Chapter 105: The Twist of Events 33
Soon, the ICT Head, Mr. Douglas Clarke, arrived, and the three got down to business. With the details supplied by Mike, they were able to monitor his previous communications and movements. They identified when he left Nigeria, got to South Africa and the location of the syndicates.
“What do we do, Mr. Noble?”
Jeff, who felt it was a waste of time going after them, asked.
“Get them arrested instantly.”
“You are correct.”
“I suggest that we monitor them for some time to get more people who are involved in the criminal activities.”
The ICT Head suggested.
“I agree with you.”
Now, Jeff requested that the Media Department should publish that a Nigerian was rescued from the pandemics. After thirty minutes, the publication went on air.
(A Nigerian, Mike Bruce, was rescued from the pandemic in South Africa by the Cherry Fields Oil and Gas Group.)
Meanwhile, they monitored the syndicates and discovered that they attempted to reach him at once.
At the Recreational Park in Nigeria.
Ken got off work at 4 pm and drove to this wife's restaurant and picked her. They rested for a while before they drove to the adult recreational park for their table tennis training. Nevertheless, the General Manager, the Medical Director and other regular players were there.
“Good evening, IVC and Dora.”
Naomi and Leticia, the General Manager's wife and the Medical Director's wives, greeted one after the other.
“Good evening, to you all.”
They responded cheerfully. Before Ken could greet the General Manager, his phone rang. He frowned his face before he looked at his phone and beamed. Then, Gabriel, who was watching him, inquired.
“Who is that?”
“His Excellency.”
Gabriel's face beamed too, and he waited for him to pick.
“Good evening, your Excellency.”
“Good evening, IVC, you have made our country proud again.”
“Consider it as nothing, your Excellency.”
“Thank you so much. If I may ask, when are we expecting the young man back?”
Now, Ken did not wish to say more than he ought to say, so he simply dismissed him.
“That would depend on how soon he recovers.”
“That is good. Please keep me updated.”
“I will, your Excellency.”
After the call, he got more calls, and he was distraught.
“It's like today's training will not be feasible.”
Dr. Dike, who was standing by the side, hinted.
“It must be.”
Ken declared. Then, he called on Ahmed, who was sitting on the bench, and instructed.
“Take. Unless the Chairman or Jeff calls, pick the calls and informed them that I'm busy.”
“Okay, boss.”
As he envisaged, Ahmed responded to the numerous calls, especially from the House of Representatives Members, who wished to hear from the horse’s mouth, as though they cared about the patient. Nevertheless, Senator Hassan, the man who was connected with Dora’s kidnap, called and Ahmed felt that the International Vice Chairman would wish to speak with him, and he drew his attention to it.
At the Chairman's Office in South Africa.
The news of the meeting with the Head of the Government was on air and Jeff was pleased with the area of apologies and the compensation. Not only that, the news of the administration of the vaccine was also on air and the citizens were advised to visit the closest health centers for the vaccine.
While they were monitoring the activities of the syndicates, Jeff got a call from the Honorable. He felt that he was calling in respect to the rescued Nigerian and picked.
“Hello, Honorable. How may I help you?”
“Good day, once again, Mr. Israel. His Excellency invited us for dinner tomorrow evening. Would you be disposed to honor the invitation?”
“Wow! It is my pleasure. I will be glad to honor the invitation.”
“That is good. I will let him know of that.”
“It is all right.”
Then, he turned to Val and called out.
“Mr. Noble.”
“Yes, boss.”
“Get Ralf. Find out how far he had gone with the procurement of the phones?”
“It is all right.”
At last, he discovered that the procurement manager had acquired the phones, and they headed to the clinic. Furthermore, he addressed the boys before he handed the phones over to them, and they were thrilled. Afterwards, they left for the Chairman's Lounge as though Jenifer was not in the hospital.
At Jennifer's Ward
The caregiver stepped out when she observed that Jeff was around because she believed that, as usual, he would spend a long time with her. Likewise, he returned to the ward when she saw him leave immediately.
“What!”
She screamed. Now, Jennifer looked different from her real self. Her glowing skin was dull, and her beautiful face changed to a faded one. Nevertheless, she called the attention of the doctor.
“We have to use another brand of drip for her.”
The doctor pointed out and left.
At the Government House.
Dr. Nkosi could not take his mind off the meeting with the young, difficult and repulsive CEO. Although, he made things difficult for him, but he acknowledged the fact that he was not someone to toil with. The thought of the four hundred hectares of the gold fields that he gave out as a compensation ruined his mood and he hissed.
“A four hundred hectares of gold fields gone like that. I know that there will be a protest from the youth after the lockdown.”
Then, he reasoned.
“The Young CEO is single. I can arrange for a hook-up with him and, Madeline. Having such an intelligent chap as a son-in-law will be an added advantage to my political ambition.”
To him, as a son-in-law, he would still have control over him and the gold fields won't be completely lost. When he got home, he informed his wife and daughter of his intentions, and they welcomed the idea. Nevertheless, Madeline watched the news just to see her future partner, and she admired him despite his mask.
At the Chairman's Lounge.
Jeff got home very relieved and walked to his room to have his organic tea while waiting for lunch. He was not laden with guilt again because he had apologized to Jennifer. Meanwhile, Val was busy monitoring the activities of the syndicates. Afterwards, Jeff returned to the parlor to have his lunch. Then, Val hinted.
