norman questioned her as they stood in front to wait for the car, which had not yet arrived.

“Me? Run away from him.” She snorted, “Never, I am bigger than that.”

“Of course you are.”

Then the car drove towards them, and the driver took the suitcases. "Crouch, please,” he said, and Alexa crouched to his level.

He hugged her tightly. “Thanks for being a good employee; you are my first potential employee, and I won't forget about you.”

“I thought we were more than that,” Alexa said jokingly.

The kid broke the hug took out an envelope from his bag and handed it to her. “My parents had told the manager to give this to you, but you rejected it, so I am giving it to you now as my way of apologizing for what you will discover soon.”

“What did you do?” She had a suspicious look. The kid took her hand and placed the envelope before he got into the car and waved at her.

“Goodbye Alexa”

She waved at him and took a look at the envelope. She took a sneak peek inside, and it was money. “Well, I can't reject money twice.” She kept it in her bag and decided to go shopping before going back home to rest.

"Alexa,” she froze when she heard that familiar voice call her. Caleb walked to her and said, “Please come with me.”

“Why?”

“Mr. Williams is waiting for you; do you want to come?” He gave her the choice; she could choose to refuse or go.

Alexa went into deep thought—why was she suddenly nervous? She thought in frustration.

“I will tell him that you have already left." Caleb turned to leave when she stopped him.

“I will see him; where is he?”

-

Alexa was about to ring the doorbell when the door automatically opened. She breathed in before she walked in but couldn’t spot him.

“Mr. Williams?” she called, then spotted him in the mini kitchen making coffee.

“You came,” he said, taking two tasses and pouring the coffee in, then extending one to her.

“For you”

She never expected this, so she shook her head in denial. “I am fine.”

With their eyes locked together, he wheeled himself towards her, and she took a step backward.

“Do you know what it means when a man wants to have dinner with a woman?”

“Because he wants to eat?” She replied nervously, and Hance felt like hitting his head on the wall.

“My heart flutters when I am next to you. I always want to be close to you, and I get scared when you are not okay. Can you please give me an explanation for that?”

“You are the experienced one here, Mr. Williams; I am sure you will figure it out,” she said, biting her lower lip as her back hit the wall.

“I think I already did.”

“What is the reason?” She stared down nervously. She could hear her heartbeat; it felt like her heart was hitting her chest hard.

“Be mine,” he blurted. She raised her head and stared at him.

The shock was visible in her eyes; her widest shock was when he stood on a foot and leaned on the wall next to her. “Will you be mine?”

“You…” She knew he could get into the car without being lifted, but she never expected to see him stand up on a foot.

“I can’t stand for long, so reply to me now.”

She could see the sweat pores that formed on his forehead, and it could be seen that he was suffering by standing up.

“Mr. Williams…” She was about to push his wheelchair toward him, but instead, he wrapped his hand around her waist before he sat in his wheelchair with her on his thighs.

“Oh.” She tried standing up, but he didn’t let her.

“Please answer me; I am losing my mind now.”

“I don’t know what answer to give you.” She tried standing up, but he wouldn't let her.

“Two options: either say yes or say yes.”

“What?” What type of option was that?

Alexa shook her head in denial. She jogged him and stood up. “I want to leave.”

“Are you rejecting me?”
