But Lucille acted as if she didn’t see him, her expression cold as ice. She, the other man, and a group of bodyguards all helped the grandmother into the car.
The car then sped away, not stopping for even a moment.
Leaving Cedrick standing there alone for a long, long time.
Lucille hadn’t expected Robert to get such a huge house ready so quickly.
Grandma was a bit startled, especially by the dozens of bodyguards standing in perfect formation. She’d never seen anything like it. She called out to Robert, “Robert, dear… what do all these people do?”
The worry in her eyes, which clearly said, “You’re not involved in anything illegal, are you?” made Robert laugh. “Grandma, don’t worry. They’re good people, and so am I.”
Robert’s words made Grandma blush. “That’s not what I meant. I was just saying…”
What could she say? There was no way to take it back now.
Robert couldn’t help but smile. “Grandma, your grandson is just very successful. A lot of people rely on him for their jobs, so they send a lot of people to protect him. They’re afraid if something happened to him one day, they’d all lose their jobs.”
“Pah! Pah! Pah!
What a silly child, talking such nonsense!”
Grandma quickly spat a few times. “Let the good predictions come true, not the bad ones!”
That made Robert even more amused, and he led them to pick out their rooms.
“Brother, we’re only staying for a month,”
Lucille said, thinking such a grand house was overkill.
“Even if it’s just for one day, you shouldn’t sell yourself short. Every day should be lived well. How many single days does a person get in a lifetime?”
Robert tapped her on the head.

Lucille thought of her past five years spent in a daze, and the tap felt like a sudden wake–up call
In the end, she and Grandma chose adjoining rooms on the second floor. The bedrooms had large floor–to–ceiling windows that opened onto a curved balcony, just outside of which stood a plane tree, lush with green leaves.
“It’s truly wonderful…” Grandma marveled. “I never thought I’d live to see such good days.”
“Grandma, from now on, every day will be a good day.”
As Robert spoke, his phone kept ringing, but he was too busy to answer.
“Brother. go ahead and take care of your business. Grandma and I will get ourselves settled.”
Lucille was afraid she was holding him up from something important.
Robert did have important business. Now that his grandmother was out of the hospital, he had to officially start setting up his company. Before that, Edwin would be hosting a large banquet for him to meet the elites of Seaston.
Robert didn’t hide it from Lucille, “You and Grandma should come to the banquet too, assuming you want to. Also, I’ve already scheduled Grandma’s visa interview, and I’ll take her to it. The rest of the time, you two should just rest up at home. If you need to go out, remember to take Zhen with you.”
Zhen was the head of Robert’s bodyguards.
Lucille hadn’t left the house these past few days, mainly because she wanted to stay with her grandmother.
Her grandmother had just gotten out of the hospital. Although she was recovering every day, she was still weak, so it was better to rest quietly at home.
Robert became incredibly busy, leaving early and coming home late, so he was barely seen. It wasn’t until the day he took their grandmother for the visa interview that Lucille saw him again.
Robert even apologized to the two of them for being too busy to spend time with them.
“Of course your work is more important. We’re doing just fine.”
Her grandmother told him with a smile.
Robert then brought up the company dinner. “Want to go?
