Chapter 18: Not suitable for Luna

~Aiden’s POV~

Pete's words were quite right. Ariana isn't just a brave fighter, she is a strong woman who would stand on her words no matter the circumstance. Since she's a pack warrior now, I was sure she wouldn't give up on her only chance to get close to me.

I inhaled a deep breath and sighed, “Unless she finds interest in someone else.” I smiled, eying Pete and he cringed, showing his distaste, “That girl is literally obsessed with you, Aiden. She doesn't want anyone else.” he spat, using his hands while speaking, “You know what she did when you went in search of your mate?”

“What?” I asked softly

“She rejected all the men that walked up to her for a relationship. She destroyed the relationship before it could even start.” He continued and I shivered, imagining the strict look on her face when she told everyone “No!”

But why must she continue with this? I mean, she should try to understand me for once. I inhaled a deep breath and rolled my eyes, “perhaps none of them are to her liking.”

“Why are you denying the fact that she did it for you, Aiden?” Pete chuckled. I ignored his words and pushed the door open, striding into the throne room.

My step father was seated on his throne, looking all fierce and powerful. He is an Alpha who rules with power, merciful and heartless when he needs to be. He was having a conversation with his subordinate when I walked in, and immediately he met my gaze, he waved the young man aside.

“I see you've come to your senses.” His loud voice rang out, filling the whole space. Hardening my gaze, I took slow strides towards him, feeling the confidence oozing from myself, “Father, I've come to convince you.”

Pete happened to walk in at the same time. He walked towards the Alpha and bowed his head, “Pete is at your service, Alpha. You sent for me.” My step father flipped his attention to him, “Aye, Pete, I need you to do a survey of the pack and tell me if you find anything suspicious. My pack warriors would check the borders of the pack.”

Pete nodded slowly, “I'll get that done.” He said before walking away.

With Pete out of the room, my step father finally had some time to think over my words. He threw his head back, letting out a chuckle. Perhaps my words made him laugh in some way, but that wasn't any of my business. I took my stand and flashed him a small smile, “Father, I've come to tell you that Melissa would be my only woman. Getting married to another woman would never happen.”

My step father, Alpha Jason, stood up in fury, his eyes blazing with anger, “How dare you!’” He growled, his voice booming, “how dare you tell me that blind cursed girl is going to be your only woman. You should marry for the good of our pack. That girl isn't good for you.”

He must have thought his statement would be enough to convince me, but it only hardened my heart. The fact that he referred to my mate as a blind cursed girl made me furious, but he was the Alpha. He was my father as well. Arguing with him was no good. I clenched my fists and lowered my gaze, “She's not cursed, Alpha.” my voice was low, but deep.

Raising my head slowly, I took slow strides towards him, “Father, please, I am begging you. Leave Melissa and I alone. She is my mate. You don't expect me to reject her and leave her alone.”

“She's not suitable to become Luna.”

“I would train her.” I sighed, running my hands through my hair.

“Training her isn't enough!”

“Then I would do everything else. Anything it would take to make you accept her, please.”

“She is blind!” He growled angrily, pushing the glass of wine on his desk away, “she is blind and weak! There's nothing you can do to change that.”

“But father.”

“Leave!” He snapped, not in the mood to continue the conversation. Angered to death, I clenched my hands into fists and walked away, hoping my words would be enough to convince him. As I walked out of the throne room, I stumbled into a fierce looking lady, her blonde hair styled in a high ponytail. Next to her were two men, their gaze as sharp as hers.

Her gaze shifted, landing on me. Her lips slowly curled into a smile as she fastened her pace, “Aiden.” she smiled, her hips swaying as she walked.

Ariana is beautiful, hot and gorgeous. Even in casual wear, she still looked as breathtaking as ever. She was standing in front of me now, her smile growing wider by the second, “Aiden, you could have told me you were leaving to the human realm. It was lonely without you.”

My jaw tightened, “Ariana, look…”

“I know you've found your mate.” She said, rendering me completely speechless, “but you can always reject her.”

“Ariana, Jesus!” I breathed, shocked everyone was asking me to reject Melissa for their selfish reasons. I searched high and low, mountains and valleys for my mate, and now that I've actually found her, they expected me to reject and shove her aside? Hell no!

I inhaled a deep breath and weaved my hands through my hair, “Ariana, I can't reject my mate.”

“What about what we had, Aiden? Are you going to push me aside just because of her sudden appearance? Baby, stop this nonsense.” her voice wavered slightly, her eyes growing dimmer, “You can't, Aiden.”

“What we had was a fling, Ariana, can't you see?” I snapped, losing it, “I clearly told you were only meant to be fuck buddies. What's with this strange growing affection?”

“Aiden, stop all these.” She sighed, dragging me away from the entrance of the throne room. She stopped across the hallway and tightened her grip on my hands, “I have all the qualities you need in a woman, in a Luna. She's not going to give you any of that.”

“I don't care!” I snapped before walking away.
