Chapter 11: Not suitable for the title Luna.

Aiden's POV

Never assumed that Convincing Melissa would be this…hard. With each passing moment, I was running out of time. The pack warriors were near, I could feel it, and once they found me, I would have to proceed with the mating ceremony.

I weaved my hands through my hair and let out an exasperated sigh, confused; how would I convince a girl to make her come with me? Lisa is my mate, I have every right to bring her with me, but people in this part of the world would never understand. They would never understand the tight bond between mates.

“What's bothering you, buddy?” Josh asked, sliding his butt on a stool next to me, “you look bothered.” he observed and I groaned, wondering if anyone else would have noticed the ugly scowl on my face. Reaching for the glass of wine on the slab, I pushed it down my throat and sighed, “A girl.” I calmly said, and his ears perked up, curiosity brimming in his eyes, “A girl?”

Swirling the glass of wine in my hands, I slowly nodded, “hmm”

I would call these last few months the most unproductive months of my life, but it wasn't all that useless. I've found Melissa, but I was back on my starting point, lost. The sloas bar was unusually quiet, but I could tell it was due to the fact that it was still noon. After my conversation with Melissa, I drove straight here to release my tense muscles, but Josh here was only providing me pointless and unreasonable solutions.

“Getting a girl shouldn't be hard.” He grinned, leaning closer, “you have to think of something she wouldn't resist.” he said, wriggling his brows at me. Facepalming myself inwardly, I let out a loud chuckle, “I have her already. I need her in my city, next to me.” I explained, leaving out the details of the mate palava. Josh was a human—a weaker one who wouldn't be able to handle information like these. He slammed his fists on the slap and stood up abruptly, staring at me like I've lost my mind, “Are you insane?”

Right, he really thinks I've lost my mind.

Josh's reaction didn't surprise me. It was something I'd expected. Having a mate is like being tied by the heavens, but the humans would never understand. Melissa and I should be together, and the fact that I've marked her makes her mine alone. I made a tsk sound with my tongue, “I'm in the right state.”

“Why would you take her with you?” Josh asked, a slight frown on his features, “I mean, you're not married. You don't expect her to leave everything here and come with you?”

Right. Melissa grew among humans, explaining why they have the same thoughts. There was truth in his words, but my father, the Alpha, would never understand. I wasn't sure if he would welcome Lisa with open arms, but I was going to make sure I protect her. I rolled my eyes and sighed, “she belongs to me.”

“You have to take her to the altar to say that.”

“It isn't that easy.” I groaned, taking another sip of my wine, “it's more complicated than you can ever imagine. She's a part of me.”

“No, she isn't.” Josh said again, upsetting me to no end, “I mean, she's not married to you or anything. You can't claim her that way. You're just making matters worse.” He stared at me for a few more minutes before sitting, “She's scared. Make her understand she has nothing to be afraid of.”

Scared? I closed my eyes, trying to recall the look on Lisa's face and I trembled. Josh was right. It was still a first time for her, learning about supernatural creatures and finding out what she truly is. She must think they wouldn't welcome her. Tracing the slab with the tip of my fingers, I gave Josh a small smile, “You're a genius.”

He smirked, “Better still, make her trust you. Don't make her regret the decision.” he added before walking away. Josh wasn't just my friend, he was a waiter in this bar. Compared to other men who would focus on earning women now, Josh was diligent with his work, striving to earn a little to feed his family.

A young man walked through the entrance, and through the transparent door, I could see a few others patiently waiting outside for him. His raven black hair fell past his shoulders, but there was a chilling glint in his eyes that differentiated him from other men. On the left side of his shirt, there was a seal, but before I could sneak out, he was already next to me, a sly smile hanging on his lips, “You can't hide, Aiden.” he said, sitting across from me.

Pouring another drink into my glass, I chuckled softly, “You brought about six men to take me home?”

“The Alpha requests your presence.”

“I am not going to marry someone other than my mate!” I growled, my voice getting louder. Other than the Beta, Nathan, the next person my step father trusts is Oliver, the man sitting across from me. He acts only on the Alpha's orders, even if that includes killing himself.

Oliver stared at the watch in his hands, “A mate you've not found?” he said, boredom in his voice, “We're leaving now. Don't make me do something I would regret.”

“And what if I've found her?” I smirked, crossing my arms, “Olivon, there's nothing you can do that would get me out of here. Once my mate is ready, I'll grace the shadow claws pack with my presence.”

“So you've found her.” Olivon asked, but he didn't seem surprised. He tilted his head sideways, blinking as he stared at me, “I should have known it's that blind girl.”

My eyes widened as I sunk my nails into my flesh, “what do you know about her?” I asked, narrowing my eyes, “Tell me now!”

I wanted to do the honors of announcing the news to my step father, but Oliver was going to ruin everything for me. The fact that she was blind, born in a human world and clueless, I was sure my father would ask me to reject her, but all of that doesn't matter now.

“She's the one you've been spending the last few days with. I'm sure you know she isn't suitable for the title Luna.”

“You're not my father!”

“But I'm someone he trusts.” He growled, his eyes turning red, “You are coming with us, and before you do, you're going to reject her.”
