Chapter 99 Chapter 99
Selena.
Everyone seemed to quiet down as I heard Theodore’s voice.
When did he get here? I turned to his direction.
And there he was, Zac beside him. The black pants and black sleeve shirt he wore make him look like a model who just came out of a magazine.
But then, he always looked like that.
“Boss,” Svetlana said beside me, excited like a damsel whose prince had just appeared.
Theodore came to stand infront of me.
“ I must be so attractive that my presence left your mouth in awe.” He said.
I snapped my head back to reality.
“When did you get here?” I asked, my voice low for only his hearing.
“Enough to witness some part.” His voice lowered as he replied, then he took my hands. My eyes widened. People were looking.
“I’m sorry that I’m late.” His fingers rub the skin of my hands, his smell already a comfort before he spoke.
Looking at him, his brows seemed to tighten, but there was no anger in his eyes. Maybe the situation wasn't enough to anger him.
In fact, it shouldn't.
The sales rep scoffed, and we all turned back to her. For a minute, I had forgotten her existence.
“I don't know what play is going on here, but it’s time you all leave before I ask security to see you out.” She folded her arms on her chest.
I sighed. “We don't have to entertain her,” I said to Theo. “She said there’s another building around here, let's shop there.”
Theodore may be rich and powerful, but it was normal for people not to know him, plus this wasn't our country.
I held his hand, flashing him a smile.
“She is really rude, she even pushed me.” I hear Svetlana complain, Zac beside her.
“Did you get hurt?”
I couldn’t see what they were doing, but it felt awesome and if it wasn't the situation on the ground, I would have smiled. Theodore’s eyes were on me.
“This’s the best place to shop in Seoul, why should we leave?” He let go of my hands, and moved to the session of dress, placing one hand inside his pocket.
“Sir, you can't do this. You can't touch those clothes however you like.”
“Zac, call Ethan and ask how much to get 75% share of this building.”
His voice was loud, clear, and deep.
“I’ll be right back, boss,” Zac excused himself, and I rushed to Theo.
“You aren't going to buy here right? We can just leave—”
“Let him buy it, let's see if he can afford it. I can't believe I have to experience this today.”
Why can’t she just keep quiet?
I only faced Theo, “You really don't have to take—”
He pulled out a short red gown, sizing me up with it. “I think this will look good on you. What do you think, Selena?”
I wanted to roll my eyes.
Instead, I faked a smile. “It’s lovely, but—” I touched his hand.
“We don't have to do this. Let’s just leave, please.” I pleaded.
His face flickered, and a frown drew on his face. His chin tightened. He was mad. He smiled, but it wasn't sincere.
“Oh Selena,” He turned back, checking the dress’s session, completely ignoring me.
“I don't want you to be bullied, Selena. I won’t let you so don't let it.” He took out another dress and seized me up with his eyes
How do I tell him that all my life, I’ve been bullied and criticized? That I was used to it, and it was okay to receive this today.
“Boss.”
Zac ran to us. “Ethan has the preliminary numbers, boss.”
Theodore doesn’t look at him, Instead he took out another dress.
From the side of my eyes, I could see another sales rep standing beside the former one, who spoke animatedly with her.
She was in trouble yet didn't know this.
“To acquire a seventy-five percent interest, the total market valuation is approximately eight hundred and forty million USD. Boss Ethan advises a twenty percent premium.”
I could feel my head spinning at everything being said.
“Make it a 40% percent premium.”
“What,” I gasped. The amount was already ridiculous.
“You aren't being serious, right?” I asked but none of them was ready to look at me.
Now I could feel the silence from the sales reps.
“That’s a total of one billion, one hundred and seventy-six million dollars, boss.”
“Tell Ethan to process and make everything done in less than 30 minutes.”
“Yes, boss.” Zac left.
“Is the boss being serious right now?” Svetlana came closer to me.
Theodore won’t look at me. How pissed was he?
“Where is he?”
Footsteps rushed in. A Korean lady, wearing a blue gown—she should be in her thirties. She rushed in with five security guards, who immediately started walking other customers out.
Her gaze landed on us and she hurried to us.
“Mr Mateo, I've only been informed of your arrival now. Please tell me what you need. I’m the new manager.” She spoke, her stance respectful, but I could see her fingers shaking.
My eyes met the sales rep. Now her head lowered, her fingers scratching against her skin. Her legs trembled.
I didn't want this.
“I also heard our employee was rude to your partner, please forgive me for failing at picking a competent worker.” She bowed her head, and before I knew what was happening, she moved to the sales rep and dragged her by her shirt.
“How dare you fail to recognise Mr Theodore Mateo, do you want to die?” I hear her cuss, dragging the already shaken rep.
Looking at Theodore, he held no expression. All he does is give more dresses to Svetlana.
“Kneel,” She pushed the rep, and she hit her knees on the cold floor.
I flinched. It must hurt.
“I’m sorry, Mr Mateo. Please forgive us.” The manager bowed.
“Please forgive me, I didn't know who you were.” The sales rep bowed her head to the floor, her voice breaking.
“How can you not know! It isn't everyone that looks this magnificent!” The manager yelled.
Everything was unfolding too fast. I’ve been in this situation before.
Multiply times, but unlike the sales rep, I always fall victim to malicious customers, ones who get me fired just for breathing.
“I want you to blacklist her from every smaller or bigger company.”
My heart skipped as I heard him say.
“Please, I’m sorry. Please forgive me. Anything else but that. I’ve my mother and younger sister to care for.” The sales reps started wailing, she bowed her head to the floor.
“You should have thought of that before provoking.”
I stepped closer to Theodore. “You can't do that. I know she did wrong, but that’s too much, can’t yo—”
I froze as he turned to me. His face was stony cold, different from the Theodore I have been with these past days.
“Svetlana, take your madam to check out the dresses.”
“I…—”
“Let's go, Miss Selena.” Svetlana didn't let me speak before she held my hand, taking me away from the scene.
