Chapter 73 Explosion at the Ceremony
ANGELICA'S POV
I sat before the dressing table, looking at my reflection, where the girl that stared back had such contrasting features.
It may have something to do with the fact that the Alchemist awakened something inside me yesterday, or maybe with the fact that I was really glowing today.
There was no one I could ask.
The alphas didn't return the entire night, probably too angry at me to talk to me.
At first, I was really sad, and it really ached my heart, but then I remembered what kind of badass I used to be before I let people's actions decide my emotions for me, and after that, I have been just waiting to meet them so I can give them a piece of my mind.
“You look beautiful, Luna,” Tracy said as she stood at the entrance of my room.
I wore a blue gown with a puff in the skirt that made it look princess-like. The royal blue color paired with my jade bangles looked gorgeous.
With snowflake earrings, I wondered if I should wear a necklace, but the pendant the Alchemist gave me to protect me from God knows what matched the dress, and I didn't take it off.
Though I didn't know a lot of things, my instincts told me to believe in the alchemist and that he was here for my benefit only.
“Thank you, Tracy. Has the ceremony started?” I asked her, and the girl nodded.
“The invited alphas and the council members have started to arrive at the venue. Our alphas are attending to them. I am here to escort you,” Tracy said.
I looked at my reflection one last time before taking a deep breath.
This ceremony was going to change my life once and for all. I wouldn't be a normal human anymore, not that I was really one before. But after this ceremony, I would officially become the Luna of the Blood Marital Pack.
“You are nervous,” Tracy commented when we started walking towards the exit, and I smiled.
“If anyone had told me I would become a Luna one day and mate two extremely handsome hunks that are always ready to do anything for me, I would've laughed in their face. But it's all happening now. Am I nervous? Yes. But am I ready? Hell yeah.” I looked at Tracy, who grinned at me.
There was this weird, jittery feeling in my stomach, even stronger than the day when I had gotten my degree and become the student of the year.
I clenched and unclenched my fists that were turning cold from all the nerves I was feeling.
As soon as I walked to the entrance of the venue, Tracy stopped me from taking another step before smiling.
“Everyone! Future Luna of the Blood Martial Pack! Angelica Royal!” The guard at the entrance announced in a loud and clear voice.
I noticed everyone standing and turning to look towards the entrance.
My heart started beating erratically, and I was about to step forward when Alen walked to me and took my hand, while Zishan took my other hand.
“The future Luna is supposed to be escorted by the Beta and Gamma of the pack to their alphas,” Zishan explained the tradition to me, and I smiled before nodding.
“Let's go,” Alen grinned.
We started walking towards the stage where Ericsson and Dylan stood, looking as handsome as ever, a striking, heart-fluttering smile on each of their faces.
At that moment, I realized what my mom used to say about fights in relationships. Every relationship has its ups and downs; it's up to you how you deal with them.
It was true that I was still angry about what happened yesterday, but seeing the guilt in their eyes, I just couldn't glare at them as I had intended.
“Mi vida,” Ericsson stepped forward and extended his hand for me to take.
I looked at his hand, then at his hazel eyes, which seemed so intense and hopeful.
“Mi amore,” Dylan was the next to step forward, his blue eyes blinking innocently.
I placed my hands in each of their hands before ascending the steps.
“Thank you,” Dylan whispered.
“I am sorry about yesterday, mi vida,” Ericson said before he placed his forehead on mine, an action he always does whenever he wants me to follow and feel his emotions straight through my heart.
He intertwined his fingers with mine before breathing heavily.
“I can’t believe this is finally happening. I waited for so long to hold my Luna in my arms,” Ericson whispered, and my heart almost leaped, their emotions making me feel thrice the joy.
I smiled at him.
“It's okay. It's a touchy matter, I understand.” I said to Dylan, referring to how he said thank you earlier, probably because I didn’t show them any anger and they nodded at me.
They stepped forward and addressed the crowd gathered for the ceremony.
“We would like to thank all the alphas and council members who have gathered here to witness the Luna ceremony of our mate. We would also like to express our gratitude for believing in our love and not opposing the crowning of our human mate.” The alphas said.
