Chapter 23

Selina's cold had taken a turn for the worse, leaving her feeling miserable and in need of medical attention. Looking for any sort of long lasting relief, she turned to Felix, hoping he could help her find a doctor.

"Felix, I'm sorry to bother you but please, do you know of any good doctors nearby?" Selina asked, her voice raspy from coughing.

Felix nodded, his face filled with concern. "Of course, Selina. I'll take you to the nearest clinic," he replied, his tone gentle and reassuring. “And you never bother me.”

As they made their way to the car, Selina couldn't help but feel grateful for Felix's kindness. "Thank you so much for helping me, Felix. I don't know what I would do without you," she said, sincerity shining in her eyes.

Felix waved off her gratitude with a small smile. "It's no problem at all, Selina. I'm just glad I could be of assistance," he replied, though a pang of jealousy gnawed at his insides.

Upon arriving at the clinic, Felix escorted Selina inside, his protective instincts kicking into overdrive as he watched over her like a guardian angel. Selina was touched by his thoughtfulness, grateful for his support during her time of need.

After the doctor's appointment, Selina came out from the clinic feeling slightly better, armed with medication to help alleviate her symptoms. Felix offered to drive her home, insisting on taking care of her every step of the way.

As they walked back to the car, Selina remembered the fruit basket she had received earlier that day. "Felix, I wanted to thank you for helping me by giving you this," she said, presenting him with the basket.

Felix's heart clenched at the sight of the fruit basket, knowing it was a gift from Simon. He forced a smile onto his face, hiding his anger. "Thank you, Selina. That's very thoughtful of you," he replied, his voice strained with pushed down anger.

As they drove back to Selina's apartment, Felix couldn't shake the feeling of jealousy that consumed him. "So, Selina, do you and Simon get along well?" he asked, his tone casual as he tried to mask his true feelings.

Selina nodded, oblivious to the storm brewing within Felix. "Yes, Simon's a good friend of mine. We work together at the company," she replied, unaware of the storm her words caused.

Felix's grip tightened on the steering wheel, his mind swirling with conflicting emotions. He knew he had to keep his jealousy in check in front of her, but the thought of Selina being close to another man filled him with a fierce possessiveness he couldn't ignore.

“No, not that. I mean do you have feelings for him?” Felix asked, hoping that her next answer won't cause him to commit murder.

Selina looked appaled by the thought of Felix and her in a relationship. “No… jeez, no. He's just a friend. Nothing more.”

Felix's heart skipped a beat at her words, a surge of hope filled him. "I see," he murmured, unable to contain the excitement that bubbled up inside him. "Well, in that case, perhaps we could spend more time together, just the two of us."

Selina's eyes widened in surprise, a faint blush dusting her cheeks. "I... I would like that," she admitted shyly, her voice barely above a whisper.

Felix felt a rush of victory flow through him, hus suspicions that Selina likes him growing little by little. "Great. How about dinner tomorrow night? Just you and me," he suggested, unable to hide the smile that tugged at the corners of his lips.

Selina nodded eagerly, a smile lighting up her face. "I'd love to," she replied, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.

Reaching home, Felix helped Selina get settled in before leaving to his place. “Call me if you need anything, okay?” He said sweetly.

Selina nodded and he left.

As Selina's phone rang, she glanced at the caller ID and saw Martin's name flashing on the screen. With a furrowed brow, she hesitated for a moment before finally answering the call.

"Hello, Martin?" Selina greeted, her voice tinged with curiosity.

"Hey, Selina," Martin replied, "I was wondering if you'd like to grab dinner with me sometime this week. There's this new restaurant I've been wanting to try out, and I thought it would be nice to catch up."

Selina's heart sank at Martin's invitation, knowing full well that his intentions likely extended beyond just catching up as friends. She took a deep breath, steeling herself before responding. "Martin, I appreciate the offer, but I have to decline," she said gently. "I... I'm seeing someone else."

There was a brief silence on the other end of the line, during which Selina could almost hear Martin's disappointment. "Oh, I see," he said finally, his voice laced with sadness. "Well, I understand."

"Thank you, Martin. I appreciate your understanding," Selina replied, genuine gratitude in her tone.

After saying bye, Selina sighed heavily, feeling a mix of relief and guilt wash over her. She knew she had made the right decision in being honest with Martin.

Felix had been listening in on their conversation through the surveillance monitor, his heart sinking with each word she uttered. The realization that Selina had feelings for someone else struck him like a blow to the chest, stirring up different emotions in him.

He clenched his fists in frustration, unable to shake the feeling of jealousy and possessiveness that gnawed at him. How could Selina have feelings for someone else when he was right there, ready to give her everything she could ever want?

As Felix wallowed in his own thoughts, he could not help but feel a rush of determination pass over him. He would just need to make sure Selina forget about whatever else she was infatuated with. And he would do whatever it took to make sure she was his, and his alone..

Selina, worn out from the day's activities, dozed off as night fell. Felix went back to Selina's room once more, unable to let go of his feelings. Feeling a mixture of doubt and affection, he walked softly up to her bed and watched her sleep.
