Chapter 140: United Front
Elias POV
“Don’t you dare touch him!”
The words ripped out of me before I even realized I was speaking.
The hybrid Alpha’s hand was still raised over Ronan, ready to strike. Ready to finish it.
Time slowed.
Ronan knelt across the ruined floor, one knee down, chest heaving, blood at the corner of his mouth, but his eyes were locked on mine. Calm. Steady. Trusting me.
Always trusting me.
Something inside me snapped into place. Not fear. Not desperation.
Acceptance.
“I’m done running,” I whispered.
Power surged through my veins not wild, not unstable. Controlled. Focused. Mine.
I stepped forward.
The hybrid turned toward me slowly, calculating. “Omega approaching,” he said quietly.
“I have a name,” I replied, voice steady. “It’s Elias.”
Then I released everything.
My pheromones didn’t explode outward this time. They unfolded. Smooth. Precise. Intentional. They filled the air like a living current, wrapping around the room, threading through the dust and broken walls.
And then… I reached for Ronan.
Not physically.
Mentally. Emotionally.
The bond between us snapped into sharp clarity. I felt him, his pulse, his strength, his pain, his unwavering will. He felt me too. I knew he did because his breathing steadied instantly.
“Elias,” he murmured.
“I’m here,” I said softly. “I’ve got you.”
The hybrid stepped toward me. “Your output is increasing. Instability detected.”
“I’m not unstable,” I said.
I raised my head and met his eyes.
“I’m in control.”
I pushed my pheromones toward Ronan deliberately. Not overwhelming. Not consuming.
Offering. Trust. Take it.
For a heartbeat, nothing happened.
Then Ronan stood.
Slowly. Solidly. Like my strength had poured straight into his bones.
He rolled his shoulders once, testing himself, then glanced at me with a faint grin despite everything. “You finally stopped holding back.”
“Yeah,” I said. “About time.”
The hybrid watched us both now, gaze sharp. “Dual resonance exceeding projected limits,” he murmured. “Adjustment required.”
He attacked.
Ronan POV
He was fast. But this time, I was faster.
Not just physically. Everything felt sharper. Clearer. Like Elias’s presence inside our bond had tuned every instinct I had into something lethal and precise.
The hybrid’s fist came for my ribs. I caught his wrist mid-strike. His eyes widened a fraction.
“Surprised?” I asked lightly.
I twisted, redirecting his momentum, and slammed my shoulder into his chest. He slid back a step, but recovered instantly, sweeping low.
I jumped, pivoted, and landed behind him.
“Elias,” I said under my breath.
“I’m with you,” his voice answered inside my head and through the air at once.
His pheromones wrapped around me again, not controlling, guiding. Enhancing. Trusting me to use them right.
I lunged.
The hybrid blocked high.
Elias shifted pressure.
I changed direction mid-strike and drove my fist into the hybrid’s side. The impact echoed through the hall. He staggered, but didn’t fall.
“Good,” he said quietly. “Again.”
He came at me harder this time.
We moved through the ruins in a blur of motion, strike, block, counter, shift. Every time he adapted, Elias adjusted. Every time Elias pushed, I moved.
We weren’t two fighters anymore.
We were one system. One intent. One rhythm.
Still, the hybrid was strong. Engineered. Relentless.
He caught my arm suddenly and slammed me into a cracked pillar. Stone shattered behind me. Pain shot through my shoulder.
Before he could follow up, A wave hit him.
Elias.
Pure, focused pheromone force slammed into the hybrid from the side. Not chaotic, targeted. Disruptive.
The hybrid staggered.
I took the opening. I drove forward with everything I had, slamming into him, forcing him back across the hall. He skidded several feet before stabilizing again.
He looked… impressed.
“Your bond,” he said. “Unusual.”
“Yeah,” I replied. “We get that a lot.”
He attacked again. But this time…we were ready.
Elias POV
I felt Ronan’s movements before he made them.
His intent flowed through our bond like electricity. I matched him instinctively, adjusting pheromone pressure, shifting emotional resonance, amplifying his strength exactly when he needed it.
Not controlling.
