Hearing this, Kathleen changed her mind. It was true. Kara was timid. Maybe she could really create opportunities for her."
But when she thought of James humiliating her for the sake of that invalid, she stamped her feet, wishing she could tear Kara to shreds.
Originally, Kara was nice to her, but for some reason, now she kind of saw her as an enemy, which made her panic.
"Kara doesn't have something to hold onto. You are her cousin, and when you marry James, she will get benefited, too. So she has no reason not to help you." Adam analyzed proudly.
Kathleen thought what he said made sense. She now was thinking about how to butter Kara up, so that she could help her.
Hearing that it would be helpful for Kathleen's engagement, Linda reluctantly sucked it up, although she hated Kara.
"If that's so, we could just let that invalid play her part."
Sophia, who was standing aside, didn't looked well. The reason why Madam Hemming had chosen Kathleen as her future granddaughter-in-law was because of the jade pendant on Kathleen's neck.
She actually stole that jade pendant from Veronica's room. Kara might not know this yet. But if she knew, and told Madam Hemming, what would she do? Maybe she would cancel the engagement.
"Honey, maybe we should get Kara back. It's not right for a little girl like her to stay in someone's house."
"What do you know? You idiot, be careful. Don't ruin Kathleen's marriage." Before Adam could say anything, Linda scolded her.
"Kathleen is going to marry into the Hemmings. We must have everything under control. Sophia Green, don't screw it up. Otherwise, you know me."
Being scolded like this, Sophia had to put up with this, although she felt angry and wronged.
James' villa.
James washed Kara's face. Looking at her red and swollen eyes, he frowned and asked Libby to bring some ice.
Out of nowhere, he felt thirsty. Maybe the room was too hot. He drank a glass of water, but he still felt uncomfortable.
His gaze unconsciously landed on Kara's pink lips. He made himself to look away, and loosened his tie irritably.
"Uncle James, are you alright?" Seeing him like this, Kara asked worriedly.
She held ice cubes in her hands. James felt that he wanted to draw nearer to her.
Suddenly, he thought of the water he drank at his grandma's place. He got a bad feeling about this. He must have been drugged with aphrodisiac.
He suddenly grabbed Kara's hand, his warm palm against the back of her hand.
Kara didn't withdraw her hand. Instead, she held his hand tightly. She thought maybe he didn't feel well.
James stared at the little girl's soft hand with his brown eyes full of desire. Kara was a little freaked out.
"Uncle James, are you not feeling well? Shall we go to see a doctor?"
Hearing she call him "Uncle James", James fixed his eyes on her for a while and shook off her small hand.
"I'll go upstairs and get changed."
Kara watched as he rushed upstairs, thinking that he must be unwilling to show his weak side in front of her.
"Miss Kara, dinner is ready. Do you want to have dinner now or....?"
"Libby, Uncle James might be sick. I'll go upstairs to take a look."
Hearing that James was sick, Libby stopped Kara nervously at once, "Mr. James might have a stomachache. He doesn't care for his health when he is busy. Miss Kara, I'll go get some medicine and you go persuade him to take it."
Kara hurriedly followed Libby to take the medicine and then brought it to his bedroom.
She pushed the door open gently. Just as she was about to speak, she saw something she wasn't supposed to see. She blushed as she quickly covered her face with her hands and turned around.
James took a cold shower, but he found that the heat in his body did not go away. Instead, it became even worse. Realizing that the physical cooling method was useless, he walked out of the bathroom to call Will with his phone before he toweled himself dry.
When he turned around and saw the girl standing at the door, he frowned and said, "What's up?"
Kara blushed as she heard his hoarse voice.
She had no choice but to turn around again. Through her fingers, she could see that the man had messy wet hair and had water drops on his handsome reddish face, which made him look even more languorous.
Water drops rolled down his tanned body. The man had a big chest, solid arms, eight-pack abs, and strong thighs...
She quickly shook her head to keep calm, and she reminded herself that his disease would get worse, "Uncle James, I've brought you some pills."
"Pills?"
James fixed his brown eyes on her.
She approached him step by step. James could even smell the refreshing fragrance on her body which only young girls had.
"Uncle James, you should take good care of yourself. Let me pour some water for you. These pills will help you get better." Seeing James' sullen face, Kara thought that he was a man who hated taking medicine.
When she was a child, she hated pills, too. She only took medicine when her mother gently talked her into doing it.
As she was about to turn around and pour water for him, James grabbed her hand with his hand. His palm was burning hot.
Kara thought that his disease was getting worse. She touched his arm and his face again, and the temperature was frightening.
"Uncle James, you have a fever!"
James stared at the girl's innocent face, finding it more and more difficult to bear the heat in his body.
However, the girl was still touching his body with her fair soft hands. The coolness of her skin almost made him lose control, so he pushed her away.
"Get out!"
Kara stepped back as she was startled by his push, her legs hitting the edge of the bed, and she staggered.
Seeing that she was about to fall, James instinctively reached out to pull her into his embrace. Feeling her cool skin, he finally completely lost his mind.
His body was ignited, and the man tightened his arms and fixed his eyes on her pink lips again.
"Uncle James, you're burning.... "
James couldn't hear anything she was saying when he saw her moist lips open and close. There was only one thought in his mind. He wanted to taste her pink lips. They must be delicious.
His actions went earlier than his reason. He held his hand at the back of her head, and then lowered his head to kiss her fiercely on her lips.
He sighed as he tasted the sweetness on her soft lips. He liked it so much, and he was eager for more.
Kara's eyes widened as she was suddenly kissed on her lips, and she forgot to react in shock.
Only when the man's wet tongue entered her mouth did she realize that something was wrong. Her face turned red and she pushed his shoulder in panic.
However, she couldn't break free from his strong arms that were like iron chains.
"Uncle.... Oh...."
