Chapter 28 Chapter 28
Selena
“Are you ready Josh, I’ll drop you off at school.” I wiped my wet hands with a towel and walked into the room.
Josh was at the table, searching his bag for something. He was dressed, ready for college.
“I am, but I’ll walk. You should think about yourself, it’s almost time for work.”
“I’m already ready. I need to grab my bag.” I entered my room and took the bag that I had placed on the bed earlier.
I stood in front of the mirror.
For today, I picked a brown skirt, with a little slit on my left leg, and a black shirt paired with it. The skirt hugged my skin, showing off my figure.
‘Think of it, Selena, you are beautiful, with a sinful body, every man would pay to fall to worship your legs.’
Halley’s voice filled my head, and memories started following in. I closed my eyes, pushing them back to the deep corner of my brain.
It has never been good. Actually, T&M was the only company where I hadn’t had men lusting over me and trying to sabotage me.
Going to the company, I don’t have to beat myself up on who to avoid, and who not to snap at when touched.
I allowed my lips to curl into a smile as I watched myself in the mirror.
“You are doing great,” I spoke to myself, nodding.
“You aren’t leaving now?” Josh called out.
“I am,” I yelled out.
I turned, about walking out, but stopped as my eyes met the box which I had placed at the corner of my room. I sighed.
Halley had spent a good couple of hours encouraging me to put the dress on, but I didn’t.
The gown was just outrageous. Wearing it, is calling my body to be fully exposed to him. I wasn’t going to do that.
I had expected a message or a call to follow after I received it, but nothing came.
I sighed, then walked out of my room to the living room. Josh was waiting at the door, his hands on his waist.
“Sorryy brother,” I dragged sweetly, smiling at him. He shook his head. And we stepped out. With him locking the door.
“It’s getting cold soon, so always take a jacket with you. This weekend, I’ll buy you some coats, I noticed you don’t have any.” I removed my hair from my eyes as we reached downstairs.
“Yes lovely sister, thank you so much, but I can get it myself, I’m no longer a kid you know,”
I made a face at him. “Yes yes, the same th–“
I froze at the view in front of me. My car was no longer at the front, instead there was another car.
“Where is your car?” Josh asked what was on my mind.
“I left it here this morning. God, don’t tell me it was moved somewhere else,”
“Let me check over there,” Josh moved to the other side, while I stared at the car which had now replaced mine.
From my knowledge of the apartment, I doubt if anyone here bought a new car, especially something like this. I wasn’t so knowledgeable on cars, but this looks exquisitely fancy to belong here.
“This’s weird,” I heard Josh say, “There is nothing here.” He started walking towards me.
“I’ll just check the CCTV,” I turned to head back inside.
“Wait, there is a note.”
I turned back to Josh, and he was holding a red note.
A red note? My heart stilled as I looked at the car again. It couldn’t be..
“I think you had looked better driving this, Selena. Don’t worry about your car, just use this from now on.” Josh read, his face frowning at each pause.
It was Theodore. I looked at the car again, no wonder it was fancy.
I clearly told him I didn’t want his car, and now he even changed it? How did he get to know my place?
“There is a key.” Josh raised it.
I walked towards him, taking both the key, and the card.
“You must have concluded the identity, who is this person?” Josh looked worried.
I shook my head and smiled. “You don’t have to worry, I know him.”
But he wasn’t hearing it. His face tightened as he glared at me. He wasn’t even going to leave, I sighed.
“It’s my boss. He seemed to like me and want to shower me with gifts, you know rich people.” I laughed awkwardly, avoiding his eyes, because yeah, I was lying.
“Your boss?”
I nodded.
“I may not know this car, but it looks expensive, does that make your boss, Theodore Mateo?” His gaze hardened, waiting for me to lie.
“Ha ha,” I laughed. “What do you mean by him? He isn’t the only rich person in the company.”
“You know you are bad at lying right?”
I stopped and sighed.
“I still question how you got into T&M, but I don’t want to doubt you, so having Theodore Mateo eyes on you, is a no.”
Me too brother.
“I understand. Don’t worry, this is adult business. I’ll take care of it, so don’t worry your smarty ass over it now.”
“I’m an adult.” He countered, and I nodded.
“Yes, baby brother, I know. Don’t worry about this, I should be back with my car today. I promise I’m safe, so don’t worry. I mean, maybe he genuinely cares about me,” I shrugged, knowing too well the bullshit from my mouth.
Josh narrowed his eyes. “He shouldn’t dream of it. He is dirty, and doesn’t deserve you.” His eyes burned into mine. And I could see Josh.
Though I wasn’t anything to Theodore, Josh's words sounded like a warning.
“Yes yes,” I nodded. “I’ll sort everything out so don’t worry. Go now.” I pushed his arm towards the way.
“Should I drive you to work?”
I rolled my eyes. “You don’t even have a license, Josh. Please go now.”
He stared at me for a moment, and then at the car, his eyes completely worried. I nodded at him with a smile to assure him that everything was fine.
He sighed and then walked out.
I watched his back before entering the new car.
Its interior was beautiful.
Throughout the ride, I moved extra slowly to avoid crashing the car. I wasn’t going to invite trouble by damaging the car.
I arrived at the parking space and stopped the car. I sighed before taking my things out.
The car was beautiful, but I wasn’t going to keep it, especially since he wasn’t accepting of my choice.
“Look who we have here,”
I turned to the voice of Valeria. She was with another female, who stood by her side.
Valeria folded her hands on her chest, her eyes looking past me to the car.
“Good morning, Valeria.” I greeted. Sensing she didn’t like me, I tried to avoid her at all times, but it seemed there was no way out today.
“It’s indeed a lovely morning, isn’t it?” She moved past me to my car, her friend following after her.
“You changed your car?” She scoffed as she toured the car. “Oh, it’s a private car.”
“Wow, aren't private cars only owned by a few figures in the country?” Her friend's mouth widened as she turned to me, her eyes swept over me from head to toe.
“It isn’t m–“
“Of course it isn’t hers. Does she look like she can afford it? Even her shoe is a knockoff.” Valeria whispered to her friend, well I won’t consider it a whisper as I could hear her.
“Then how come she…”
“I’ll leave now, I have some documents to attend to.” I stepped in. Something tells me staying with them would only cause trouble.
“Why are you in a rush, or are you afraid the owner of the car would be given out?”
“Oh, Sarah and Janet are here.”
