Chapter 27

We finished walking back to the guards in the field we left them in with Gray. The healers were already working on him, and he was healing. Neero and I agreed I would stay with them while we tried to figure things out. I also agreed to stay longer after everything was fixed with my kingdom if it was proven I was one of them. But for now we would try to find a way to solve both our problems. We would be staying with Neero and his wife in the main castle until we leave. That way Gray can also continue to be healed and monitored to make sure he would be alright.

I walked over to Gray and took a good look at his arm. “Well you aren’t bleeding anymore, but it’s incredibly pink and the skin is very thin. You’re going to have to be careful while they heal you and you’ll need multiple treatments.” I said. He nodded and gave me a concerned look. “I need to talk to you later alone, there are some things I need you to clarify.” He finished and I nodded. We made our way with the guards and Neero to the castle so we could get settled in and hopefully take a bath. The walk was long but it was also very pretty. The forests in this area were very well kept clean and there was so much life in them just going about their business as if we weren’t there. We came to another break in the forest but this time it opened to a beautiful clearing with a pristine shimmering city in the middle.

We walked through the open gate and past the walls, as we were walking through the streets everyone stopped to say hello to us and they were really friendly. It had more of an old fashion look with old buildings being kept up to date. Most were stone houses or shops. There were some parks and clearing for kids to play, the roads were all made of cobblestone. In a way it really felt like home. Growing on the fence lines, and some of the sides of the buildings were beautiful vines full of leaves and flowers. They had flower pots everywhere and everything was so clean. I wish we could get people to care about the city like this back home.

We finally got to the main gate for the castle and walked in. The castle itself was beautiful. All of it was made from smooth stone, high ceilings, grand staircases, and tapestries that were kept in pristine condition through the ages. The colors were bright and beautiful. They had so many openings in the walls and windows without glass that it felt like we were still outside. A voice pulled me out of my awed state “Darling, why did you leave so suddenly? I thought you were-” She stopped talking as soon as she saw us. She had red hair, a little taller than I am, she had green eyes, and a slender body. She walked over and grabbed Neero’s hand. He smiled at her and pulled her into a hug. “I apologize my love, a guard alerted me to a rogue wolf pack chasing two people and they needed help.” He said and then gave her a kiss.

When they were finished they turned back to us and Neero started talking, “Princess Immyria, Gray, please meet my mate Sabrina.” She came over and shook my hand but stopped when she saw Gray. “Are you alright?” She looked at him with concern on her face. “Your healers have done an amazing job already, trust me, it was much worse when your mate found us. If not for him I probably wouldn’t be here.” Gray replied. Sabrina smiled and looked back at her mate. “You did good, I’m very proud of you.” she said. Neero looked back at her and just smiled. Thinking about it he said mate. He Had a mate. “Neero?” I asked, when he looked at me I continued. “Mates are extremely rare to find, if ever. How did you two find each other?”

Nerro and Sabrina gave each other a look and smiled, “We are both much older than we look.” Sabrina winked at me. Neero just laughed then waved over someone. “Please show our guests to their rooms and make sure they can bathe and have a change of clothes. I believe they lost their packs in the forest earlier. When they’re done, show them to my office and make sure the healers are here for his second treatment in two hours.” He said and bowed to me. I bowed my head in response and followed the person. “Gray, take your time and try not to use your arm too much. I’ll let Aster know what’s happened through the crystal and that you’re alright.” I told him. When we got to the rooms we both went in and tried to relax.

I got into my room, and I swear I’m looking at MY ROOM! But we are in a completely different part of the world at this point. It was impossible right? This can’t be my room?... I walked over to the closet on the side of the room and opened it up. There were towels in there instead of clothes and things for a bath. I guess it’s not my room. None of my personal items were there but it physically had the appearance of my room. I went to the bathroom door on the other side of the room and opened it, yep, it looked the same as my bathroom. I took a deep breath and then there was a knock at the door. I went back to the door and opened it. It was Sabrina. “Mind if I come in?” She asked. I opened the door more for her and motioned her in, “Is there something I can help you with?” I asked her. She was looking around “I knew it! I knew you had magic as soon as Neero said you could hear him!” She almost jumped up and down, and clapped her hands together.

I just stared at her, after a minute of staring with my mouth open not knowing what to say she spoke, “You know that we are keepers of magic, right?” She asked. I nodded my head and she continued, “Well this palace is also enchanted in the bedrooms. They changed the room according to what you would be most comfortable in. But only if you have the same type of magic. Otherwise the room would simply appear to you as a typical guest room.” She went over to my bed and sat on the end. “This is really soft. I can see why you like it.” She said. I went over to the bed and sat down next to her facing her. It really did feel like my bed. “Sabrina I’m so confused, what do you mean magic? I’ve never been able to do anything magical in my life. And now I apparently heard Neero in his wyvern form in my head and a bedroom made itself look like my bedroom back home.” I said facing her and putting my hands in my lap. If Neero shared that detail with her I’m sure he would share everything I told him. I’ve heard mates can talk to each other through their minds and they can go through memories as well which would allow her to see or hear the whole conversation we had.

“Immyria, you may very well have dormant wyvern blood. Back when the kingdoms were all together under the dragons, wyverns did find mates and betrothals outside of our kingdom. That bloodline can remain dormant for centuries and then resurface at any time. All it takes is one union somewhere and the magic to awaken itself. You could be one of us, isn’t that exciting?!” She grabbed my hands. All I could do was stare. I couldn’t think or process any of it.
