Chapter 44: Leaked Photos

Jaxon's POV:

“Mr. Fallon, can you tell us why you were out with Vixen late last night?

“Are you two secretly dating?”

“Are you her rumored secret lover?”

“Is it true you acquired the record label, so you could be with her?”

I slammed the car door hard in place, my face already flushed with bated rage. I sank back against the seat, sighing softly.

This reporters were really too much!

“Just ignore them, Sir.”. My secretary said helpfully from the side, her two hands gripping the steering wheel.

Who would have thought our small walk last night, would cause such a ruckus!

“Are you okay, Sir.” Reene tried again, her face a mask of worry. Her eyes hovered over me curiously.

I sighed again and nodded at her. “Just drive. I'm fine.”

She didn't buy that, she took one last glance at me and shook her head before starting up the ignition.

The engine purred softly and kicked up immediately, the throng of reporters that had gathered ahead, quickly retreated several feet's away clearing a path for us— though some persistent ones, tried to stuff their microphones through the close car window.

Someone slapped on the car door as we slowly cruised out of the garage.

I frowned and drew out my phone again. It took me just a minute to find the lawyers number and another minute to get him on the phone.

“Hello, Attorney.” I called into the speaker.

“Good Morning, Mr. Jaxon.”

“There are a couple of reporters trespassing and sabotaging my company's property. I want them all locked up! The whole lot of them.”

“Alright sir.”

Click!

I lowered the phone, and eyed the Facebook app warily. A part of me wanted to turn on my data and check what the bloggers were saying about me.But another part of me didn't want to. Well to hell with it then.

But what when they saying about Laura?

Laura. Christ! I hadn't even bothered to know how she was keeping up with all this

I tapped the contacts icon again and scrolled the entire list till my fingers were hovering on her name.

This entire ordeal was more or less my fault— considering how much she resented me before, I didn't know how she'd react to me now.

And that gave me a sickening feeling, far worst than been needled by a bunch of reporters. Shit!

I sucked in a deep breath and hit on the redial button beside her name.

I lifted the phone to my ear and waited with bated breath as it rang out. Beads of sweat were pouring out profusely from my forehead.

One.

Two.

Three.

Christ, pick up!

“Hi, this is Laura Jacobs. I'm currently unavailable at the moment, please leave a message or call back later.”

Click!

Huh!

I frowned at the phone and thumbed the redial button again. The blood was pounding in my ear.

Was she avoiding me now?

I placed the phone back to my ear.

One.

C'mon pick up!

Two.

I turned my head to squint at through the window.

Three.

Where the fuck is she?

Her voice spoke through the answering machine again:

“Hi, this is Laura Jacobs. I'm currently unavailable at the moment, please leave a message or call back later.”

I dropped the phone back in to my laps and eyed her name, not knowing what to do next.

I rested my head back against the headrest.

If she wasn't picking maybe she'll call back, right?

Buzz!

I jumped up and reached for the phone, only to sigh when I saw the caller—Paul!

Reene chuckled softly from beside me. I ignored her and hit the answer button.

With the speaker against my ear, I called out. “Hello, Paul.”

“Christ, Jax! What the fuck did you, I've been trying to get hold of you all day.” Paul barked in to the phone.

I winced, shifting the speaker away from my ear. “Take out those goddamn ear phones, Paul!”

“Oh, sorry pal.” He called back two seconds later, his tone now back to normal.

“So what's this I'm hearing about you and Laura?” He asked immediately he could catch his breath.

“You should know better, all that's just a rumor.”

He chuckled. “I bet it is. All rumors and nothing serious huh?”

I swallowed hard, as Reene also shot me another side long look.

“Concentrate on driving.” I snapped at her.

“I am.”

“Whatever.” I turned away from her to look through the window.

“Are you still there mate?” Paul's voice boomed through the phone.

“Yeah, I am.”

“So what's all this ruckus about?”

“It's just really nothing, I'm heading to give an official statement from the record company now.”

“Hmm, okay.” He didn't sound convinced.

“What the fuck Paul, you don't believe me too?” I asked angrily.

“No, Christ I do.” He replied hastily. “But how do you explain Evan's statement?”

I arched an eyebrow at a passing car. “Evan's what?” I snapped, a sense of foreboding creeping through my stomach.

“Evan's statement. Haven't you seen the news yet?” Paul asked his voice shaking with surprise.

“What news?” I repeated, clinging to the phone more tightly than I intended while narrowing an eye at the dashboard.

With a soft sigh, he began. “Evan was interviewed by some reporters at your place this morning.”

What? My stomach tightened.

Those damn reporters again!

“What did she say?

“She told them this was all a rumor and there was nothing between you and Laura..”

I breathed a sigh of relief, cutting Paul off mid speech. “Why would she do that though?”

“I'm not done.” He snapped at my interuption.

“Okay, what else did she say?”

“She told them that you two were dating and you even made out last night after you took Laura home and she even gave them photos of you two..” His voice trailed off.

The color had already drained from my face by now and something was solidifying in my chest.

“She did what?” I growled.

“She gave them photos of you two from last night. It's at the top of the search…”

I glared at Reene and hissed softly. “Turn the car.”

“Huh?”

“Turn the damn car. NOW!” I barked.

Her legs instinctively hit the brakes and we both jerked out of our seats. Thank God for the seatbelts, that pulled us back in place.

“Christ Jax, are you alright?” Paul asked from the phone.

Of course I wasn't. How could I be alright when pictures of me snogging that opportunistic bitch are trending all over the internet.

God, thank goodness I didn't bang my dick into her. It could have been my nude out there right now.

Jesus Christ!

“I'll call you later, Paul.” I muttered in to the phone.

“Geez, don't do anything rash..”

I clicked off the phone and stowed it back in my jacket.

Evan fucking hard the guts to tape and give it out to the press. To prove what point exactly?

What the hell was she planning putting out a camera to record me, when she clearly initiated the whole thing last night?

I glared at the cars ahead of us.

Reene shot me a worried glance. “Are you alright, Sir.”

I held my breath. “No, just drive.”
