CHAPTER 9 – THE ONE WITH OLD SONGS 1.0
I took out the keys hanging from the lanyard I was holding one by one to find where the key to our gate was. There were eight keys on the lanyard and it had been a while since I last opened the gate. Usually, when I came home, I just rang the doorbell and mom would open it.
But since it was only five in the morning and the sky was still blue, I didn't want to ring the doorbell and disturb my mother's sleep. It was a good thing I had a duplicate key to the gate.
Finally it opened after I tried the fourth key. I slowly went inside and slowly closed the gate. I was very careful not to make a sound.
When I walked in, I was momentarily stunned and closed my eyes. I suddenly felt vertigo. How could I not sleep? I just waited until morning to go home.
In short, I was awake only yesterday on Friday morning. It's crazy. Besides the lessons we had with the twins, I went through a lot of things yesterday at the hands of my very kind boss.
Yesterday was a very long day. Instead of just resting, I got a trip from my boss. But if you think about it, what happened yesterday was okay for me. Atlis, at least, I'm slowly getting to know the person I need the most in the mansion.
The thought of everything that happened yesterday made me smile. Even though he just saw my last chat saying I forgave him, I still knew to myself that we were okay.
After recovering from the dizziness, I walked again until I reached the door of the house. This time, I didn't take the keys one by one because the look of this door key was familiar to me.
Like at the gate earlier, I slowly opened and closed the door. It was still dark inside the house. All the lights were off. That's exactly how people sleep here to save electricity. The only light that served as light was the little light from outside. The color of dawn.
Even though the lights were off, I could still see what I was walking through somehow. I made my way towards the stairs to go up to my room. I had only taken two steps up the stairs when I was stopped by a sudden...
"Hey, why are you here now?"
"YOU'RE STUPID!!!!"
...Spoken from behind me, causing me to flinch in shock and curse.
What kind of trip do people have and they suddenly pop up like mushrooms and then suddenly start talking?!
I immediately turned to the person who spoke and what appeared to me was Riley, her entire body wrapped in a white blanket. Even though it was a bit dark around me, I knew every detail of this person's personality by heart, so I knew it was her.
It was obvious she had just woken up from the tone of her voice. She frowned as she stared at me while wrapping the blanket tighter around herself, looking like the witch was getting cold.
What is he doing downstairs? Shouldn't he be in the room upstairs?
"That's so delicious, Bebegurl. Are you really surprised?" she reacted to my cursing at her, accompanied by a soft laugh.
"So why are you there? You saw the lights were off and then you suddenly started talking behind my back. Who wouldn't be surprised, right?" I gave him a light-hearted lecture that he just laughed at.
"I came down to get a drink. Then I heard the door open, and then I saw you slowly walk in, like a criminal. It's a good thing I smelled your perfume. I almost came at you with a knife." he said stupidly, coming closer to me.
You see, even in the dark, I know it's him. As for me, if it weren't for my scent, he wouldn't have recognized me. You said we didn't grow up together. I almost got stabbed in my own house.
"Crazy." I commented on what he said.
"Why are you here now? We waited for you all night and you just came home. And you're still a seer on messenger. You, maybe that's why you're here now because you went to a party with your new found friends at the mansion and then you treated them to a treat." He seemed stupid while still frowning.
Who should I go to a party with? Tanya or Dahlia?
"You're saying?"
"No, okay, you're with your new friends. You've already swapped Luna and me. I'll still get Luna if you swap, but me? I'm the one who's already a good, caring best friend and then the source of your daily gossip? Where can you find someone like that?" he said, lifting his own stool.
I reached for his head and was shocked by his dramatic behavior. Just kidding, he just woke up in that state and was talking like that.
"Oh my! That's strong. You, Sky, are like Luna," he complained while rubbing the part I cut off.
"You're such a chatterbox," I said to him, which only made him frown even more. He sounded like a child.
"Come on, let's go up, I haven't slept yet." I added as I started walking up.
My whole body is getting cold from staying up late. I feel like if I lie down, I'll lose consciousness right away. I feel like I want to sleep for 10 days because I'm so tired.
"So why didn't you sleep? Where did you come from?" Riley asked from behind me as we climbed the stairs.
"Where else? Probably at the mansion."
"Oh? Why are you here now? Don't tell me your class goes until dawn? What's that, professor on graveyard duty?" he stupidly teased, adding "Pfft, sounds like a porn title. Your sexy professor on duty---AW."
Because of what she said, I stopped walking up the stairs and because she was following me, her head hit my back. I quickly turned around and gave her a 'what the fuck' look.
"Are you really that stupid, Riley? Do you hear what you're saying?"
