Chapter 46 Chapter 46
Theodore
Two little boys walked in the dark place. The shortest held a torch, pointing it into the building they were entering.
“Miguel, is it safe for us to come in here? Everywhere looks so dark and creepy." The youngest whined, and they stopped. The older turned to look at the youngest.
“But you said you wanted to come in here. I saw you looking at it through the window of the villa.” His gaze was concerned as he looked at the younger one who had a striking resemblance to him.
“Yes, but I want to go home now, it’s getting scary and creepy as the movie mother watches. Let's go back, and maybe come back later in the day.” The younger one only whined further.
Despite the whine, the older boy didn't look convinced.
“What are you doing? Come on now and stop being a crybaby, this’s what you wanted after all.” The older’s voice rose, and he took hold of the younger's wrist, dragging him further.
Now the younger cries and pleads turned urgently as he is dragged.
“What are you doing? Stop dragging me, I don't want to go with you.”
Suddenly everything went blank and then his eyes opened.
“Where am I?” The younger looked around, but he couldn't see anything at the light placed on top of his head.
He looked down, and his heart filled with fear. He was tied to a table, only in his little pants, his chest open.
Fear gripped him.
“Muguel…Miguel where are you?” He yelled, tears falling, staining his cheeks.
“Why are you crying, Theo?” Mother walked into the room, and she stood in front of me, her lips seemed to smile warmly, but her gaze narrowed as she looked down, but I still smiled, happy to see her.
“Mom, please where is Miguel? I told him we should leave the bad house and go again later, but he keeps taking me inside. He didn't listen to me.” I cried looking at her, her red lipstick shining as always.
“Of course he won't, Theo,” She moved away from me, and I tried to reach her, but fell back. My hands were tied.
“Afterall, your brother loves you the most and will never do anything to make you unhappy, that’s why he is dead.”
I froze.
What was that? What could mother be saying?
Mother walked back to my side, slowly, something in her hands, but I couldn't tell what, as my eyes were blurry from tears.
“What are you saying mom? What happened to Miguel?” My voice shook as I looked at her.
She placed her hand on my hair, placing it with other strands.
“You killed Miguel, Theo. You killed your brother.”
“No!” I yelled, closing my eyes, tears rolling out. “I did not. I didn't kill him. I didn't kill,”
“Shss, shss son. Don't beat yourself to it. Just lie down and I will take you to him. No, I’ll bring back your brother, don't you want that?” Now she smiles, her face covering the lights, her hands placed above my head, a needle in her hands moving closer to my eyes.
“No mom…No…No..No..”
I snapped my eyes open, my hands reaching for my gun under the pillow. I cocked it and placed it on her head.
Then my eyes cleared to reality.
Selena.
Her eyes widened as she looked at me, and a sweat rolled down her cheek as she looked at my gun that I held to her chest.
I had thought she was my mother. I looked around. I wasn't there anymore. I was in my office, lying on the couch.
“Boss,” She called, her heart beating loudly as she now looked at me.
When did she get in here? Why was she in a squatting position in front of me?
I withdrew the gun, keeping it back under the pillow.
Selena inhaled, she stood up, her movement careful as she kept a good space between us.
“What are you doing here?” I sat up on the couch.
Shit, my body hurt like I was dragged over a hard surface. I was dripping in cold sweat.
Selena took a further step. She was afraid, she didn't want to show it, but her legs were trembling as she stood, and she licked her lips.
“I came to ask you about the schedule. Mrs Anastasia said we would be leaving for another country and I shou—”
My eyes moved to her neck. She had angered me yesterday, and I had lost control.
I have been called all sorts of names till now, but never have I lost control over any. I’ve always taken pride in everything I do, every matter of the underground. But hearing her, I snapped.
She thought too evil of me when she hadn't even seen all that my world can be.
Then what if she sees it all?
“The schedule would be delivered to you, go back,” I said, resting back on the couch.
It was better to send her away. I needed to head to the room and get the drugs.
Shit, it has been a long time since I took them. The nightmares have been occurring frequently now.
I looked up when I noticed she hadn't moved. She fidgeted with her fingers.
“Say it.”
She looked up and her eyes locked with mine. “I…I want to apologize for what I said. I shouldn't have said that and accused you blindly. I’m sorry.” Her gaze fixed on me.
The room turned silent.
..
..
..
She was sincere.
“What can I say? You have a mind of your own, Selena. If you are done now, leave.”
But she didn't, she held a worried look.
“Speak,” My jaw tightened. I wanted to be alone. I needed to get out of my head.
“Hm,” she locked gaze with me again. “Is it possible for Valeria to take some time off, she really hurt her face, so….”
My eyes narrowed, and Selena retreated into herself. “Did she ask you to tell me?”
“No,” She shook her head. “I happened to cross her before coming here. Valerie is hurt, she said she had fallen, but I think someone has hurt her. Isn't there like an insurance on the company to protect her? She also holds an important position in the company, so….”
I closed my eyes looking at her frustrated look.
I’ve forgotten her deal at the house and now this? Why does she keep poking herself into other people's matters?
I opened my eyes to look at her. The one fear was gone, now occupied with bravery.
I sighed. “You should reflect on yourself before asking for something of such. If Valeria needs help, she knows what to do. Now leave,”
She sighed in defeat and slowly, she turned to leave. My eyes moved down to her body.
The black suit skirt hugged her thigh firmly, the shirt slinging to her body. Her hair moved on her back as she took another step.
I swallowed.
“You could ask for anything once you are my muse. I’ll give you anything you want, just be mine in exchange.”
She stopped, turned and our eyes locked. Those beautiful eyes that keep appearing since that night.
How long was she going to take before agreeing to me? What did I have to do to push her into accepting?
Her face broke into a sudden smile, “Ha..ha ha.” She laughed. “I’ll be leaving now boss, I’ll take Valeria to the clinic.”
