Chapter 80 The Undercover Agent {6}

Chapter 80 The Undercover Agent {6}
Jacqueline's pov

Bruno!

My head snapped to the entrance. Ramsey must have told him something about what had happened at the warehouse, and Bruno wanted to report to Alexandro.

Alexandro wrenched his head to Bruno who was walking towards us. My cheeks blossomed to the color of a rose as Bruno's eyes jammed into mine, and I turned my head sideways to hide my embarrassment.

"What is it?" Alexandro's voice was heavy with disdain for the abrupt interruption.

"There is a call..," Bruno intoned.

"Is it important?"

Alexandro hadn't pulled himself free from our embrace, his rod was firmly hard and I was certain if it weren't for Bruno, Alexandro wouldn't have been done with me.

"It's Dante," Bruno put in.

Alexandro's hands captured my waist and placed me on the marble floor while my legs dipped into the water, and with a lazy smile on his face, he started floating away.

My heart was thumping wildly, and I was trying not to look nervous.

I could still feel Bruno's gaze lingering on me even as Alexandro walked out from the water.

Somehow, I felt utterly exposed and I wished they would leave soon.

"That will be all, Suarez," Alexandro informed me without waiting for a reply, he started walking out with Bruno.

I held my breath until they left, then I let go of the breath which I was holding.

Quickly, I clambered up to my feet and hugged my hands to my body as I started the way out of the hall. I needed to call Damian.

When I entered my room, my eyes met an utter shock. My room was scattered - my clothes were littered in every corner of the room. Racks of the shoes were turned upside down.

Someone had searched my room, was it Bruno?

The bed which I slept on turned out from where it was being positioned and turned backward.

What had they been looking for?

I remained calm despite my racing heart, quickly changing into a dry outfit. I was sure they hadn't found anything to implicate me. I walked towards the toilet and reached behind the mirror, there was a hole in which I'd hidden my secret phone.

I tapped on the buttons of my secure mobile phone and suddenly froze. What if whoever had upturned my room into a mess had planted a secret camera?

Again, I needed to think out of the box. My partner needed to know the implications of the matter.

I changed into some dry clothes and started towards the balcony, there was a verandah that overlooked the entrance of the building.

There, I caught sight of Alexandro who was well-dressed and was getting into a car with Bruno. In that split second before Bruno entered the car, his eyes snapped towards me - and my heart jerked out of me.

"Q2?" I said into the phone.

"Q2 over," Damian's voice came on.

"Damian," I started, watching as Alexandro's car drove into the distance.

"I think I'm in a bit of trouble. I believe my cover has been blown, partially. Do you remember Marcus Skilinski?"

There was pause over at the other end before it was followed by a gasp, "Oh, wouldn't that be your ex-boyfriend?"

I inhaled deeply before letting go. As much as I hated recalling the past which included Marcus, there was no possible way I could conceal it.

It was even a good thing that my colleagues had been able to detect that a certain individual was stalking me when I began my training at the agency. And that individual had been Marcus.

"Marcus was at the scene where I was to pick the supplies. He recognized me and threatened to expose me. I need you to do something about Marcus.....,"

"Hold on, hold on," he interrupted me, "what supplies are you talking about?"

My eyes skimmed the area as I swung around. I couldn't tell who could be lurking around me. Somehow, I felt someone was watching me intently in the still darkness.

"Hell, Damian. You know the wall got ears," I remarked, rolling my eyes.

"Alexandro sent you to pick his supplies?" The revelation must have taken him by surprise.

"Yes, I don't know why he trusted me to do that but I believe Bruno knows something. Bruno is his right-hand man," I whispered, never taking my eyes from the entrance of where I stood.

"Do something about Marcus, please. I'll be sure to handle Bruno." I told him.

"Not to worry, I'm on it. I'll inform Maurice of everything and probably send you an encrypted message," Damian assured me.

I nodded. "When do I intend to hear from you?"

"Remember, the rule is never to call you. But do call back in three days, Maurice will be sure to keep in touch."

Maurice hadn't picked my call and that had prompted me to call Damian instead. I faced the railing, taking in some deep breaths as I pocketed the phone into the sole of my shoe. That was a much safer place to store the secret phone.

I was oblivious to the figure creeping up slowly behind me until a leather rope snuck over my neck.

My eyes snapped and I felt my life flashing before my eyes as the rope tightened.

My hands frailed out instinctively over my head to capture the head of the person trying to murder me.

One, I didn't know who was trying to kill me so I heard no sound from the said person.

Two, I couldn't get a whiff of the said person.

The rope tightened - the air in my throat constricted, and my pupils dilated.

My legs kicked frantically, allowing myself to sway repeatedly to allow me to get a grip on the person behind me.

To complicate the matter, the person tossed me over the short railings and gripped the rope - which was strangling me.

Did the person intend to make this look like a suicide?

Or did Bruno have a hand in this? Again, my life flashed before my eyes and I knew I was going to die.
