Chapter 84 084
Danica's POV
"What the hell are you talking about?!" Rosetta yelled, hiding behind the mask of her loud noises. If only she knew I was just getting started.
"What were we talking about before? Oh, right, I asked what you think is in this syringe." I muttered, my voice so calm, it reminded me of those horror movies Thorn usually watched. The ones where the psychopathic culprit of a murder case turns out to be the judge in charge of the same case.
"Don't tell me... it is poison? Are you actually thinking of injecting me with poison?!" She yelled and I smiled down at her.
"Don't get so worked up. You don't even know what I have in it yet" I added and she tried to stand up from the comfy slab, but I eased her back down.
"It'll sting really hard if you keep squirming like a worm, Rosetta. Princesses like you shouldn't be allowed to feel any sort of pain, am I right?" I asked and she opened her mouth to respond but nothing came out. She couldn't get a single word out and that was literally the most beautiful sight I'd seen all day.
"So, what I have right here isn't anything too grand, really. I just filled it with a few doses of wolfsbane. The oldest and deadliest of them all. It's been grown for a millennium if I'm not mistaken. But you don't have to worry too much, since you're an Alpha heir. Your system would have a good time fighting off the effect of wolfsbane poison that has been nurtured for a thousand years." I explained without flinching and she literally froze, long enough to process everything I'd just explained to her.
Then her face went ghostly pale. Her eyes wide, staring right into mine, as if she's still trying to figure out if everything I said was just a prank. But there was no glint of laughter on my expression. The calmness that lingered after I said all that to her probably unnerved whatsoever bravery she thought she had.
"Do you even hear yourself right now, Lowlife...?"
"Danica." I muttered sternly, cutting her off.
She scoffed, once, twice and then she laughed. But goddess help me, I knew that laugh.
It wasn't the usual arrogant laugh but it held a tiny hint of proud humor.
"You think you can manage to pull it off? Injecting someone way above your class? Someone who could easily buy your entire generation and still be filthy rich? And with what? Wolfsbane?" She questioned, her tone flickering from arrogant, to angry, and then uncertainty.
"Take a wild guess of what the most interesting part of this is? The wolfsbane is just as pure as the water that flows round in your body system. One whole syringe emptied into your body would never leave a sign. No signs of poison, no signs of internal damage, just a slow burn death and the worst pain only you can feel as the last moments of your life waves you goodbye"
"No one will ever know what I did. Not even an autopsy detects a pure, ancient wolfsbane, with no scent, no color, and no freaking trace. I just have to claim that your injury got infected for a long time before you checked in, so it couldn't be helped. And then this entire drama between you and I will remain buried forever. How does that sound?" I muttered, layering out my grand plan while she remained there, shaking visibly as she began breathing through her mouth instead of her nose.
"You fucking, crazy bitch! How dare you?!" She yelled, coming at my face with claws and nails but with a strength I didn't even know I possessed, I pinned her down. One hand held her two hands in place while the other hand positioned the syringe right at the visible veins of her right arm.
She screamed, kicked, squirmed, and cursed at me with every word that left her mouth but I didn't particularly mind any of that, and I didn't let go until I pushed the syringe into her skin and emptied the liquid into her body.
Her screams got louder, and it was a surprise that all the workers hadn't barged into the room yet. "Fucking keep the stupid noise down, Rosetta. You don't want to inconvenience other patients. Besides, you already had it coming when you tried to use Alexander's name as a cover the other day" I muttered in a hushed tone but she didn't stop yelling and kicking.
"You.. you're going to kill me because of a lie? I lied, okay? Alexander isn't betrothed to me. He would have been, but he rejected an offer to be my betrothed" she spilled everything at once but that was just a bunch of unnecessary information. And I didn't need them.
"Oh, I already know that. But, I'm sure this would be a good lesson to you. You know, in your next life, you'll have the decency to strive to become a better person after going through one of the most painful deaths ever." I replied with a smug smile.
When I finally let go, she bolted to her feet, waiting for the expected heinous pang of pain as her tears flowed in endless waves. She paced around the room, making a total mess with every turn she made back and forth. But I remained calm, cross-armed, seated, and totally unaffected by her pointless screams.
There was this strange feeling of satisfaction that lingered as I watched Rosetta and her commotion. And for the first time since I was born, I didn't feel bad for making someone miserable. At least not now.
"Just so you know, Rosetta, the poison is a slow one. It'll eat you out very slowly that you'll barely feel anything for the next one hour but the moment you begin to feel actual pain, that's the end. It'll be too late to save you. Not even an antidote would be able to save you then. And if you try to shift, it'll speed up the entire process more than you can ever imagine." I explained the last straw that broke the camel's back and Rosetta's screams increased.
Curses and names poured out of her mouth so fast, I could barely keep up with any of it but no one paid her enough attention to find out why she's being like that. And with me in the picture, they simply thought she was suffering from a little bit of psychological disorders.
She literally called me crazy, a bitch, a murderer, but she was the one getting all the weird glances and attention. Half the workers that saw her gave her a pity look and the remaining half? They avoided her like she'd gone mad.
The sight alone probably killed whatever predator instinct she thought she had, because one minute she was wailing and the next minute she was sprawled on the floor, crying helplessly.
After what seemed like forever, probably when my words finally began to sink in, and when she couldn't bear the fear that clawed at her chest anymore, she crawled back to me, eyes completely void of the usual arrogance as she pleaded for her life desperately.
"Save me, Doctor. Please! I swear I've learned my lessons." She begged, holding out her two hands as she whispered the same words that I could never imagine would ever leave her mouth even if someone had a knife pointed to her throat.
But here we are, with her being the prey in the complete mercy of her predator; Me.
"You see, that's the thing Rosetta, you think you have learned your lessons, but that's too bad, because I don't think the same way. I feel like you still have a long way to go." I muttered and this time she grabbed my legs, her desperation growing with each passing second.
The reason being the fact that the initial one hour I gave her to undo everything and get an antidote has been reduced to five minutes.
She'd spent the last fifty minutes running around like a crazed zombie and she only thought to come begging when there were only five more minutes left for her to be beyond saving.
"Please, Danica. Forgive me for being rude. Forgive me for lying to you, and for calling you a lowlife. I swear I didn't mean any of it, you know that!" She yelled and I scoffed.
"Oh, I don't. I have no freaking idea that playing with people's emotions was just some kind of joke to you. But who knew I was perfect in that aspect too? You know, they always said it takes a monster to recognize another monster. But I think it takes a monster to tame another monster. And that is exactly what I plan to do all day, even if it means planning a funeral after we're done here" I blurted out furiously. She flinched, then crawled closer, her sobs escalating into louder wails.
"I have only two minutes left, Danica. Please. The antidote... A treatment, anything!!!" She yelled, but I made sure to drag out her misery and despair for another one minute and fifty seconds before finally uncrossing my legs and standing on my feet.
"I hope this teaches you the lesson you refused to learn ever since you were a child, Rosetta..." I trailed off, calmly, like I was reciting an actual funeral speech.
Her breath hitch. Her eyes went deathly wide and void of any color. Holy hell, she would kill herself even before death came if she went around looking like a bag of chalk.
I chuckled softly as I continued.
"The wolfsbane poison wasn't an actual poison by the way. It was just a painkiller. You just... made me so angry and for the life of me, I couldn't commit murder, especially not when I just became a certified doctor. So I got creative. And in all honesty? I haven't heard an apology so desperate and sincere in a long time. I'm truly impressed and I accept your apology.”
