In the early morning light, Rosalind awoke to find herself nestled in the embrace of the sleeping man. His strong arm encircled her, and his steady breath danced across her neck, sending a shiver down her spine.
A throbbing ache between her legs served as a painful reminder of the events that unfolded the night before. As her hazy recollections dissipated, clarity washed over her.
What had she done?
She had slept with the CEO-the magnitude of her actions hit her like a ton of bricks. Rosalind's breath caught in her throat as she gingerly extricated herself from his grasp, hastily dressing herself.
Packing her belongings in a frenzy, she fled from room 1501, seeking refuge at the hotel front desk to secure another room.
As she went to settle the bill on her phone, she realized with a jolt that she hadn't been chatting with Tilda after all.
It was Ulric Walters!
A few years ago, during a middle school reunion, a classmate had created a group chat for everyone to reconnect. Rosalind distinctly recalled that Ulric had been the first to add her. However, he never uttered a word, and she had only given him a nickname.
And now this had happened!
Taking a moment to gather her thoughts in the safety of her new room, she decided to leave the middle school group chat. Renaming herself from Rosalind to Lily, she replaced her profile picture with a random image of a girl she found online.
This way, he wouldn't recognize her!
Deleting Ulric's contact would be too conspicuous. Besides, room 1501 had been booked by the company, leaving no traceable information behind.
With these precautions in place, Rosalind finally slipped under the covers and drifted off to sleep.
The next morning, her alarm roused her from slumber. Rosalind needed to accompany her manager to HanYang Enterprises for a crucial discussion on additional funding.
Their convertible bond project's net value had plummeted below the stop-loss line. The counterparty demanded additional collateral, threatening to liquidate their securities assets if it wasn't provided.
Given the urgency of the situation, their investment department had the rare opportunity to travel with the CEO on a private jet to Wuwood City for this business trip.
After freshening up, she grabbed her documents and hurried to the hotel lobby to meet her team. Tilda soon joined her, grumbling about Manager Mr. Chan's denial of responsibility for the additional collateral, "Mr. Chan insisted that Prosperity Holdings wasn't accountable. But when I checked the contract at the trust company, his name was clearly there!"
"Let's not discuss it here. He will join us soon," Rosalind said, pulling Tilda aside. However, her words trailed off as her gaze fixated on a tall figure emerging from the elevator.
It was Ulric.
He had traded last night's bathrobe for a perfectly tailored black suit. His furrowed brows and tightly pressed lips indicated a deep concentration as he listened to his secretary's report, not sparing a glance in their direction.
Ulric's aloofness was legendary in the business world. His stern and imposing countenance exuded an air of nobility and arrogance, making the atmosphere grow colder around him.
Rosalind struggled to reconcile this version of Ulric with the man who had tenderly wiped away her tears the previous night. It felt almost like a dream.
"Mr. Walters is so handsome! I would die happy if I could spend a night with him!" Tilda gushed, unaware of Rosalind's inner turmoil. "It's incredible how two people with the same last name can look so different. Hey, Rosalind, what's got you lost in thought?"
Startled by Tilda's nudge, Rosalind snapped back to reality, instinctively stepping back to avoid Ulric's proximity.
But then, to her surprise, Ulric and his entourage halted near them at the entrance!
He briefly glanced downward before instructing his secretary in a hushed tone, "Find out who stayed in room 1501 last night."
The mention of those numbers sent a jolt through Rosalind's body, rendering her legs heavy and immobile.
All she could hear was Tilda's excited interruption-
"1501? Mr. Walters, Rosalind stayed in room 1501 last night!"
