Chapter 88 Eighty-Eight
To show him I am mentally dangerous than him, I plucked my gun from its holder on my waist and aimed it at him.
Suddenly, his eyes broadened in shock, and he released his arms, letting them hang beside him.
“What nonsense game did you say you want to play?” I asked, eyes fixed on him as I stepped forward.
Even the idiots he summoned to obstruct our way were frightened by my sudden action and so, they parted ways for me, stepping away as far as they could.
“I…wh…what are you try…ing to do, lady?”
He stuttered, stepping back until his back came in contact with the wall.
Since there was no way he could escape again, he stayed in one place, wiping off the beads of sweat on his forehead.
“Will you go to the headquarters willingly, or until you are forced?”
His Adam's apple thrust up and down as he gulped down the lump in his throat,
“I… I will go.”
He scowled, then grumbled. I signalled to the officers and he was escorted to the car.
“Harry Wesley was a manager in the marketing department in your company, correct?”
He lifted his eyes and glared at me as if we were sworn enemies. Anyway, I've always gotten that stare from a lot of people so, it isn't something new.
He didn't answer my question, he only stared at me which annoyed me so much. When I ask a question, the only thing I need is an answer, not some kind of stare that angers me.
I crossed my arms under my bust, leaned back on the chair, and stared at him too.
“Mr. ZC or whatever your name is. Will you answer my question, or do you want to play dumb? Do you have any idea what I do to people like you?”
He scoffed, leaning his back on the chair.
This dude doesn't know what I am really made of. I will he forced to torture him until he confesses to what he didn't even do.
“Yes, he is.”
He answered swiftly as if he knew what was going on in my mind.
“Was he in the company today?”
“And that, I don't know. Shouldn't you be asking his team members that question? Or better still, the security guy at the gate. He knows all those who enter the company and those who leave.”
Ahhh, calm down, Lizzy, I can handle this dude.
Just as I was about to ask him another question, he leaned towards the table, placed his elbows on it, and hissed loudly like an angry snake.
“Harry was going to be fired from my company this week, but death took him, saving him from embarrassment and humiliation.”
What da!
“If you are done with the questioning, Detective, I will be on my way now. I ain't made to visit this kind of place when I ain't a criminal.”
I didn't stop him, I watched him scurrying out of the room like something important was waiting for him outside.
He didn't even tell me his name, but that wouldn't be a problem. I will dig into his background later when I am done questioning the rest of the employees.
“Mr. Zach and Harry hadn't been on good terms for two years now.”
Another Mr. Zach? Oh, wait. Is Zach his name? That explains the Z in his company. What then does the C stand for, Collins?
“Tell me everything you know.” I locked my fingers on the table, looking into his eyes in case he tells a lie. But before he could speak, he looked so nervous, probably afraid of being exposed.
“You don't need to be scared, just tell me all the things you know and you can leave. Trust me, Zach or anyone won't know it was you who told the truth.”
Hearing that, his lungs relaxed, and he exhaled calmly. Then he glanced at the officers who were inside the interrogation room with us, and then looked towards me.
“Speak already, dude, stop wasting my time!”
I nearly lost my temper, but I quickly controlled it less he got scared and did not say a word.
“Since Harry got married two years ago, Mr. Zach has started hating him. And he has been secretly planning on how to get rid of Harry,”
Uhn? Just because he got married? Or is there something else hidden under the cloak?
“Why?”
“Because Harry married the woman he was in love with.”
Whoa! So that is it? No wonder Zach was furious about the questioning, and didn't even care that Harry was dead. Hmmm, seems I need to dig out more on Zach. He might be behind Harry’s death, who knows.
“Is there anything else you want to report?”
“No, Detective, that is all I know.”
I dismissed him, and after questioning the rest of the employees, the majority of them knew about the hatred between Zach and Harry. And they think Zach must be behind Harry’s death as they've all heard him threatening him at one certain time.
If only Harry had been able to tell me everything before he passed away.
“Get me the footage from the CCTV camera across the street, from the time before the accident and after.”
If someone were chasing him, I would find out who it is. Luckily, CCTV cameras are all over the street, but hidden in secret places where no one would know.
After he was gone, I decided to go to Harry’s house. It's time for his wife to know the fate of her husband so she can inform his relatives of the burial.
Who knows? During the burial, I will be able to see my Aunt, her husband, and my cousin. Maybe when they see me now, they will regret all the things they did to me, and won't have a choice but to apologize for their mistakes.
Will I forgive them? I have no idea yet. Maybe I will, or maybe I will not. That all depends on what their attitude towards me will be.
In Middle Town, standing in front of Harry’s apartment, I'd wanted to knock, but the giggling and laughing coming out of there shocked me.
That must be his wife’s voice, but shouldn't she be worried right now that her husband isn't home yet?
“Today, you and I will spend the night together here. I have sent your husband somewhere he can't return from now.”
