Chapter 71 A Conspiracy
THIRD PERSON'S POV
In the dark forests of the Carnage Caves, a group stood around a large stone in a circle, their gazes cold, unpredictable, dark, and unyielding as they waited for their leader to arrive.
The man everyone was waiting for walked to the center of the crowd, his movements slow yet depicting dominance and darkness.
He stopped near the large stone, placing his left foot on it, and swirled his cloak before looking at the crowd gathered for him, his eyes turning amber.
“What information have you gathered?” He asked.
One of the subordinates stepped forward, his head bowed in submission.
“It's happening, Alpha. They are holding the Luna ceremony tomorrow. It’s final,” the subordinate said.
The man's expression didn't change.
“And?” He asked.
The subordinates looked at each other, unsure what their boss was asking about.
“How are our preparations for destroying it?” he clarified.
His words made the subordinate’s eyes beam with joy and excitement. As a notorious group known for their trouble-making capabilities and love for pissing alphas off, the mere thought of destroying a Luna ceremony where many alphas would be called filled them with adrenaline.
“We are more than ready for it, Alpha,” the subordinate who had spoken earlier said, and everyone nodded their heads in agreement.
“Good. I don't need to tell you how to do it, but remember one thing: don't harm the girl. She is quite useful to us. We have other plans for her. Regarding the alphas…” The man stopped speaking before a smirk stretched on his lips.
“Rough them up a bit. Let them know who their opponent is this time. I am not Keith, who would go easy on him. Right, sweetheart?” The man asked.
As soon as he said those words, the woman who had been lurking in the dark behind the shadows of the trees, completely untraceable, precisely how she had managed to stay hidden for so long, stepped out.
Dressed in black from head to toe with only her fingers visible, she looked at the man before walking to him.
“Do you want to add more?” The man asked.
The woman shook her head before she climbed on his lap, placing her legs on either side of his abdomen.
“How about we kill one of the twins? That would make our work much easier,” the woman suggested.
The subordinates looked down, not wanting to intrude on the couple's privacy.
The man smiled before his expression turned dark, and he raised his hand, slapping her hard across the face.
The impact caused the girl to slip down from his lap and fall to the ground.
“How many times have I told you not to imitate her?” He asked, and the woman quickly knelt.
Though others couldn't recognize her, as the man who had thoroughly touched and kissed every cell of that woman, how could he not recognize her?
“I am sorry, Alpha. I was in the wrong. It was the lady's idea to test you.” The woman said, and the man's brows furrowed.
He looked up, and the woman, the real one, he was obsessed with, stepped out from the shadows.
“It's good you know your limits despite us not having any scents,” the woman said.
The man rose from his place and walked to her before holding her hand and guiding her to the center of the crowd.
“I knew it wasn't you the moment she stepped out from the shadows. This isn't the way my girlfriend walks. When she walks, the heavens bow,” the man said.
The woman smirked, happy with the compliment and praise.
“Don't flatter me too much. I'll have to go on the mission soon. The more you flatter me, the more I'll miss you. We have to keep that bitch in control. She escaped from our hold, and if my guess is right. She would head straight for the pack to the twin alphas,” the woman said.
The man thinned his lips.
His girlfriend was right. That was a grave mistake they made. They should've been more careful with the shackles.
But they had never thought the girl would run away, even after such torture.
“I agree with her idea. Why not kill one of the alphas? It would give us an upper hand in dealing with them. If one of them dies, the other one would soon follow,” the woman said.
She clapped her hands, and as soon as she did that, a girl with a blindfold on her eyes and two men holding her hands to keep her in place was brought to them.
“This is my pawn from the pack,” the woman introduced the girl.
The girl blinked her eyes profusely before she looked at the woman with her entire face covered in cloth.
“Tomorrow is indeed the Luna ceremony. The alpha is preparing a special security force. I have brought the entire layout of the security force. They aren't inviting many alphas since Angelica is a human. I am not sure, but I suspect something is wrong with her,” the girl said.
“Wrong? What do you mean by that?” The woman stepped forward.
The girl shook her head.
“The alphas have forbidden anyone from going near their house without permission. So it's a bit hard to find out. I am looking more into it through my connections since she won't tell me directly,” the girl said.
The woman nodded.
“Good work. Here's your pay. We'll keep you in mind of people we wouldn't want to kill when taking over the pack,” the woman said before she threw two stacks of dollar bills towards the girl.
Once the girl stuffed the money in her backpack, she was blindfolded again, along with a clip on her nose to stop her sense of smell, before she was taken away.
It was a precautionary measure they were taking to prevent their hideout from being exposed.
Once the girl left, the woman turned to the man.
“I want that pack wrecked. With the way they agreed on making a human as Luna, they don't deserve to stay alpha either,” the woman said.
The man nodded and kissed her passionately, his hands roaming all over her body violently before he let her go.
“Wait for me in bed with your legs wide open. I won't be too long,” the man growled when he felt his composure slipping.
The woman rolled her eyes but followed with a smile nonetheless.
As soon as she was out of sight and his man confirmed she had left, the man turned to his subordinates.
“Don't take that woman's words to heart. She is a fool, though useful. Let's focus on breaking them little by little so they won't have anything to rebuild on. By the time they realize what's happening, the damage will be done. Let's start with destroying the ceremony first,” the man said.
The subordinates began stomping their feet on the ground in unison.
At the same time, Angelica, who reached the house after her shopping spree and couldn't get that woman she stumbled upon inside the mall out of her head, walked to the alpha's office in the house.
For some reason, her intuition told her she would find something useful there.
She opened the door and furrowed her brows, unsure about where she should start looking.
She looked at the stacks of books and albums, one of them containing the pack member's list and their photos.
Angelica thought that person might be the exiled one from the pack and walked to the albums.
She pulled out the album, but to her surprise, a photo fell out beside it.
She picked the photo, her body freezing at the sight. It was a family photo. Not just any family photo, but her men’s family photo with her men.
There was their father, mother, them, and the woman she saw…
And if that woman was here, it only meant one thing…
Felicia? Her pupils dilated.
Wasn't she dead? The reason the twin alphas hated her stepfather so much? But if she was dead, who was the woman she saw in the mall, and why was she in such a hurry?
What was happening?
It might be her illusion, but if the girl were really alive, then how happy her mates would be? The thought made her heart thump with happiness, and she rushed out of the office to look for Dylan and Ericsson to share the happy news.