Supporting. Trusting.
He trusted me completely. And I trusted him.
“Now,” he murmured.
I focused everything into one precise pulse. Not outward.
Through him.
Our pheromones fused, fully this time. Not layered. Not overlapping. Interwoven. Alpha and Omega energy spiraled together into something balanced and powerful and alive.
The hybrid froze mid-step.
For the first time, he looked strained.
“Output… exceeding tolerance,” he said quietly.
Ronan moved. Fast. Decisive. Final. He struck once…high. Twice…low.
Then pivoted and drove all his momentum into a final blow straight to the hybrid’s core.
At the same moment, I released a concentrated burst of pheromone pressure directly into the hybrid’s sensory field.
The combined force hit like a shockwave. The hybrid’s eyes went wide. Then he flew backward.
He crashed into a collapsed wall, debris exploding around him. For a moment he tried to rise, his arms shaking, systems failing…then the glow in his restraint bands flickered.
And died. He slumped. Still.
Silence filled the hall.
For one long second, nobody moved.
Then…
Cheers. I blinked.
From the edges of the ruins, cadets emerged. Surviving Alphas, Betas, Omegas…injured, exhausted, but standing. Watching us with something like awe.
One of the younger Omegas stepped forward slowly. “You… you beat him.”
Ronan glanced at me, breathing hard. “We did.”
The cadet’s eyes shone. “Then we can win.”
More voices rose. Hope. Relief. Determination spreading like fire through dry grass.
I swallowed hard. They weren’t just looking at us. They were rallying.
Ronan’s hand found mine quietly. Warm. Steady.
“You okay?” he asked softly.
I nodded. “Yeah.”
But my chest felt tight. Full. Overwhelmed.
“We actually did it,” I whispered.
He smiled faintly. “Told you to trust me.”
I laughed weakly. “You say that like you didn’t trust me first.”
He stepped closer. The noise around us faded. Not completely, but enough. His forehead rested briefly against mine. Careful. Gentle.
“Elias,” he murmured. “No pressure. But… are you sure you’re okay?”
I met his eyes.
“I am,” I said honestly. “Because of you.”
Something deeper passed between us then, unspoken but clear. Permission. Consent. Total trust.
Slowly, deliberately, I let my pheromones rise again. Not for battle. For him.
He didn’t pull away.
His own responded instantly, warm, grounding, wrapping around mine in a way that felt intimate and safe and completely mutual. No force. No instinct taking over. Just choice.
Connection.
A full, mating-level exchange, not claimed, not marked. Shared.
Equal.
Ronan exhaled softly. “You’re… sure?”
“Yes,” I whispered.
Our pheromones intertwined fully for the first time. Deep. Honest. Unguarded. It wasn’t overwhelming, it was grounding. Like standing exactly where we were meant to be.
Around us, the remaining cadets watched in quiet awe.
Not invasive. Inspired. Hopeful.
Then…
A slow clap echoed through the ruined hall. We broke apart instantly.
Darius.
He stood at the far end of the chamber, half-shadowed, expression unreadable. The defeated hybrid lay motionless between us and him.
“Well,” he said lightly. “That was… unexpected.”
Ronan stepped forward slightly. “You’re done, Darius.”
Darius smiled faintly. “Hardly.”
His gaze moved between us, calculating. Cold. Promise-filled.
“This isn’t over,” he said softly. “Not even close.
He tapped something on his wrist. The lights flickered. Alarms began to scream. Then the walls themselves started to shift.
Retreat.
Ronan tensed. “He’s running.”
“For now,” Darius agreed calmly. “Enjoy your victory while it lasts.”
His eyes locked on mine.
“You are your mother’s greatest creation,” he said quietly. “And my greatest obstacle.”
He stepped backward into the shadows.
“Prepare yourselves,” he added.
“Because next time..”
The floor beneath him opened.
He vanished.
Silence fell again.
I stared at the empty space where he’d stood, heart pounding.
Ronan’s hand tightened around mine.
“He’s coming back,” I whispered.
“Yeah,” Ronan said grimly.
I swallowed.
The final battle was coming. And we had only just begun.