Since they weren't sure how or what kind of powers I might acquire, we decided to announce my species as human only.
I watched all the alphas and council members before my gaze shifted to the pack members and the guards, who were looking around, probably to ensure no one tried anything in the ceremony.
I smiled at my mom and father, who were also seated in the crowd.
As I looked at everyone, my gaze stopped at Alen, who, for some reason, looked a bit uncomfortable.
He then whispered something to Zishan, who looked towards us. As soon as his gaze met mine, he quickly averted his gaze, and they turned to leave.
“Now we would like to begin the announcement of our Luna,” Ericson said, catching my attention.
“Would you like to say something?” Ericson asked me, and I nodded.
“My mate Ericson had once sung a song for me to confess his love. I want to reply to him.” I looked at the two alphas before smiling.
‘There are a hundred things I want to say to you, but all fade into the background of your love
I don’t need any conversation; I just want to let you know I am your angel.
Darling, I am falling. Fuck that, I fell in love long ago.
So let me be your angel, the Luna who rules your heart.
Call me "mi vida" or "mi amore," but before that, call me your woman.
Because there are a hundred things I could say, but they fade behind my love for you.’ I smiled
Ericson and Dylan looked at me, their gazes dark, and the intensity of their gaze told me that if we weren’t in public, I would’ve already been bent over the first table, taking them both.
I could practically feel their desire in my veins.
Dylan took a deep breath to snap out of his emotions before smirking, his smirk promising me a night full of lovemaking. He walked to the podium before looking at me.
“Today, we, the alphas of Blood Martial Pack, Dylan Martino and Ericsson Martino, in the presence of the ally alphas, council members, and the moon goddess, announce Angelica Royal as our—” Dylan started.
‘Something is off.’ My inner voice announced, her voice much louder than Dylan's, and I looked around when I felt a chill run down my spine.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Several explosions echoed, and I stumbled back in shock, covering my ears.
Everything happened so suddenly. One moment, Dylan was about to announce my Luna status, and the next second, everyone started rushing around in panic.
The invited alphas quickly hid their Lunas behind them, looking around for any possible attacks while the security guards formed an outer circle around the guests to protect them.
I noticed how waves of black smoke rose in the air, almost reaching the sky at some distance.
“Are you alright?” Dylan quickly draped his coat around me before pulling me behind him, his warmth as he covered me making my heart skip a beat.
“I'll look into what's going on,” Ericson offered and rushed forward while Dylan hugged me close, not even letting me enough space to move a step.
It was almost as if he was afraid that even one step would take me away from him.
“I won't let anything happen to you,” Dylan said, and I believed him.
This was one thing I couldn't doubt them for.
It wasn't long before Ericson rushed back with Zishan and Alen hot on his tail.
“What's the matter?” Dylan asked.
“We are still looking into it. The explosion happened a few kilometers away from the pack, but speakers were used to amplify the sound and scare everyone. The patrol is looking into it to see if the rogues are planning any attack,” Ericson said.
Just a false alarm. I sighed in relief.
“We are sorry, Mi vida. It was supposed to be your special day.” Ericson cupped my cheeks, and I shook my head at him.
“It's okay. If it was just a false alarm, we can continue, right?” I asked.
Ericson looked at Dylan, who nodded.
They quickly told everyone about the situation. Once everyone calmed down, they were about to start the announcement again when we saw one person enter the area, whom no one had expected to see.
“Brother,” The woman whispered, her face covered in soot and clothes torn, while multiple scratches on her body bled profusely.
“Felicia?” Dylan and Ericson said simultaneously with wide eyes.
I blinked my eyes repetitively with a smile before looking at the men who called me a liar yesterday.
I was about to say that I was telling the truth when I saw Felicia losing her consciousness, and the alphas gasped before rushing forward to hold her.
I saw how even my father stood from the crowd to run towards Felicia.
This isn't good. My inner voice spoke, and I narrowed my eyes at her.
Was she for real? The alphas found their dead sister. How could this not be good?
