"Is This How We're Going to Do This?"
Alison took another sip of coffee and felt relieved that Aidan still remembered his son. "Don't worry. I've hired a professional nanny for them. Every day when I go to work, I'll pump and store my breast milk, so Lyla and Tyler will be taken care of."
"The kids are still little. They can't roll over, sit up, or walk yet. Alison, are you really planning to rely solely on a nanny to take care of them?" Jack said sternly.
"I'm only helping out for a few months," Alison said frankly. "The German manager here is due to have a baby in a few months. Once she returns to work, I won't be needed anymore. I'm just filling in temporarily."
Jack couldn't find another reason to object; he turned to Aidan. "Aidan, if Alison wants to work, my company can make arrangements. She mentioned it to me before, but I didn't agree. That would be better for her postpartum recovery, wouldn't you say?"
"Hmm, Jack has a point." Aidan nodded and said to Alison, "You're welcome to come help, but you don't have to clock in and out like the other employees. You can set your own schedule. However, you must complete every task on the list. Otherwise, I'll deduct it from your pay."
Alison's heart leaped with joy. "Aidan, thank you."
Jack's expression darkened.
However, Aidan's expression remained completely unchanged—still as impassive as before—which made Alison frown.
"Aidan, why don't I come in to work this afternoon? I'll go out this morning to buy some bottles for storing breast milk, and then I can come over."
Jack said, "All right. I'll take you to buy the bottles, then drive you home. Have lunch at home, get the two kids settled, and then come back to work."
"No need—I drove here," Alison replied casually.
Aidan waved his hand. "I'll have someone drive your car back for you."
Alison shrugged. "Then I'll trouble the CEO to take care of that."
With Jack accompanying her, she checked in at the HR department and agreed to start work that afternoon.
Alison couldn't have been happier.
The job she'd been longing for had finally fallen into place.
The two left together, drawing envious glances from YD Company employees along the way.
Everyone they encountered greeted them.
Alison had intended to take the public elevator, but Jack dragged her into the CEO's private elevator.
The elevator whizzed down and soon reached the basement level.
Alison said, "Mr. Winston, you really don't need to drive me. I know you're busy. Why don't you go back to the office first? I'll do my own shopping and head home."
Jack furrowed his brow.
"Call me Jack," he said coldly, yanking her hand and dragging her toward his Lamborghini without giving her a chance to object.
"Jack Winston, is this really any fun?" Alison gritted her teeth.
He dragged her to the car effortlessly, opened the passenger door, shoved her inside, and quickly fastened her seatbelt.
Before she could react, he had circled to the driver's side and gotten in.
Once seated, he didn't start the car right away. Instead, he turned his head, rolled down the window, and left just the two in the cramped car.
"Call me honey." His gaze was cold and deep yet seemed to carry a searing heat that instantly made her heart race.
Alison pursed her lips, deliberately ignoring him.
Before she could react, the man's face was close to hers.
A strong, masculine scent enveloped her, and his lips descended—a punishing kiss that swept away her breath.
She struggled but couldn't break free from the man's grip.
