Chapter 334: not your place
I looked at her for a full minute, not really knowing what to say.
“it is strange isn’t it? He knows never to leave the castle, especially when he is low on strength and then he leaves and for some reason, it is right when you leave” she shook her head, as though trying to make sense of it. “i just… i just can’t wrap my head around why he would go out and more so, why you would let him knowing the weak state he was in.”
I was silent. “you pushed him” she said, looking up at me. “you pushed him to do this, did you not?” she said, looking at me in an accusatory voice.
I shook my head as she looked at me with predatory eyes.
“i would never do that to him, push him to what he does not want to do” i answered, feeling everywhere was hot all of a sudden.
She nodded, seeming to believe me and then let out a breath through her mouth. “then…” she closed her eyes, aggresively wiping away the stray tears in her eyes.
“i had some report” she said, looking at me again with those preditory looks “did you.. did you love him.?” she asked, sounding unsure of how to ask the question.
“yes” i asked without hesitation. There was never a doubt in my mind that i did love him. He might have not been my mate, but he was the one that showed me genuinely what it was to love.
“i am glad to hear that” she said with her eyes softened. I looked up, looking at her with wide eyes, not really knowing why she said that. It took me a while to realise that i had said all those things out loud.
“oh” i said, with a blush staining my cheeks.
“did.. did he know this was how you felt?” she asked. I could not respond as quickly as i did the first one, mainly because i knew the answer to that question.
“i.. i should hope so” i said, knowing that the last few days i did not in anyway make him feel the love i had for him, ifr anything, i was overbearing.
Just like that, i felt the sting in my eyes and the dam burst open. I dropped to my knees bringing out unpleasant sobs from my mouth. I held my chest, trying as much as possible to breathe, it was not working.
“hey” she said, squatting to my level before she brought me in for a hug.
‘was she always like this or am i dreaming?’ they said that grief changed you. Could that be the reason she was willingly gathering me into her hands? I thought, trying to think through the sobs that were escaping my mouth.
“he went after me” i said after a while when i had calmed down. “he wanted to give me the bloody amulet and…” i kept on talking spewing word after word how she lost her son. It must have been that i was too comfortable, thay would have to be the only reason why i opened my mouth to tell her such a thing.
I missed the way she tensed up, too engrossed in what i was saying before i felt a hand grab my neck, almost restricting my air flow completely.
“so you are the cause of his death” she said, looking at me with thise cold eyes i had somewhat become familair with.
“i can…” i gasped, trying as much as possible to get out of her hold but it seemed more and more impossible
She let go of me just in time before i passed out from the lack of air. “the initial order still stands” she said, looking at anywhere but at me. “i want you out of here by sun down tomorrow” i shook my head.
“no please… you can’t i.. you said i could watch him being buried, i need to pay my last respect before i..”
“the only thing holding me back from killing you is not because i don’t want you, it is mostly because i do not want my son to think he wasted his death trying to save you when he sees you in the afterlife, but beware, i would not hesitate to kill you if i see you anywhere after sun down tomorrow.” she said, looking at me with pain in her gaze.
“that is cruel” i said, just as she was about to walk out of the breakfast room,
“cruel?” she said, cocking her head to the side before turning around. “you are still breathing, after all you have done and you call me cruel?” she said, looking at me with the sense of disgust.
“you are not the only one that loved him dearly!! i loved him dearly too!!!!” i yelled, looking at her feeling this sense of hate.
“if you loved him, you would not have pushed him the way you did!!” i opened my mouth to say something else but with a gust of wind, she ran towards me, shoving me against the wall.
“i don’t think you realise that i am not here to negotiate whether or not you get to stay in my home” she threw me to the side like i was some rag doll.
“you are no longer welcomed here, good night” she said, walking out, ignoring the fact that i was gasping for air while clutching to the side that i had made impact with the furniture.
I stretched out my hands for help, only to be met with the door being shut in my face.
“fuck it” i muttered as i tried my best to stand up so that i go get it checked out but my legs seemed to not want to function anymore. My sides i was holding was getting wet. I looked down to see that it was bleeding.
My eyes were getting dizzy.
“fuck” i muttered again, letting the darkness overshadow me…
