Chapter 13: You're mine, I'm yours.

~Aiden’s POV~

Getting away from Olivon wasn't as easy as it seemed, but I wasn't the Alpha's son for nothing. Masking my scent wasn't something difficult, but I was sure they would catch up to me soon. Everything in me wished to see Melissa, to hold her, to kiss her, but meeting her now might put her in danger. I had to wait for the pack warriors to return back to the Shadow claw pack before meeting her again.

Hours ago, Pete called me and Informed me of their arrival at the pack. I heaved a sigh of relief, but I was sure the information about my mate being found has been publicized already. Meeting her mother for the very first time was strange, but I was told she left for a party with her friend, Tracy—the end of the semester blow out

If there was one thing I knew about her, It was the fact that she disliked attending parties. My mate, Melissa, hated spending much time grooming herself, and her attending such a party tonight made me uneasy. Her mother didn't ask me strange questions. As soon as we finished talking, I drove straight to the supposed hall and walked in without a mask.

Like a usual heated party, ladies were making out with men and so were ladies making out with ladies. A few of them tried to approach me, throwing disapproving gazes for not wearing a mask, but I only had one person in mind—Melissa. At the center of the room, I sighted a familiar figure, but she was struggling with a young man.

The music blasted through my ears, but the young man's voice was loud as well. “You're blind and useless, do you think you would be welcome here?” he spat, his voice dripping with disdain as he tightened his grip on her, wrapping his arms around her waist.

Anger like a fiery flame coursed through my veins as I pushed my way through the crowd, “Let go of her, you bastard!” I growled, my wolf almost losing its control.

All I could see was RED! the sight of his hands around her waist almost killed me.

Melissa halted, her lips slightly parted as she gazed at me and the young man chuckled, “It's beauty and the b..”

I didn't allow him to finish up with his sentence before delivering a gut to his face, soiling my pretty hands with his blood. He fell to the ground, holding his nose with his hands, “Dude, what the hell.” he groaned, his face contorting in pain.

I cringed in disgust, wiping my hands with a handkerchief, “Spill out those words again, and I'll make sure you regret it.” I warned, glaring at him dangerously, “ She might be blind, but she's got more brains than your whole family.”

After giving the bastard a last warning, I dragged Melissa away to a secretive place, pinning her against a wall, “Melissa, are you okay?” I asked, taking off her mask and checking out her whole body. Lisa simply stared at me, batting her eyelashes as her body trembled slightly, “Where have you been?”

“On the run.” I replied, mesmerized by her appearance. Her black mini dress hugged her body perfectly, accentuating her hourglass figure. Melissa has always been beautiful, but today, she was not! Smoking hot and the red mask on her face made her look even more mysterious.

“On the run? You expect me to believe that.” She whispered, her gaze piercing through the depths of my soul. She was hurt, I could feel it, but it wasn't my intention to leave her for days. Tucking some loose strands of her hair behind her ears, I cupped her cheeks and forced her to look at me, “My father wants me to get married. He's the Alpha of my pack.”

“You mean leader?” Melissa asked, and I nodded slowly, giving her time to absorb my words. She pressed her red lips together, “but I'm your mate.” she argued, her eye color changing, “We belong to each other.

Strange, but I loved the way she said that. The way she fiercely called me hers, the way she said we belonged to each other. As the days passed by, the mate bond was becoming stronger and stronger. I traced her lips with the tip of my thumb and leaned closer, “Yes, we belong to each other. You're mine, I'm yours. That's why you need to come with me.”

“I need time.” Melissa voiced, averting her gaze, “my mother, Tracy,—”

“You're not going forever. You can still keep in touch.” I whispered, trying to convince her and she nodded slowly, her gaze locked on mine. I knew it was a hard decision to make, to leave everyone behind and come along with me. In the shadow claw pack, she might be even more bullied, pushed aside and humiliated but I was going to be there for her every step of the way. To step in for her, defend her and show her the right way.

All she had to do was follow me.

“So you're coming with me?” I asked, breathing on her nose. Melissa shivered slightly, her eyes darting around before finally landing on mine, “I need some time to discuss with my mother.” she said, slight hesitation in her voice.

“Melissa.” I drawed, knowing she was indirectly refusing me. I inhaled a shaky breath and ran my hands through my hair, “You have to trust me, Melissa. I only have a little time here. Soon, you won't be seeing me again. I would have to marry the bride my father has chosen for me”

“But you have the right to refuse.”

“I'll become the Alpha soon. He wants to tie me down with the marriage. He wants me to stop searching for my mate.”

“Then tell him you've found me. Explain to him that I'm here flesh and blood. Make your family understand and I'll do the same.”

“It's not that simple!” I snapped, anger coursing through my veins. My wolf was hurt and so was I. She was my mate, she should be willing to come with me, live with me, leave everything behind because of me. I've tried to understand her but right now, I don't think I know her anymore.
