Chapter 32: The Punishment (3)

I did not know how to speak for a moment. Melika has always disliked me, thinking I am not worthy of her daughter. If not for the fact that Emma threatened her life at first, Melika would never have married her daughter to me!

Emma wondered what Melika was doing here, and I felt strange, too, because Melika had never come here alone!

I noticed the corners of George’s mouth turn slightly in amusement, and I realized that this was George’s doing again!

I patiently explained, "Melika, that’s not what I meant..."

I didn’t t expect Melika to act like she had eaten dynamite today and hurl a torrent of insults at me without giving me any face!

At one time, Emma would have said a good word to me, but now she just stood there and listened silently. I couldn’t hold it in any longer, "If you don’t like me, just beat me up; there’s no need to insult me here!"

"What did you say? How dare you to talk back? Norman, do you think my marrying my daughter to you means I approve of you so that you dare contradict me now? I tell you, just like you, can marry my daughter is a rare luck!

Melika was very concerned about her reputation and couldn’t stand being pointed out, so she started to attack me physically, even directing George to come up and teach me a lesson. But I didn’t want to put up with it anymore. I raised my hand and punched George in the face, and then turned around and walked away, leaving a group of people stunned in their tracks.

I walked down the street in annoyance and lit a cigarette. Emma called a dozen times, but I didn’t want to answer. Finally, she chased me out and found me, and my resolve began to waver.

.Emma hugged me, her eyes filled with tears. "Hubby, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said that about you. My mom was in a bad mood today before she said those things, and she didn’t mean it! I apologize to you on behalf of my mom. I promise I will never let you suffer any grievances again! Let’s go back, okay?"

Looking at Emma’s guilty look, I also couldn’t bear it. All the unpleasantness of what had just happened quickly disappeared, and eventually, Emma and I returned home.

The next day, after finally taking a break in the store, I wanted to take Emma out to play. It’s been a long time since we had a day out as a couple! At every turn, George comes along and sticks his nose in, and I’m sick of it!

I snuck the gift I’d bought for Emma into her bag, thinking I’d surprise her, but I didn’t expect to find a torn piece of black silk and a couple of thought-provoking little outfits in her bag!

Even more unbelievably, I found Emma’s pregnancy test inside the dress!

The pregnancy test showed that Emma was three months pregnant, but before, Emma said she had eczema, itchy and swollen, and I was worried about her, so we hadn’t made out for six months!

I didn’t expect her to eat her fill outside. I felt sad.

I was just about to question Emma when George returned and ignored me to find Emma.

I thought for a moment and eventually stopped at the door of the room and heard Emma and George discussing abortion.

When I thought that I was betrayed, the anger in my chest almost burst through my chest, and I kicked the door open with a bang.

"Abortion? Whose baby are you carrying? Emma, tell me!" I stared at Emma.

Emma was startled and unconsciously took a few steps back, but she was still sophomoric, "Honey, listen to me, I didn’t..."

"Enough!" I interrupted her, taking everything in her bag, "Stop your sophistry. These are the proof!"

" Norman, are you out of your mind? What are you being mean about?" George stepped in front of Emma.

"I’ve been betrayed, and I can’t speak? Your family is so unreasonable! Emma, whose baby is this? It’s George’s. I’ve always thought there was something wrong with you guys!" I roared, my eyes a little red.
