Chapter 1039: Who Are You Eloping With?

Mary was so startled she kept patting her chest, but little did she know her actions made Timothy think she was guilty of something.

"Am I not allowed to come back?" Timothy's face was dark, his eyes colder than ice.

Was she upset that he came back unexpectedly, disrupting her plans to sneak out?

She really had some nerve!

Saying such things right in front of him.

"What's going on? Is Dr. Reed back? I think I heard him talking," Felicity's voice came through the phone, sounding amused and slightly mocking.

Timothy's voice had carried clearly through the phone, and Felicity was quick to inquire, her tone laced with a hint of schadenfreude.

But before Mary could respond, Timothy's eyes turned cold, and he snatched the phone, hanging up abruptly.

"What are you doing?" Mary was stunned, feeling that Timothy was acting strangely today. Had he been upset and was now taking it out on her?

Was he really that kind of man?

As Mary stood there in shock, Timothy let out a cold laugh and stepped forward, forcing Mary to back up against the kitchen counter, feeling completely at a loss.

"I came to see how my wife plans to run away and elope with someone else." Timothy's body moved closer, his warm hands encircling her waist, the scent of his cologne enveloping Mary.

Mary's heart raced, her eyes wide and clear like a deer's, looking at Timothy with a wet, bewildered gaze.

What was he talking about?

What elopement?

Mary stared at Timothy's handsome face, her mind going blank.

"I'm here now. How do you plan to leave? Is he coming to pick you up?" Timothy's voice grew hoarse as he looked at the frightened Mary, his Adam's apple moving involuntarily.

He reached out with his left hand, gently holding the back of Mary's head, his hot breath spraying against her ear.

The questioning words sent shivers through her body, making it hard for Mary to even comprehend what he was saying.

"You!" Mary blushed, biting her lower lip and pushing against Timothy. "Get away!"

But Timothy was serious, and her strength was no match for him.

Instead of pushing him away, Timothy lowered his head, almost biting her ear, persistently asking, "I came back. Are you planning to leave tonight or have that man pick you up tomorrow morning?"

"What man? What are you talking about?" Mary was overwhelmed by the scent of his cologne, her body heating up, his hot breath making her almost lose her balance.

"I heard everything. Are you still going to lie?" Timothy's eyes darkened as he looked at her flushed face, her delicate lips, and her exquisite features.

"What lie?" Mary was both ashamed and angry. Timothy clearly didn't like her, yet he used his charm to seduce her, and she was foolish enough to fall for it.

Her legs felt weak, her body soft.

But her rational mind told her that Timothy didn't belong to her.

He neither liked her nor cared about her.

Mary continued to struggle, trying to push Timothy away.

Timothy was about to say something when the soup in the pot boiled over, the lid rattling with the steam.

Mary quickly took the opportunity to push him away and turn off the stove.

But Timothy followed closely behind, his body pressing against her back, his hot breath continuously spraying on her neck.

"Where do you think you're going?" Mary's heart softened, beating so fast it felt like it would leap out of her chest.

Her blush deepened, spreading to the back of her neck, as if the tender scent of her skin was evaporating.

Before she could say anything, Timothy scooped her up, carrying her back to the bedroom amidst her cries of surprise, and closed the door.

"You!" Mary was disoriented, finding herself lying on the bed.

Then, a wave of heat descended on her face and lips.

"What are you doing?" Her questioning words were cut off.

Timothy's gentle tongue slipped into her mouth, greedily capturing her breath, exploring every corner.

The sudden kiss was like a storm, catching her off guard. The mingling of their tongues sent shivers through her, leaving Mary's mind blank as she closed her eyes in submission.

His kiss made her whole body tingle, her head dizzy, and she gradually forgot to resist, instinctively returning his kiss.

In that moment of passion, they forgot everything.

The flames of emotion burned, making them lose themselves, instinctively holding each other tight.

In the midst of the heated embrace, Timothy's anger dissipated. Instead, as he looked at Mary's misty, watery eyes, her flushed face, and the tiny beads of sweat on her nose, his heart filled with tenderness.

Just as he was about to continue, Mary suddenly cried out.

"What's wrong?"

"I think my period just started," Mary said, clutching her stomach. "I need to go to the bathroom."

The room fell silent.

Timothy looked at Mary, speechless, while Mary lowered her head, feeling like all the blood in her body had rushed to her face, making it burn.

What was this?

A couple who had been sleeping in separate rooms for three years finally got intimate for the first time, only to be interrupted by her period.

"I'll go get you something warm to drink," Timothy said, averting his eyes, and pulled the blanket over Mary's exposed body.

Then he calmly put on his shirt, picked up his suit jacket, and gracefully left the room.

Mary didn't dare lift her head until she heard the door close. She grabbed a piece of clothing and quickly put it on, then rummaged through the closet for a robe to cover herself.

After tidying up in the bathroom, she lay back in bed, finally coming to her senses.

But once she was fully awake, she felt even more embarrassed.

What had just happened?

She had almost ended up completely naked, and they...

Mary buried her head in the blanket, wishing she could stay hidden forever.

It was so embarrassing!

She hadn't rejected Timothy; instead, she had responded to his kiss.

Would he think she was shameless?

As Mary tossed and turned, lost in thought, there was a knock on the door.

Timothy walked in with a small tray, carrying a cup of hot cocoa and a small hot water bottle.

"Drink some hot cocoa and use the hot water bottle for a while. You'll feel better soon."

Even holding the tray, with steam rising from the cocoa, he still looked incredibly handsome, as cold as an iceberg.

Mary peeked out from under the blanket, her eyes resembling those of a cute kitten in the dim light.

"I wasn't planning to elope with anyone. The company sent me to participate in the Westfield Jewelry Design Competition. I hadn't had a chance to tell you yet."

After calming down, Mary not only recalled what had just happened but also realized that Timothy had misunderstood something.
