Chapter 100 100

Chapter 100 100
Joey’s POV

“Father, have you heard of the trending rumors around the entire Pack?” I asked, sitting crossed legged and calm across his chair in the living room.

His attention shifted from the tablet in his hand, his gaze sour and almost confused, if I'm not mistaken.

“Danica failed her last surgery, Father. It was the most important surgery she's ever attempted and she failed!” I muttered and I could practically taste his hesitation on my tongue.

“Isn’t it normal for doctors to lose a few patients no matter how much experience they have? I mean, something could have gone wrong, it's not like she doesn't have the talent” he muttered, and I hated the fact that he was willing to give her the benefit of his doubt.

“It doesn't matter what everyone thinks about doctors or whatnot, Father. She killed the most important person to the Alpha, do you think he's going to let this go? She's going to drag us all down with her!” I argued, my voice rising a notch higher than I intended.

His gaze drifted to the other side of the room, where mother sat silently. She gave a worried nod and he glanced back at me, still doubting.

“You see, Father. This doesn't even matter if she did it intentionally or if this was just due to a silly mistake during the surgery. You know how irrational the Alpha becomes when anyone messes with him or the people he holds close. We have to get her out of that Palace before she becomes the end of the Grayson generation… and you're the only one who can do that” I explained and the tiniest smirk curled up the corner of my lips when I saw the anger and determination that replaced the doubt in his eyes.

“Since she has already committed a crime, she has offended the Alpha himself, isn't it better to let him punish her himself? Even if I want to drag her back, it won't stop Alexander from making her a scapegoat!” He suggested and I almost rolled my eyes visibly.

“You were a former Beta in this Pack, father. You still have the authority to argue with the Alpha if you have a different opinion, am I wrong?” I asked and he cleared his throat, bolting to his feet before walking out of the house without another glance back.

‘Just you wait, Danica. I'll be teaching you a lesson you'll never forget very soon!’

Alexander's POV

“Greetings, Alpha!!!” The body of ministers and elders said in uniform just as their vows were also in rhythm.

“Have your seats and let's keep this very short, shall we?” I muttered and they all gave me an uncomfortable look. But as always, I didn't mind. Not even the slightest bit.

My eyes did a quick scan of the room and I raised a questioning brow as my gaze fell on none other than the former Beta himself.

The curiosity that twinkled in my eyes quickly melted into pure fury when Danica's face flashed through my brain, teary and sad, because none of her family members ever acknowledged her for who she is, including the bloody civilian standing right across from my majestic chair.

My gaze briefly traveled to Blake but he quickly shook his head in response to my silent question.

He didn't know why the motherfucker was here. He didn't even know that he was here in the first place.

“Beta Grayson” I called, my voice giving off no single hint of the usual acknowledgement I usually carried when I talked to him.

“Alp…”

“Why are you here?” I cut him off almost immediately, his gaze faltered, flushing with embarrassment.

“I still have the right to attend the palace meetings as a former Beta, your majesty. But most importantly, I'm here because of the traitor, Danica.” He muttered and for the first time since I noticed him today, I looked at him. Really looked. From the slight tilt by the corner of his eyes, to the small wrinkles at the corner of his mouth. I noticed every single detail and then, I wondered what kind of crazy bastard labels his own daughter as a traitor right in front of an Alpha when no one has even made a public declaration of whatever transpired at the Pack house today.

“What are you talking about, Grayson? A traitor named Danica? I don't think I have anyone that goes by that identity in my Pack house…” I trailed off, my voice stern, carrying the perfect amount of deadliness I wanted him to feel.

He blinked rapidly now, but he didn't back down.

“I think he's referring to his daughter, the newly appointed head doctor who killed Lady Ruslan” Thorn chipped in and the hall immediately went from tense to chilly, my aura choking.

Thorn and virtually everyone in the room froze, barely breathing through their nose because they knew what it means to have the room to do chilly during a meeting.

They'd angered my wolf, and one more misstatement might end up in a ugly bloodbath right here.

“I don't remember asking you a question Thorn, what are you now? His lowly messenger or my fucking Gamma?” I asked and he immediately bared his throat, a sign of surrender to appease my anger.

“F… Forgive me, Alpha” he stuttered, falling to his knees but then I completely ignored him, leaving him right there on his knees, throat bared and stiff in case I might lose control of my own wolf.

“Now, make yourself clear Grayson. Why. Are. You. Here?” I muttered and he cleared his throat awkwardly, his fists trembling slightly beside him as he tried to speak.

“I heard what happened at the clinic but today, Alpha Alexander. And I'm here to take Danica back home. As I once said, she lacks talent and now she can't even manage to cure one of the most important guests of the Pack. I'm ashamed to admit that she's one of my family” he said and I scoffed.

“As you should be.” I muttered and his eyes lit up. “Tell me, Grayson. If you take her back home as you claimed, what could you possibly do to her to make her realize the gravity of what she's done?” I asked, raising a questioning brow at him.

“I will teach her a lesson she will never forget, and she'll be banned from ever going around bearing the same name as me” he responded faster than a certified jerk would.

“Wow, Grayson. I'm surprised you actually managed to become more… terrible than you already were. I guess I overestimated your intelligence” I muttered and the hall went into a mini mumbling and rumbling moment.

I didn't stop them. Let them laugh. Let him feel half the humiliation his daughter had felt having a father like him.

“What?!”

“Don't tell me you actually came in here and tagged your own daughter a traitor when you didn't even witness her doing shit? Where is your evidence that she deserves to be called a traitor, Grayson?” I asked and I watched as his lips parted, closed and parted again, silence brimming hot between us.

“If you have nothing more to say to me, I suggest you walk out of this hall right now as I can't guarantee your safety if you stay one more minute” I told him and he immediately walked out of the hall.

Of course he did. He wanted to drag my mate out of my palace and he didn't come fully armed? What a joke.
