Chapter 186
How many times had she tried to build a romantic life and home with him, only to be shut down by his coldness? And now he accused her of not being romantic?
“Maybe… my idea of romance is different from yours.”
She opened the cabinet door and pulled out noodles. “Have you eaten?”
He stepped forward and snatched the noodles from her hands. “I told you I’d take you out for dinner today. I’ve al ready booked a restaurant.”
Really?
Only then did Lucille remember he had indeed mentioned it.
“You didn’t forget, did you?”
His expression turned stern. “You never remember a word I say. What do you even think about all day?”
Lucille shot him a glance, keeping one thought to herself: thinking about how to divorce you.
“Now you’re upset because I called you out?”
He misinterpreted her look, turning off the stove. “Come on, change your clothes. We’re going out to eat.”
Fine.
Lucille thought to herself, treat it as a last supper.
Cedrick had booked a Japanese restaurant, which surprised Lucille. Cedrick preferred bold flavors–not only was Ja- panese cuisine too light for him, but he also avoided raw foods. And she rarely ate sashimi herself.
“Newly opened. Let’s try it.”
He led her into a spacious tatami room, just the two of them.
A server brought menus and introduced their grand opening special set meals.
“We’ll wait. Let us look first,” Cedrick said.
“Of course. Just press the bell if you need anything.”
After the server left, Cedrick told Lucille, “Order whatever you like. Don’t worry about set meals–they always in- clude things people don’t want.”
Lucille didn’t mind much. For her, the bigger issue with set meals was the waste.

288 Vouchers
She scanned the QR code and ordered grilled wagyu, tempura, a soup, and two portions of sushi before setting her phone down.
“That’s all?”
He kept ordering.
Lucille didn’t see what he added, but when he finished, he remarked, “You didn’t get dessert. Don’t you want ice
cream?”
“Let me see then.”
Lucille scanned the code again. The order now showed over thirty items. She expanded the list–dozens of sashimi entries, not as platters but full portions, some even duplicated multiple times.
“Can we possibly eat this much?”
The sheer quantity stunned her. The cost didn’t matter anymore; the question was whether they could finish it.
“Neither of us really eats raw food!”
“We’ll manage. See if you want to add anything else?”
Lucille saw no need. This was already excessive!
She didn’t even want dessert now. But a sudden thought struck her. She asked Cedrick, “Did you invite other people?”
Cedrick smiled faintly. “It was just us at first. But when we left, I remembered Maricela also loves Japanese food. So I called everyone.”
Lucille stared at him coldly. “What do you mean, also loves Japanese food?”
“I guess neither of us likes it?”
Only Maricela ever enjoyed this dish. And he calls this “suddenly remembering Maricela ‘s preference” when leav- ing?
“Does the food even matter?
What counts is everyone getting together.”
Cedrick reached across the table to hold her hand. “Don’t be mad, alright?
I shouldn’t have kept it from you. But if I’d told you earlier, you’d have refused to come.”
“That’s not it, Cedrick. When have I ever stopped you from dining with Maricela?
Eat together if you want! Why drag me into this?”
“Lucille, they’re my closest brothers. You’re my wife. It’s tough for me when you and them are like oil and water. Truth is, they all want to get along with you, especially Maricela. She feels awful about this morning and really wants to make peace. Just do this for me. Have this meal properly and accept their goodwill.”
